In a heated argument with an atheist girlfriend back around 1990, I said to her that it will be scientist that will prove the existence of God. Littles did I know that Dr. Ross had already done that.

A few days ago I "stumbled" on "Lights in the Sky, Little Green Men". I say "stumbled" in quotations because I just know that it was a God thing. Dr. Ross is a living, breathing miracle from God, because there's really no way humanly possible for someone who's an astrophysicist to be a pastor at the same time, and to reconcile science with the Word. Dr. Ross has DEFINITELY been gifted by God. Praise God and thank you Dr. Ross! Be blessed and shalom shalom.🕊

Thank you so much. I have memory issues. So a while ago, I'll think about the issue of suffering, and research it a lot, and then become satisfied... but then forget what I learned, and re-react to it from a new angle. It hurts knowing what I've forgotten, but the grace of God is that He patiently teaches me again through good scholars and studies.

If there were a god, then would there be any demand for scripture interpretations by various podium-jockeys using fantasyland vocabulary?
We really should address the social acceptance of large numbers of people speaking a fantasyland vocabulary & openly indulging in the deceit of religious belief as a tool of fascism.
These are the wolves in sheep's clothing, we know them by their works:
A wicked generation seeking signs when Jesus The Nailed says faith is worthless if you can't move mountains by issuing verbal orders to one.
Freud wrote the antidote to Christianity is literacy.
The Christians slapped their books on the Old Testament, & the Mormons glued theirs on to them both, thus proving Christians lack quality-control.
Look at the verbose podium jockey speaking of faith & prayer as if we all should have a preference for travel with one foot in fantasyland.
Nothing fails like prayer in a children's hospital, & there is talk as if God does not have a perfect record of doing nothing, as if we had no reason for the saying: God helps those helping themselves.
      A house divided cannot stand.
We vote because Christians have no quality-controls, & we desire those governing not making suggestions travel is best done with one foot in someone's fantasyland.
'Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.''
It was secular law & order ending the inquisitions & witch-killings.
One might expect a deity to make itself known to everyone without work performed in interpretations of old literature by guys like our verbose podium jockey.
Theologians acquire grand titles without certification from a deity, & project certainty using fantasyland vocabulary in an academic setting to compensate for lack of reason.

When I graduated from his institute I was blessed to participate in a foot washing with him. I was saved by people giving me his tapes back in 2002. Joined his institute in 2007. Went to his funeral and miss him and Nancy dearly. I have been looking into Michael Heiser and Ken Johnson. But I would love to know what Chuck thinks about the Biden theft of the election. One of his last public statements in 2016 after Trump’s election was “America got a reprieve”. Now I believe he might say we have received judgement.

Alexander - absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. He’s not asleep but his body is separated. Those who sleep in Jesus are referred to our viewpoint of them. Think of when Jesus spoke of Lazarus and the rich man. He was in Abraham’s bosom. He wasn’t asleep but wide awake. And so was the rich man in torment begging for a drop of water.

But what about children who go through pain all kinds of atrocities without their fault (like childhood trauma , bad stuff like getting molested) what can explain these horrible things . I would like to hear his response on this subject. I will appreciate if wise person like Dr. Ross can throw some light on this.

Good question. If we were not given free will (able to pick love or hate) we would all be robots. A robot saying "I love you" means nothing. I did not learn this till I had kids, my kids of their own free will telling my wife and I: "I love you" is priceless and real love. This free will is given to all, not just some. Jesus said "but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea." Matthew 18:6. God cares about little ones. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Do not look only in the short term. God's Word tells us, he is making a new place, with no pain, suffering and death.

