    Some ppl go overboard with this kind of stuff, but i enjoy how you explain things. Makes so much sense. Everyone needs to find a local farmer and get back to supporting smaller local farmers and not these huge mega companies that do not care about anything but money. Great info

      It does make a difference and I fully agree with you that we should all look up our local farmers and ranchers to directly support them. Develop a relationship with the rancher and you also know 100% what you are getting :)

      @@Kya_._Papaya exactly. If you even do a little bit of research into the food that they are selling at places like Walmart and just regular local grocery stores, all of the packaged products like crackers and snacks and everything. They are just so processed and have so much junk in them and always they have added sugar. Everything is just so expensive now. I would love to be able to eat more clean and there are some things that we can do but it's just unaffordable

    • @Kya_._Papaya

      @@MrScubajsb I feel ya on the affordability of eating clean and healthy. The stores make a killing off selling what most consider "niche" type health foods that only the wealthy can afford. I work extra days and double shifts just to be able to buy high quality meats and raw dairy. I live paycheck to paycheck because of this but its so worth it. I am getting better though at being crafty and finding ways to be able to afford amazing nutrition without having to buy a grass finished rib-eye a day. Choose the cheaper cuts(still grass finished) and lots of ground meats. Grocery outlet sells lamb for way cheaper and they save me so much money. Good luck out there and do what you can❤️🙏🏾

      @@Kya_._Papaya amen! Thank you! I mentioned to my mom and wife about how we are so used to buying just simple things like soda and snack crackers and little Debbie cakes and things like that. I said if we really wanted to get serious we could just add up what we spend in a month on the extra stuff that we don't need. Soda and all of the snack stuff that we buy three package and then the way that against how much extra be healthy eggs and milk and meat cost and I guarantee you we would be able to put that money towards buying healthier Staples. It's just hard when you're used to doing something. A certain way to change things is hard but I agree with you. It is well worth it. I do believe that a lot of sickness comes from the food we eat nowadays. Someone told my grandfather years ago they were talking about the food they used to eat when he was a young teenager and the doctor said what did you eat and he said we ate bacon and pork chops and gravy and onions and things that were grown in the garden and fried chicken and stuff like that he said. And what did you do after you ate that food and he said we went out in the field and worked. And the doctor told him he said the food that you ate was raised on your home farm with no junk and then you went out in the field and worked. He said what do we do today? He said we buy everything from Walmart and we sit on the couch and watch TV......... Ouch.

    We started eating grass fed a few years ago and buy it (and other things) from Sprouts. The quality and taste is so much better. To make up for the difference in price we only use half a pound instead of a full pound for many dishes. Thank you for reminding us about grass finished.

      I only eat one or two meals a day. One of my go-to meals consists of 1/2 pound of grass-fed and grass-finished beef (or bison or lamb), with a 4-egg omelet which also contains mushrooms. Great meal.
      PS - The best eggs are the one's with the darkest yolks, and here in DFW I have found that the best eggs are organic eggs that come from a company called Happy Eggs. I don't know how widely available Happy Eggs are though (Walmart sells the organic variety, but the Happy Eggs at Kroger are not organic).

    Talked to a local farmer last weekend about how he feeds his cows. We live in Canada and last winter there were days of -30 degree C. He does not beef up with corn and soy but he does feed grain in the winter. He said feeding grass is too stressful to the cattle. Since he raises his cattle, which you can see in the field grazing, and they are raised and finished at home then that is good for me.

    Now I understand why, when I cooked a burger back in Uruguay, it was so fat and juicy. Every single cow there is grass fed. Also, it doesn’t even get frozen (only 7degrees Celsius/45 Fahrenheit) till reaching the final consumer. They cut it in front of you at the butcher shop or supermarket.

      Can someone comment on the grass fed steaks at Walmart and the quality of them? Says grass fed grass finished from Jones creek beef. But seemed like it was the type of meat too be glued together. Was falling apart. But tasted amazing and was tender.

