🌹What a blessing Dr. Ross is from God to His church! Hugh Ross appears to be instrumental in God's plan to gear up His church in the final chapter of history, reaching the world that looks to science for answers. May my heart and yours move according to His plan and purpose.🌹

A lot of his science explains things in the book of Job and Genesis but unfortunately, Dr. Ross puts science before God. He tries to explain scriptural matters through science and speaks as though it's facts, thus misleading people.

Hugh Ross is obviously very well educated in astrophysics, and I have enjoyed listening to him this week, so I thought this topic of the trinity would be interesting to watch. Will he be able to convince me that the trinity is true.
I checked his first scriptural reference at 37.09. He calls the Son: God the Son. Then says God the Son bestows life. I went to 1 John 2 and read the chapter. It says in v25 this is the promise which he has promised us - eternal life. First of all it says "HE". So, not 100% clear that it is referring to the Son, it could possibly be referring to the Father. But given the benefit of the doubt, promising eternal life is very different to actually having the power to give us eternal life. Jesus said "I can of my own self do nothing. the Father who dwells in me, he does the works. John 5v26 says "For as the Father has life in himself, so has he given the Son to have life in himself."
A careful look at 1 John wil show that when God is mentioned it always refers to the Father. God is light (1v5), for example, is the Father because in v7 it is the blood of HIS Son which cleanses us from all sin. The word "HIS" being a reference to the God of v5. So, all he does really is brings his doctrine to the text and finds the three (father, son and spirit) whereas God is the Father rather than all three. The only doubtful reference of the son being God is at the very end of chapter 5 where some think that Jesus is the true God and eternal life whereas some trinitarians such as John Stott thinks this is also referring to the Father.
1 John seems to be a miniature of the whole bible where God is almost always a single person (he, him, I, me, thee, thou as opposed to they, them, we, us, you, ye) namely the Father, and Jesus is his Son, the messiah, a man. Of course there a few texts which appear to contradict this, but they are mostly either double-meaning, bad translations, accidental or deliberate (who knows) copyist mistakes.

Dr. Ross quoted the scripture in 1 John 1:5 that says that "God is light" but goes on to mislead people as to what that light is. Verses 6 to 10 made it clear what this "light" is. Verses 6 and 8 identify the "light" as "the truth", and verse 10 as God's "word". So the "light" is God's word of truth. If a person put his or her own opinions and ideas above God's word as Dr. Ross does on numerous occasions then they will never find the true meaning of scripture. When approaching the scriptures we need to leave our preconceived ideas behind. The scripture interprets and explains itself, so if we want to understand any scripture then all we need to do is to find as many scriptures as possible that speak on the subject, and with God's holy spirit we will get the required understanding. If Dr. Ross had done that to ascertain what the "light" is, for instance, he would have come across Psalm 119:105 which says "Your word is a lamp to my foot, And a light for my path." and he would have known that the "light" is God's word of truth. So according to 1 John 1:5 God is light in that he is both the source and the very embodiment of spiritual truth. Jesus said that he was the "light of the world", (John 8:12). What made him the light of the world? John 18:37 and 1:7 answer when it says that he came to "bear witness to the truth" or "light". Jesus also said that his disciples are the "light of the world". (Math 5:18) How are they the light of the world? Because he sent them to carry on the work of bearing witness to the truth, he passed the baton to them so to speak. (Math 28:19,20; Acts 23:11; 10:42). In contrast, Satan is "the father of the lie" (John 8:44). Also, anyone who teaches or accepts things contrary to scriptural truths becomes his spiritual "children".

I agree. And what he is preaching is also false, the trinity is a pagan doctrine that is found nowhere in the Bible. And the Bible says that "God is love", he is the very personification of love so he doesn't need to have anyone to express love. Even we imperfect humans can express love all alone because we can love ourselves. The scripture says we have to love our neighbor as ourselves, so we have to love ourselves first in order to apply that scripture.

