    Correction: 10:49 - The ICE encountered is Strength 4, higher than the icebreaker's 3 - this means it would have to boost before breaking the subroutine.

    I believe there was a mistake while explaining the run... ? Runner's Cleaver has only 3 strength vs 2+2 (4) total strength of the ice barrier... That means runner WOULDN'T be able to interface with the ice before paying 2 credits to gain 1 strength and THEN he would have to pay 1 additional credit to break the "end the turn" subroutine. In the video it says "runner can interact with the ice" and only pays 1 credit to break the "end the turn" subroutine.

      I know this is from 10 months ago but I have an answer for this. The text on Palisade says "While this ice is protecting a remote server, it gets +2 strength.". In the video Palisade is protecting R&D thus not receiving the bonus strength. Kinda confusing for a beginner video TBH

    • @masclnmiah
      @masclnmiah 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's actually not protecting R&D. The R&D is on the other side of HQ where you can see multiple cards stacked up. So it should have required the strength increase cost to get through. And that can be supported by the video walking it through the capture of an agenda during that run.@@iliketoast951

    Thanks for the video. Will definitely be pointing people this way. I do think in two separate examples you mention that Cleaver would not need to be boosted to interact with Palisade but that wasn’t true in either example because Palisade was 4 strength on a remote and Cleaver is strength 3. Maybe showing an example of a run on a central server would be easier because the extra text on Palisade wouldn’t be active? Just a thought. Anyways, thanks again.

    I've taught the game to a LOT of people, over the years, and never did it as quickly, and concisely, as this video did! 😄

      could you please state the mistakes so one doesn't learn the game with these?

    • @kensavage7657
      @kensavage7657 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Jon.Li.Sketches - of course!
      5:25 - It is stated that all servers can only hold one ASSET or AGENDA. This is incorrect - Central Servers (HQ, R&D, Archives) can never have assets, or agendas, installed within them. When a card is trashed/discarded, it is not considered to be installed when it is sent to Archives - therefore archives can hold any amount of agenda/asset cards.
      10:40 - The ICE had strength 4 (2 base + 2 for being on a remote server). The Runner's program was strength 3, so needed to be boosted to strength 4 before it could break the ICE. This was not done.
      11:05 - The keyword "bypass" is used instead of "pass" (which are very different things).
      13:23 - Once again, the Runner breaks the strength 4 barrier ICE with a strength 3 breaker.
      These are all very small mistakes, inside a wonderful introduction video!

      When teaching new players would you have them be the Corp or Runner for their first game?

    • @kensavage7657
      @kensavage7657 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@PressEnter42 - That's a really good question.
      Personally, I recommend that new players play as corp for their first game. The reason is that the corp player has access to more hidden information than the runner. The only information that the corp does not have is the 5 cards in the runner's hand.
      The Runner does not know any of the face down ICE, especially. Some ICE can be dangerous to run through - so some new players can be scared to run until they are "set up properly".
      So, in a first teaching game, I'd prefer to be the Runner. I would start aggressive, running servers without breakers. I explain why I'm doing things. I try to demonstrate that the corp has the choice to let me in - so I see cards and, maybe, score agendas. Or, the corp can spend all their money on ICE - and then be poor.
      I don't think there's any "wrong" answer. If you're teaching a new player - the most important thing, in a first game, is to just vocalise what you're doing and why you're doing it.

    10:44 seems to be wrong. The ICE has strength 4 (because it is on a remote server. Maybe this should be mentioned explicitely). So the Ice breaker indeed needs a boost.

    • @markthomas3130
      @markthomas3130 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was confused by this too. The ICE is protecting a central server so it should have strength 2 I would have thought but the voiceover says it's strength 4?

    • @markthomas3130
      @markthomas3130 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@matthewreynolds4382 I'm still learning myself to take with a huge pinch of salt.
      My understanding here is that the explanation at this point is a bit confused.
      The ICE in this case has a base strength of 2 (bottom left of the card). A runner's program needs to equal of exceed this in order to pass it. However, this specific piece of ICE (Pallisade) states that it's +2 if defending a remote server (i.e. a server that isn't your HQ (hand), Archives (discard) or R&D (deck/stack). It's not clear in the example if that is or isn't the case. The voiceover states that the card has a strength of 4 (2 base + 2 for defending a remote server), but then she goes on to say the runner's program can defeat it with 3 which shouldn't be correct. Unless the voiceover was wrong and the ICE was not protecting a remote in which case it's correct
      tl;dr The voiceover contradicted itself and it's not clear if the ICE should have had +2 or not
      To answer your question though, as far as I know, ICE doesn't automatically get a bonus for protecting a remote. However this specific ICE does as per it's card ability

    • @FranzBinder20
      @FranzBinder20 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was following until the test run. the ice breaks make sense to me aside from the first one. Palisade has 2 strength + 2 because its protecting a remote server, so thats a strength of four. The Cleaver Icebreaker has a strength of 3. Why is the cleaver allowed to interact with the barrier without having to pay 2 credits to then have 4 strength?

      They made a mistake.

    • @Mikewar1230
      @Mikewar1230 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The second ice is wrong too lol. They pay 2 credits to increase Unity's power but the card reads "pay 1 credit to add 1 strength for each ice breaker you have including this one" That means since it's 1 power you would only pay 1 to increase it's strength to 3 since you have 2 installed ice breakers.... Yet they paid 2 credits as if each credit gave Unity +1.

  • @Xiaoxiao738