Dr. Ross gave a long-winded explanation for why God permits suffering and his reasons are unscriptural.
He is always explaining scripture through the lens of science and that is like putting square pegs in round/wrong holes. He is like the religious leaders of Jesus' day whom he told "you make the word of God invalid by your tradition". He failed to let the scripture interpret itself like he says should be done, but instead puts his own scientific ideas above God's holy word. For all his scientific mumbo jumbo there were no supporting scriptures.
The reason for suffering is very simple. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, their disobedience brought sin, suffering, and death to them and all their offspring. God couldn't end suffering immediately because an issue was raised in Eden by Satan that had to be settled once and for all time and time was needed to settle it. God had told Adam plainly that eating the forbidden fruit would result in death but Satan brought the rightfulness and righteousness of God's rule into question when he told Eve that God was lying to her and holding back good from her. He told her “you certainly will not die. For God knows that in the very day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and bad.". Gen 3:4
In other words, she would be better off, she would be independent of God and able to decide for herself what is right and what is wrong. This applied not only to her but to all mankind. So time was needed to prove whether mankind was really able to rule themselves successfully independent of God. The thousands of years of man's rulership filled with misery have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are incapable of self-governance. Jer 10:23
There is another reason why God permits suffering, Satan raise a second issue that involved the righteous man, Job. He claimed that Job (and by extension all of us) only serve God out of selfish motives and not out of love, and if we were to suffer we would turn our backs on God. This issue also needed time to be proven since it involves every one of us. Job 1:8-12
Once these two issues are finally settled to God's satisfaction he will destroy Satan, the demons, and all the ungodly, and the righteous will live forever on the earth free from suffering and death. Rev 20:10,14,15; 21:8; Psm 37:29

Question: my whole life, except for about 8 years of it, I've been working jobs I never really had a passion for. I work out of necessity; have to feed the kids, pay rent, etc... being that I haven't really used my talents and things I really love to do, what I have a natural bent for, and a love for (music), then what would I do in eternity? I would really dislike answering phones for eternity, or doing paperwork, or handling claims, or waiting tables, all the jobs I've hated and just worked to put food on the table. Hopefully you get the point. I sure would like to know I'll sing in heaven, or play my guitar. Now THAT gets me excited.

In fact it was the Reasons To Believe organization that helped me retain my faith walk for a really difficult time in my life, though in the end I’m not able to hang on to my beliefs with any degree of high confidence. Most atheists ask why people in this world suffer. In my humble opinion, it should be perfectly clear, especially if you understand sports. But sometimes what is right in front of you, can be obscure.
Suffering can be compared to the relationship between a GOOD coach and his players. A good coach is not going to coach you without putting you through physical, emotional, and psychological "suffering." This suffering is not to hurt you, but to build upon your strengths, and more importantly, to train you to turn your weaknesses into NEW strengths, and eventually eliminate your weaknesses all together. In addition, this suffering tells the coach whether or not you are loyal to the team and are willing to fight against the temptations to leave the team, go against the team, or even worse, go against the coach.
Christ is our coach, and the trials of this world cannot be overcome without his training. We have the choice to resist that training, or accept it upon faith in His wisdom. This suffering is found in the creation of all life as the necessary component needed in order to move EVERYTHING forward in time so that ALL THINGS are moving closer to God's plans for the future. In nature, we see this in erosion, fires, floods, and many natural disasters, when after such disasters, new life is born. Why would it be any different with us? It wouldn't.
This should show us that just as in nature, where new and wonderful things grow out of "disasters," the "disasters" in our lives, allow for the same things to happen to us because they are a necessary component of ALL LIFE transforming, and moving forward.
One might see the end of the world as the final disaster that will happen in this universe. But in reality, that disaster is also going to give birth to new life. Namely ETERNAL life, along with a perfect and ETERNAL new world.
Therefore, as this world and we move forward in this process, let us not lose sight of our hope. After the world and our bodies pass away, Christ's offer of redemption will finally come to fruition.. and a new heaven, a new earth and a new body will be given to us for eternity. That is the hope that we look forward to, and why we are being trained "so hard" in THIS life. It is to prepare us, vet us, and transform us into servants that have been tested, tried and transformed into new beings who no longer desire to sin and only desire to live for and obey the Lord.
Finally, when you are being tested, and suffering is taking place, just know that Christ is training you, and as you progress in your training and LEAN ON THE WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING OF GOD'S PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE, this training will cause the desire to sin to be removed from your body, eventually causing ALL of your "weaknesses" to become strengths through the power and training of Jesus Christ.
And then, when you reach the end of your training, "when the rotting body has been clothed in what can’t decay, and the dying body has been clothed in what can’t die, then this statement in scripture will happen: Death has been swallowed up by a victory." (1 Corinthians 15:54)

