Hi Mike I finally found this DSR vid. What a great help it is too‼For ages I felt like I was doing just fast singles, but counting out 1/16th notes it dawned on me that I'm doing (slightly untidy) doubles, so thanks again. I’ll keep on practicing for smoothness... ✌🌻
Man, others would make 4 or 5 videos out of the content here. Just like your vid on Moeller, this is the most useful double stroke session I've seen on TH-cam (and I watch a ton!). You helped a bunch of things click, thanks dude!
Thanks so much Michael, so glad you dug and thanks so much for the support on Buy Me A Coffee too. Really appreciate it man and thanks for watching 🙏🏻👊🏻
@@MikeBarnesDrums love your technique guides man, top notch! My pleasure on the coffee thing, I'm glad they have that so folks can paid for the value they bring, it's awesome.
Sure thing Kody, thanks for watching :) Loads more vids of this nature on my hand technique playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLcfoni8UPb9rSxcLAwNm4nzJt0YBUDstl.html
Hey man, thanks for watching. I have! Paradiddles: th-cam.com/video/cOn4d5FbB8M/w-d-xo.html Double Paradiddles: th-cam.com/video/w33gBi1teNA/w-d-xo.html Paradiddle-diddles: th-cam.com/video/xon9Hqfpnag/w-d-xo.html Loads more to come too. Cheers! Mike :)
I'm super stuck on doubles and paradiddles. I've been developing speed by inventing fills but I do need to nail those two at least at a decent speed. Will practice this and see how much time it takes me.
Hey Mike, i’ve noticed that you have been showing us this on a practice pad. I just wanted to ask, what’s a good practice pad to buy? There are many different types and i’m really not sure which one to go for. Thanks :)
Hi, am using a Roland Rhythm Coach here and I use that as my main practice pad, has a great feel and lots of useful features. But tbh most practice pads would do the job just great! :) Mike
Hi Mike I’m trying to keep my palm of my hands facing downwards toward the snare but find as I get quicker my palms are turning inwards a little facing each other and fingers are taking over which doesn’t sound as even. Do I need to to keep my palms facing downwards ? Thanks, great vid
Hi Mark, not necessarily - french hand position is very much a thing! (see here: th-cam.com/video/YFFbCVFzlhs/w-d-xo.html) Obviously though the sound should be even whatever hand position you use. Playlist about bounced doubles here: th-cam.com/play/PLcfoni8UPb9q2nNqDB6TXprHhMS6yGxqj.html Hope that's useful! and thanks for watching :)
So I saw! Thanks so much Richard - I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support, and I promise to put it to good use. Thanks again man :) Mike 👊🏻
Alright so I’m playing them pretty fast but they keep coming out in burst and kind of sound like a laundry machine. Or a car trying to start up after not being run for a long time
This guy is awesome! …… all his lessons are I think Mike is the best teacher on you tube without a doubt ….

Hi Tom, glad you dig man - pretty much anything with a steady pulse in 4/4 - Billie Jean?!

Cheers Joe!
Is this what people mean by 'push/pull technique'?
At about 140bpm the veins in my neck would be bulging like popeyes muscles :)
