  • The parts for the Toros are identical to the Lawn-Boy parts, infact when you go to the Lawn-Boy website, it only brings up the modern part number!

    Very wise recommendation indeed. Regular cleaning of the drive wheel mechanism will keep it working almost forever and is definitely worth the effort since having to rebuild the ratchet system on these Lawn-Boys / Toros is quite challenging for any owner to perform and costly to have done at the dealership. Regards !

    I've delt with a lot of self propelled fixes mostly just greasing up and cleaning the gears but this is a great video going in depth on how to do it! Great video and nice new toro!!

    My Old 98' Lawn Boy has the same geared type RWD Wheels, I paid $52 recently plus shipping for a new pair for this 1998 lawn Boy. A few year ago I purchased a New Same Green Lawn boy of the same design and motor as my 98'', but the newer Lawn Boy RWD bogs down into the lawn when turning to make a new cutting pass. The problem is the newer Lawn Boy has more narrow wheels on the RWD. SO, I purchased two new wheels for my old lawn boy, and now I hope there interchangeable with the newer RWD Wheels, because those narrow wheels are junk especially when attempting to cut the lawn banks. Yeah, that newer lawn boy is three years old now, and I only used it three times, it was suppose to replace the old mower, which just keeps wanting to go to work on the weekends. I put a newer deck on it, and it looks and runs like new. The two mowers sit side by side in the garage and their hard to tell apart.

    Help me out bro. My zerk fitting broke on my lawn boy. How hard is it to change out that height adjuster assembly that has the grease zerk on it?

      @lawnboyR  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not hard at all, you just need to remove the pinion gear. Just make sure you have a pair of snap ring pliers.

      @@lawnboyR Thank you very much! So I won't need any type of puller to remove that stuff? Just a set of snap ring pliers? I checked out the parts diagram and it looks like a lot of stuff in front of that height adjuster assembly.

      To take off the pinion gear you will just need to take off the snap ring. I’m pretty sure there is a snap ring on the inside of the deck the holdes the height adjuster in place.

      Yea just snap ring pliers.

    hmm, I'm missing where you put the lawn-boy wheel on in place of the toro wheel. Are those 8" wheels?

    • @lawnboyR
      @lawnboyR  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are 8 inch wheels. I did not put the lawn boy on the toro as it was not the point I was trying to make.

      @@lawnboyR I don't see my reply now, maybe cause i put the toro part number link (shrugs). Thanks. At about 1:26 It mentioned swapping wheels. Looking at toros parts website for that serial and model it says its a 10" wheel so I had some confusion there. If you have a different part number id like it. I also saw that in another video you had gotten the commercial wheels for it. Do you have those part numbers available still?

      I like the orange wheel tread pattern better...

      @lawnboyR  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hdcamper8437 I’ll get back to your on the commercial wheels. They are nice but are about $60-70 a piece.

      @lawnboyR  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hdcamper8437 I’m not sure of the part number. And I wanted to correct myself. You were right I never did put the lawn boy wheel on the toro, or put the toro wheel on the lawn boy. I guess it just defeats the point if I didn’t even show it. Thanks for pointing that out!

    you have to do both sides on the toro ?

    Too much about grease instead of how to replace

      Ok, I am working on an updated version of this. Just have to edit it now.