Gods wisdom is so much higher than ours. Hugh is sadly so enamoured with his own brilliance. With arrogance we tend to go well beyond what we know, or can observe and start believing our own conjecture. I find Hugh, excellent and helpful in many ways but incredibly dangerous. Pride is one of the biggest things warned against and humility praised. Please listen to him in the light of Gods wisdom, and what we can actually observe and work out without accepting, unchallenged ,what man claims beyond that.

@@MutsPub I’m sure he a lovely man and he puts a lot of effort into looking at things and sharing the ‘reason for the hope’ he has in him, which I am very grateful for and I can see there is a lot of good that he does and people that he has helped.
Jesus only answered a few of the many questions he was asked instead he drew out of people the knowledge and abilities God gives to us all. I don’t want to knock Hugh but I would caution anyone not to set themselves apart as a ‘scholar’ or to be dismissive of other Christian’s interpretations. I would encourage them to admit the strengths of others positions.
For example to say ‘there is “no evidence” for a world wide flood when the continental granite ‘floats’ higher than the basalt seabed on the molten core, yet they are covered with thick, extensive sedimentary rock layers laid down under water, is absurd.
We are to judge by people’s fruits, I can see someone’s fruits from what they say in public without knowing them in private. The second part of 1 Peter 3. 15 says to do so with ‘gentleness and respect’. I’m not always good at doing that but I think it is vital that we aim at it. I also think we must be wary of any teacher who claims to ‘know’ better than others. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and claiming exclusive truth should make us fear God.

I, too, appreciate his scientific way of looking at and explaining some things we question (for instance, why viruses are necessary for life on earth). Grant you, his theories aren't Gospel, but they are compelling, and for all we know many of them may be completely accurate. Even so, I totally agree with you about The Flood. God said He would destroy ALL creatures that had the breath of life in them, save Noah and his family (including his daughters-in-law). Thus, while I understand what Dr. Ross is saying regarding a local flood (I've learned it's a common teaching in Canada which is where Dr. Ross is from), I don't agree with it. I believe the Bible regarding a worldwide flood. I also don't believe the earth is billions of years old (though I used to, because it's what I was taught in school). I see most spiritual values come from the poorest people who labor and persevere and suffer the most. I believe this aligns with Jesus's gospel and with everything I see around me. Dr. Ross is blaming God for our suffering. He is doing the work of the Devil, God is not responsible for our suffering, Satan is. Satan tried to get Job and others to blame God for all his suffering even though he was the one who was causing all of Job's suffering, as Job chapter 1 and verses 7 to 22 show.
Job chapter 1 and verse 16 say "While he was still speaking, another one came and said: “Fire from God fell from the heavens and blazed among the sheep and the servants and consumed them! I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”. Note that the servant thought that God was responsible for this disaster. Why? Because the fire "fell from the heavens". This was a cunning and deliberate effort by Satan to put the blame on God for Job's calamity, something like what Dr. Ross is doing.

If we were not given free will (able to pick love or hate) we would all be robots. A robot saying "I love you" means nothing. I did not learn this till I had kids, my kids of their own free will telling my wife and I: "I love you" is priceless and real love. So no Hugh is not blaming God.

