Montenegro is definitely on my top 3 places to buy a house. Belize and Georgia are two other countries I’d consider. I’m Canadian but want to internationalize.

RoninBlue I’ve done more research since I posted this. Tbilisi Georgia has several great neighbourhoods with lots of coffees shops gyms and a thriving digital nomad community. TBC bank is one of the easiest for foreigners to open bank accounts in and prices are very low. A westerner could live well on less than $1000 USD a month including housing, food etc.

You will like it, I was there 2 years ago and from the first day, a felt home. Beautiful country and very nice places friendly people and cheap for western visitors.

I married a native Montenegrian and I plan to retire there soon. It's a beautiful country and I love the history and the many Monastaries there. The people are nice and yes, the language is a challenge but I purchased a great translator that will help until I can learn some basic sentences.
I learned the Montenegrin language in 1 year ))) Now I study English in LA
@@loykofitness, I am sure you are much younger than me. The older you get, the more difficult it is to learn new languages. Sure, I will try it but for now I will depend on my translator.

Deciding between Montenegro and Greece. For pensions, Greece has 7% tax rate, ME has 9% plus the surcharge whatever the local municipal government charges. Still would rather be in ME but the savings in Greece might run out. Greece has a double twin agreement with the US so my dividends won't get taxed to much.😅

No. No income tax for foreigners in Montenegro.
Is health care is free?
Beautiful and I would consider it if wasn't for the lack of English speaking people. Several Balkan languages are common. I'm sure they are not easy languages to learn.

Bulgaria is near by , if you want cheap real estate. Can get a whole house in a tiny remote town for 2,000. American dollars.

Too much variance in prices. I need a monthly rental of no more than 300 USD per month. Any more than that is only a bargain if you are moving here from Los Angeles or San Francisco.
Go to central-african republic or smh like that with your 300usd (275€). I rent a small appartment in some random place in Podgorica (not the coast, but non-touristic continental city) for that money. Cheers!
@@markopetricevic8805 Here in Thailand, 300USD is pretty standard for a small apartment. You don't have to go to Africa.

Worst country I’ve been to.
Mediocre at best.
People with no manners, bad food (I can’t emphasize this enough), poor infrastructure, horrible traffic… Yes it’s cheaper than it’s rivals in the territory but you get what you pay for. Never again.

This TH-cam presentation did not provide any information whatsoever for the retiring purpose - that is retired life in Montenegro. This is just a poorly presented tourist info.
Health care is not great... if a retiree has a serious emergency health problem, you might wish you picked another country. Also, no civil rights for gays and lesbians, and I suspect no criticism of the government. No doubt it's a scenic place with good weather.
This is my concern. How a country treats women, and the LGBTQ community, is a reflection of their deep cultural values. I really want to retire to Montenegro, but this issue of rights and treatment, and patriarchal attitudes concerns me.
@@frithbarbat Nearby Croatia is probably a much better and safer choice. The only reason Montenegro is even remotely a possibility is that they want to be in the European Union, and that is what is holding up their entry, and their risk of being thrown out one day. If they give up on that desire, they could easily get a lot worse, real fast.
@@fakerating Exactly. I am so drawn to the mountains of MNE, to a quiet and inexpensive life, but I don't want to live somewhere where domestic violence, for one thing, is commonplace.
@@frithbarbat No doubt, it's a beautiful country, I'm sure lots of positives... but the trade off for that inexpensive price is instability, health care that's subpar, and the unknown. If you are buying expensive beach property, I would be worried... but if you are just renting, or buying inexpensive property, and your health is excellent, probably not a big risk. I can agree on healthcare, it's in developement, after so many years of corruption. Yes, here people are more traditional (in general and mostly older gen) but the evidence that you're just ignorant is that we have gay pride every year. And when it comes to gouvernment, new more progressive political parties have came to power and
critical thought is essential in daily life in Montenegro. I mean, you're just too rude, extreme, and ignorant. Ofc, we're not Scandinavia, but, we're not medieval peasants either. We're actually great civilisation for most of countries and especially for one you're coming from. Wish you all the best!
