  • This video demonstrates disassembly and removing old bearings from the GX75 mower deck spindle, following by the installation of new bearings and reassembly. Caution: this does involve a big hammer. The squeamish may want to look away.

Great to see someone else reworking this spindle. I did so recently on a Gx85 Deck. Unfortunately the spindle thread got damaged and I also had to rework that. Also The shaft was imbalanced after my hammer operation. So next time I would use a vice to press it out. For inserting the new bearings, just put them in the freezer before inserting. After that, warm them up and just slip in the frozen shaft. No more hammer needed for that.

if you put the other bearing in an assembly before you put your staff then you would have plenty of foundation to do you're driving but I would never impact bearings that way oppresses always in a controlled environment and control everything very slowly very gently you don't want to impact bearings

Hey Foggy, great video. I don't have the tools to replace the bearings myself, so I'm shopping for a whole new assembly. I can't seem to find one for the GX75 30" deck. Plus, I'd really like to find one with a zerk fitting. Any ideas? Could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance,
    Benton

Thanks for watching! Those older cast assemblies are hard to find, and I don't believe they made any with a zerk. You may be better off rebuilding it yourself and either borrowing the tools or finding a shop or garage that is willing to lend a hand. This job isn't too bad with a press.
