this is my edit of Mythical Island! new verses, unused and modified tracks, volume adjustments, and everything in between! feel free to check the pinned comment for the full list of additions/changes. enjoy the remix, and i’ll see you in the next Definitive video! :)

• Three new verses
- Intro, Pre-Chorus, Bridge
• Unused Cranchee track
- Added to the second Chorus
• Modified tracks for Cherubble, Buzzinga, Sporerow, Pinghound, and ShLep
- Modified to remix an existing track (Cherubble, Sporerow), help the song flow better (Buzzinga, ShLep), or to limit repetition (Pinghound)
• Volume adjustments
New Verse (Intro):
• G’joob, Sporerow
- Added to give the song an intro before the first Chorus
New Verse (Pre-Chrous):
• Castle, G’joob, Sporerow, Pinghound
- Added to build from the Intro and transition into the first Chorus
New Verse (Bridge):
• Castle, Cataliszt, Hyehehe, Pinghound, Wheezel, ShLep
- Added to transition from the second Chrous to the next verse more smoothly

@@theoriginalalex Well minus Anglow's 2nd track because in my opinion it clashes with the peaceful and lullaby vibe of the Cherubble verse. You know what I mean? That and it's too loud, it almost drowns everyone out in the second note near the end where it reaches max volume before dropping.
They should of given it its own verse like an extension of the Cherubble verse that grows more intense and dramatic over time or better yet, put Anglow and Pinghound in the Cranchee verse instead since it seriously lacks instruments which I feel it needs while every other verse got updated at least three times (minus the first two verses before the Cranchee verse).
cherubble is a simple png because we legally vouldn't chroma key him nor his blubberflies
(that, and i wouldn’t know how to animate his new track)

I so desperately wish in game islands were composed exactly like this. The build up at the beginning really made the song just feel complete, and all of the switch ups with the order really made the whole thing feel… well, mythical.

Been a while, hasn’t it? But hey, i’m just glad we’re back! I actually stopped really being interested about MSM around the monster school video, so the new monsters are completely foreign to me, and as such i’ll also be using this to react to them for the first time. Anyway, let’s get right into it!
So first off I love the slow peaceful start of g’joob, with the low, loud thuds of sporerow, and I really love the fact that that specific sporerow track was used since I found it at least WAS underutilized, and wow does it get use here!
Ooh yess pinghound! they add so much more life to this slowly growing song, even though it’s just two notes total, it still manages to make it much stronger.
Oh here we go the chorus! For the most part it seems identical to the original song except pinghound is used less, which somehow makes them better?? I’d assume it would be the other way around but seems not. Oh and I just noticed cataliszt is also used less, wild how that works better. Oh damn the removal of g’joob and hyehehe for the ending of the chorus makes it feel like a much better, smoother transition.
So first of all OH MY GOD I LOVE KNURV THEY SOUND SO GOOD! but aside from that this part seems like before, mostly unmodified, which was probably a good idea since it was a good verse before knurvs addition and knurv makes it so much better!!
HOLY- HOW ARE THE NEW MONSTERS THIS GOOD?! Yet again the new monster, buzzinga, absolutely blows me away, since strings are my favorite “class” of instrument.
This man did it! He implemented cranchees unused track! It’s a miracle! (Mostly) joking aside, i’m really impressed how well you did with his unused track, I didn’t think it had any place to fit in the song as it was so that’s just stellar work like normal!
Ooh the last of the new verses! the transition to the bridge was really smooth and i’m sure it’ll be the same for the end, but that’s getting ahead of myself. I feel like this group of monsters SHOULDN’T work together, yet somehow, they do! also that castle bass is so crisp I love it.
I knew it! The transition to chorus 2 WAS smooth! Honestly i’m still shocked how well anglow works on this island, but buzzinga still manages to steal the spotlight in my opinion. Ooh cherubble works better than normal here, big fan.
That final part with knurv, wheezel, cataliszt and sporerow is the perfect way to end, sounds vaguely desert like because of knurv but has an overall majestic feel to it, truly a good way to end.
Well, this was as fun as ever! I’m glad you’re back to doing this, (not that I didn’t enjoy your previous videos, I loved them) since I think you really have an ear for this kind of stuff. I suppose it’s time to go, as sad as that may be. Thank you for making this, and allowing me to, at least in some way, still feel connected to the MSM community. Goodbye, and have a nice day!

i’ve been looking forward to this review since the moment i posted this video. a HUGE thank you for all the feedback, and i’m glad you got to experience these new monsters through my rendition of Mythical Island :)
i’m also so happy that the use of Cranchee’s unused track and the monsters in the transitional verse caught your eye, i thought i was onto something when i was playing around with them.
i’ve also stopped playing MSM, or at least am on a break, but these Definitive videos are my favorite way to stay in touch with the series and the community. i’m glad to know that these videos allow you to take a similar approach as well, and i look forward to seeing you in the next Definitive video! (trust me, it’ll be one to watch…) :)
Ok, is it just me or is knurvs instrument LITERALLY the exact same as buzzinga???? Like are my ears broken???
Probably
Both use string instruments, but based on the names of plug-ins, Buzzinga uses a Middle Eastern string section while Knurv uses a yayli tambur

It just feels like mythical island, but slightly better. The soundtrack version should be something like this.
really glad my mix made it up to that standard! imitating the style of the game’s official soundtrack is what i strive for in every Definitive track
As much as I love your concepts for Definitive Islands and I loved this one for a long while, I feel like this one doesn't quite hit the mark for one simple reason and it's that the song in the game actually syncs up with the moon cycling in the background. The original song feels like a ritual for good sleep through the power of the moon and this version doesn't quite hit that mark

What chroma key do you use? Because Knurv and Buzzinga look pretty messed up
yeeeah, that’s just a limitation of the editing software i use for my videos. usually it looks fine, but not many people upload monster animations on a green screen, so the chroma detects the gray of Mythical Island’s island (which is a color present in a lot of monsters). do you have any suggestions?

I honestly think you should’ve made Hyehehe in the very first verse. It’s just such a good sound to begin the song with. With that aside this is absolutely AMAZING. You should definitely make more of these
