@elizabethhalberg7321 using a heavier oil has been shown to increase the problem with the variable valve timing system. And it will lead to engine failure
Lol, I had egg tacos for breakfast... Great minds.... I'm so sorry that you and van are not feeling well. Hope you both feel better asap. Sending big hugs❣️

Hello there scott I'm surprised you drove that far with the condition of your van. I'm glad you made it without any serious issues looking forward to seeing the next episode
You are visiting the best state in the PNW in my opinion. All the beaches are public owned. I live at the, 45 parallel halfway between the north Pole and the equator. Hope your visit is great.
Grants Pass is a wonderful place. Be sure to stop and say hello to the friendly people at the Dutch Bros coffee shop. I highly recommend the rest stop at Rogue River State Park a few miles south on I5; you can park for free outside the entrance: 42°24'43.01" N 123°07'45.64" W
I’ve seen it all around the country but drugs are your issue, people using and dealing at the rest stops. Dealers have found it’s a pretty conspicuous place since it’s not out of the ordinary for people to drive in and drive out pretty quick. Sometimes they’ll flat out just close them down. Sort of ticks people like me off who just wants to take a leak.
Scott you may want to check your spark plug wires. It happened to me once my car was loosing power and consumed way too much gas as normal. A mechanic friend of mine advised me to replace the spark plug wires and it took care of the problem after i changed it.
:) THANKS MUCH for sharing! Hope you get some rest and feel better soon! Maybe the mechnics you know can help with the engines issues! Take care and safe travels! Cheers ! !

Over here in the UK Scott we have to re gap our sparkplugs when new so not sure about over there, but yeah sounds like the timing is way off so low on power up the hills but if it's a common fault on them its not good. Anyway great to see you buddy 🤟🚐

I hope you are feeling better going forward. You know we wish you only the very best man! You are indeed a unique van-dweller most certainly! 👍👍
I know you're facing some engine troubles right now, and it can feel frustrating when you're on the road and things don't go as planned. But remember, every journey has its bumps, and it's these challenges that make the adventure truly worthwhile. Your spirit of adventure and determination will see you through., may the road ahead be smoother from here on out. All the best!
If the van struggling uphill and its been burning oil, check that the catalytic converter is not blocked. Easy check is to disconnect the exhaust just before it and see if the power improves.
The dealership had to fit a new one for free. So the engine could meet the emissions requirements. Unfortunately the engine oil burn isn't bad enough to be given a new engine at the moment. This was mentioned on a recent video.
Maybe you could check in at Angels Auto werke in mt. Angel. It’s near Silverton. He put a new engine in the Chevy express box truck I bought. He’s currently doing my rear brakes and doing something with the differential.

Just a suggestion for what its worth. That engine isn't going to get better...so....I would seriously think of selling it before it becomes unsellable. And at the same time look for a replacement. Unless the engine can be replaced. I'm sure you're contemplating your options. Its very unusual for me to find you in a current situation. In any event I wish you the best whatever you decide. The more reliable engine rebuild companies believe the problem lies with the variable valve timing system. I feel that we need to be clear on this fact as there are many people who are still interested in buying a ProMaster City.

Great video, good looking tacos, coffee is always a must for me also i do full-time vanlife over 4 years and know a ton about oregon, stay strong on the road and keep that motor going, you are a big encouragement to me and many others 😎🙏
Thanks Jeff
Can ya put a scan tool on that car? Any warning lights? I woukd check the trouble codes if their are any......
Seven Feathers up I-5, has a nice rest area, and the very best gas prices.. Good Luck!
I have used the scan tool, there are no errors
Glad to see you fresh and moving forward. What ankle bracelet though? 🙋🤷🌤️☕
Hope you feel better. Easy to spiral down as you lose energy. Sometimes buying food is the way. What is that grey variable speed controller for? Your roof fan?
Thanks, I am feeling much better. Yes, that control is a fix for a bad controller in the MaxxAir fan: th-cam.com/video/simnqJhSAuw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BJS53kZxvxkFuR9r
@@StaticCamperVan ah good. i have that one, i can't get the reverse to work for a computer fan 😞, i have a bunch of different ones, some work with brushless, others do not. Can't wait to get back down to OR.
This will sound strange but i miss Humbolt Cty....i kinda adopted it in virtual time. I love your videos.😊😊❤❤
I miss it too
What engine jas your car got and how many miles has it on the clock? I like ja kam way auf describing things 👍👍
2.4L Tigershark, I have a few videos on it
I hope you have a restful night and feel better tomorrow. Sending good thoughts for the van troubles too. Those tacos look amazing, I think I'll have egg tacos for dinner! 😁
Diced tomatoes, onions, salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce. Great with eggs or cooked beef mince with taco seasoning. Aussie style😊
Hi Scott...glad to see u moving about! Have u changed the fuel filter? Can't hurt. Safe travels
I am headed to GP in a week and a half for a meet up! Hope everything works out well
Have a great time. It’s such a beautiful area
Two mechanic brothers? You gonna share? 😅 "...an exciting walk..." LOL. Stay awesome. 👍🇨🇦😎🌊💫☕
Lovely park there for your overnight place to stop and rest.

That egg taco looked delicious... and the coffee, mm think I almost get a delightful whiff of it from here ~smiles
Sweet evening to you Static and Blessings
(Must admit, I'm a bit upset... very few emoji to choose from. Working with graphics, that's what I do)
Right now I will use the following. It's one of seven and because you had mentioned at close of your video to express, The Good, rather than The Bad or Ugly..
🎉 ~smile
OK
Doing better 🙋♀️☕️
Had gotten a new phone and somehow "lost my emoji"
Found them✌️
Hope things get better soon
There's a utubevan life gathering 🎉up in GP on the wknd 14th ..heat wave coming Wed. SALEM sucks 4 van life . Safe travels🎉
Try a can of "engine restorer" they sell it at Walmart and most auto stores...temp fix for your oil burning
Not a good idea with this issue
Was struggling to get up from an awkward sitting position, and when you said about the ankle bracelet I was all a'tumble😂😂😂
My now-ex and I drove to California from Vancouver BC..... (Oh my God can it actually be almost 30 years)... Mostly I -5 and some on the ocean Highway. The place that suck in my memory the most was Grant's Pass, so beautiful and I found it atmospheric❤
Sorry Linda Sue!
😁👍🏻@@StaticCamperVan
There is a pretty big rest area south about 10 miles I think also/