Jesus said we people will all suffer for HIM , as he suffered and was separated from God while he was he was on the Cross for a few seconds and asked Why hast though forsaken me? , I always wonder why are so many people suffering just like Jesus said we would if we weren't Children of God?
Self Proclaimed Atheists that I know also are suffering a great deal as well, with disease etc? so Who are Atheists suffering for then? is it because they were baptized as a little Baby , then abandoned their faith or belief in God due to suffering , but because their parents had them Baptized or Christened as a Baby that they are Saved somehow by Mercy and Grace and there fore they suffer as Jesus Suffered and as his followers and Believers suffered? We cannot honestly say that Christians don't suffer cause their saved and the steeped in their Faith ,We can't really know what causes an Atheist to suffer , but many Atheists who have Come to Christ, who have Repented and accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour are now Proclaiming that they are no longer suffering from the Disease and Affliction that once plagued them ,like Job, is God allowing the Serpent to causes our Suffering the way he allowed Satan to Torment and Test Job???

Dr. Ross is misleading Christ's sheep and would be adversely judged by God for it. Jude 1:10 and 2 Peter 3:16 find their fulfillment in him, they say --------------------------------------------
Jude 1:10: But these men are speaking abusively about all the things they really do not understand. And in all the things that they do understand by instinct like unreasoning animals, they go on corrupting themselves.
2 Peter 3:16: speaking about these things as he does in all his letters. However, some things in them are hard to understand, and these things the ignorant and unstable are twisting, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. We though should heed verses 17 and 18 which say "17 You, therefore, beloved ones, having this advance knowledge, be on your guard so that you may not be led astray with them by the error of the lawless people and fall from your own steadfastness. 18 No, but go on growing in the undeserved kindness and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

Neither can Christian apologist, (grounded in belief and faith) nor an atheist, who demands factual, observable evidence that God exists in the first place, win this argument. Another example would be using the "Book Of Job" upon which to base an argument regarding God's omnipotence. In this case, discussing it's historical impact and utility would be far more useful.

To me that would make since the 7th 1000 year we will be free of sin. A smaller scale was used when there was Jewish slaves. For six years they would be slaves and the 7th year they would be free. Or a family member could free them before that. And so Jesus had the right to free humans from sin slavery because he took the death penalty. The seventh day Adventist explain the similar parralles of the two scales. I don't get why some say we were here 10000 years or many more years than that. Sounds made up. After the 1000 years we will be tested again. Maybe I'm wrong or not a big deal in grand scheme of things.

Hebrews 4:9-10: "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." This tells us that the 7th day has not ended. Thus day 7 is a long time span, thus day 1 to 6 must be a long time span. Each believer are to enter into day 7. Also there no "evening and morning" for the 7th day. As day 7 as not ended.
Biblical Hebrew has a limited vocabulary, with fewer words compared to other languages, such as English or Spanish. This means words often have multiple meanings determined by context. Day - yom is commonly rendered as day in English translations, but the word yom can be used in different ways to refer to different time spans thus literally is:
      Sunrise to sunset
      Sunset to next sunset
Time period of unspecified length. (long time span ).

The universe (space and time) was created 13.787 ±0.020 billion years. The Bible says that space and time were created (Big Bang). This has been checked, proven and measured with many tools and they all agree. The Bible is correct and it took man (science many years to have the tools to see his handy work). The beginning of the universe was the beginning of space and time. The Bible correctly records that time was created, time had a beginning. See 1 Corinthians 2:7, 2 Timothy 1:9, and Titus 1:2) The universe is finite and expanding. Just as the Bible stated thousands of years ago. To deny the existence of a Creator is an error.

The same "judge" who sentenced us to death is the same who took the punishment on his own shoulders by going to the cross and there was forsaken by God.
Jesus is God, who became man. God and man in one person...

The title is very misleading, a "trick" question, if you will. To say God does or does not "allow" things to happen in our lives is plain stupid. It has no answer because the question is illegitimate. God ONLY responds to faith. He is sitting on his thrown 'resting'... still in day 7 of creation. The power of life and death is in Our tongues, not God's. We reap what we sow, period. All God can do is watch. That's like saying God allowed satan to hurt Job, no Job reaped what he sowed. This line of reasoning is invalid.