    • @microcolonel
      @microcolonel ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Being closest to the most natural food source is always key to good and healthy eating. I used to cringe as kid when my parents would insist on purchasing beef if they selected the cow they wanted (it was a common thing in our family to purchase one cow once a year and cook it as part of an elaborate feast for new years for family/friends) from a local cattle farmer and butchered it themselves. I thought it was too much work and it was a little traumatizing seeing a beautiful creature pass away before your eyes (although humanely and quickly). My folks are old fashion (yes they are the kind of Asians from the old country who prefer hands on approach to food if they can help it). Before any of this natural food craze took off (my family has been doing this since the 80s), as I got older and through my teenage years I came to realize that the farmer and his family really loved their cows. The cows were huge, happy, ate from the land and lived a pretty damn good life. I am forever thankful I got to experience the full cycle and the hard work it takes to put food on the table.
    If more people got a proper education on where their food sources come from, not only would we all end up wasting less food (including not over buying/ consuming more than what we need), the greed from major factory farms will be a thing of the past (of course it is up to us, the consumers to help make that happen), the animals, our health and of course our environment would be much, much better off.

    This is VERY good information and well-researched. Our factory farming isn't just terrible for the environment it's truly terrible for our health. Meat from factory farms has been so over-processed that it can damage your health in a variety of ways. Just one thing I was shocked to learn was that it's now "industry standard" for regular chicken and beef to get injected with so-called enhancing solutions which can contain not only huge amounts of salt water but also phosphates, antibiotics, taste-enhancers, and other chemicals that can harm us.

    We were an organic grass fed dairy up until the pandemic :(. Organic was in trouble for the farmer at that time, the $per hundred weight was plummeting and we could not sustain it any longer being a small 4th generation family owned farm in Vt that milked only 40 cows, (I cried for a year after we went out of milking, I loved all of our girls. We literally had 4+ generations of 1 cow her name was Baby, she was born here and her offspring to her great granddaughters that were all milking at the same time)! The farmer pays for everything, i.e., trucking, advertisement, dues, everything about our milk. It is sad when you make the best milk on the planet, but you can't afford to buy it for your family, you can't afford to take some raw milk out of the bulk tank because it takes alway from the bottom line. The one thing people probably do not know is that, conventional cows barely live to age 3yrs. While our girls being grass fed on pasture from Spring til November, and hay during winter months are living a very long, healthy & happy lives, our oldest cow was 15 and was still one of our best milkers (Baby). We still have a few cows and raise the baby's with their mama's on pasture. A few bulls every other year are our grass fed beef when they are 2 or 3 years old for our families. Ours tend to be very lean that I usually add our hens (that roam free and no grain for 8 months while eating grass, bugs etc.,) eggs to the mix to add flavor since so lean. The old saying "you are what you eat" really means something today! Thanks for these videos, just awesome!!!

      Sometimes the farm may be meeting the organic standards, but didn't go through the organic certification process. Sometimes this is due to financial constraints. So it's always best to find out the source and contact the farmer.

    There is a butcher and small grocery store a block from my home. I get meat there because the animals are treated right. No antibiotics and hormones. Pure organic meat from a local farm. Being single, I love that I can get the amount I want. At the supermarket, everything is set up for families and large groups. I would have to eat the same thing for a week to use it all.

    Awesome video friend! Get to know farmers and ranchers! Get to know companies that sell meat, that is the best way to support the farming/ranching practices you care about and want to support. The grocery store is tough because there is only so much you can convey in a label. Lower cost is tricky, cheaper is rarely better.

    I always buy my beef from a local farmer's market, it is extra lean though, so more like 93% lean, but I prefer that over fatty cuts of ground beef. It is always 100% grass fed, organic, no hormones or antibiotics ever. If you see ground beef in any grocery store and the color is a bright red, they have added colors and dyes to it, so avoid that stuff.

      Will depend if youre keto or what country you live in..some countries *cough usa* have disgusting standards for milk. Goat milk is a better option all around but i dont feel other animals need the milk of another animal. Over half of out planet is allergic to lactose or the proteins in cows milk..

    So Bobby...let me get this straight;
    non organic, non grass fed and/or finished beef is less expensive than the good stuff...even though the bad stuff costs more to raise??
    And the reason is because the good stuff is a better quality choice??
    While I appreciate the farmers who produce quality, I don't think that they should monopolize on our fear of getting sick (or for whatever reason we choose quality) by charging more when it costs less to produce.
    You are very vocal and you are very knowledgeable...and you've done us a great service by sharing what you have learned. Is it possible for you to go a step further and advocate for us on this matter since you have such a large following? Hope you agree. If not, you are still cool.

    Just for the record not all grain finished cattle uses GMO products. There are many many places that you can find that follow clean principles of raising cows, but find that grass raised green finished beef is more popular and tastes better. And you still get all the benefits of a grass fed beef without the antibiotics and GMOs