@@SamytheGreekFirstly let me say that I love listening to Dr. Ross when it comes to science and I have benefitted a lot from his explanations of scientific things spoken of in the books of Genesis and Job. Now in response to your question - I am no scientist, and neither do I need to be. What I am and have been for about 30 years now is a minister of God. I have preached to hundreds of people of many different religions, on a person-to-person basis explaining Bible truths to them. I live by, preach, and teach the Bible, and nowhere in the Bible is being a scientist a criterion, a prerequisite, or even qualifies one to be a teacher of Scripture! Hugh Ross and his colleagues may be geniuses in their scientific fields but they don't even come close when it comes to scripture. Jesus didn't choose highly educated men to be his Apostles, he chose simple men! One reason for this is because "knowledge puffs up" or makes one proud and as a result it causes one to do what Dr. Ross is doing, they "rely on their own understanding" rather than God and his word. (1 Cor 8:1; Pro 3:5,6) As the Apostle Paul said, "God chose the foolish things of the world to put the wise men to shame". I have been fortunate enough to be one of those "foolish things" that God uses. (1 Cor 1:27).
In addition, understanding spiritual truth is a privilege granted by God; not everyone receives it. God chooses who he reveals his word to as Luke chapter 10 and verse 21 show when it says "you have carefully hidden these things from wise and intellectual ones and revealed them to young children". (Mark 4:11,12) So while one might conclude that because Dr. Ross is an intellectual he would understand what the scriptures mean on the contrary that might be the very reason why he doesn't understand. As you can see I do what Dr. Ross fails to do which is support everything I say with scripture. Dr. Ross promotes his own opinions as though they are biblical facts. Hugh Ross believes and preaches the "Trinity" which is a pagan God-dishonouring doctrine. God warns and encourages us in 1 John 4:1 which says "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. If Hugh Ross was a true Christian he wouldn't be teaching false doctrines as he does, instead, he would be fulfilling Matthew 24:14 and obeying Jesus' command recorded in Matthew 28:19, 20 by preaching extensively about God's Kingdom. But unfortunately, he doesn't know what the Kingdom is nor what it will do.
The last link shows true Christianity. Hugh Ross, John Lennox, and many other brilliant scientists whom I love to listen to don't even know the reason why God permits suffering even though the answer is right there in the Bible. They don't even know something as simple as what the theme of the Bible is, they think it's all about personal salvation. th-cam.com/video/MPm6Y-pANYI/w-d-xo.html

Dr. Ross said that if God was one person then there would be no "love" since before he created anyone he would have had no one to express it to but the scripture says something entirely different. The scriptures say that God has four main attributes, love, wisdom, justice, and power but it doesn't say that he IS wisdom, justice, or power, but it says that he IS love. God is love, he is the very embodiment or personification of love. God is complete in himself, he doesn't need anyone in order for him to be complete, he was complete even before he created his firstborn spirit son whom we now know as Jesus. God is love, he doesn't need anyone in order to be who he is! Dr. Ross' statements are preposterous, it's more absurd than saying that I can't have money if I have no one to spend it on or nowhere to spend it, or I can't have time if I have no one to spend it with. In the case of money, I can spend it on myself or not spend it at all, and in the case of time, I can spend it by myself.
And I guess he never read the second commandment in Leviticus 19:18 that says: ‘you must love your fellow man as yourself.' If we are to love our fellow man as ourselves then we have to love ourselves first. We can love ourselves and express that love to ourselves even if we are alone, we don't need anyone in order to express love. And since we are created in God's image and likeness and God is far superior to us then why can't he?

Dr. Ross doesn't know what a cult is. A cult is "a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object." Not believing in the pagan doctrine of the Trinity doesn't make a church a cult, it may make them less of one. He makes statements that have no support whatsoever in the Bible. His church is more of a cult than any he mentioned because people are led by him and his scientific views, not scripture. He said that science only makes sense from a triune perspective. So in other words he is more concerned about making sense of science than about seeking and finding the truth. Rather than comparing all the scriptures that speak about the "nature" of God so as to understand God's word, he uses equations. So he has placed himself above God, his word, and Christ, making himself a false Messiah. It is necessary to put all teachings to the test. "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world". 1 John 4:1. “Be on the watch for the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. Math 7:15. In answer Jesus said to them: “Look out that nobody misleads you, for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. Math 24:4,5.

    What about the Rapture

  • @michaelprince6798
    @michaelprince6798 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The reason why the Jews believe that God is a single person is that the Bible says so. The Bible was completed in the first century C.E. Teachings that led to the development of the Trinity began to be officially formulated in 325 C.E.-more than two centuries later-at a council in the city of Nicaea in Asia Minor, now Iznik, Turkey. According to the New Catholic Encyclopedia, the creed attributed to the Council of Nicaea set out the first official definition of ‘Christian orthodoxy,’ including the definition of God and Christ. So like the Pharisees of old, Dr. Ross and others are teaching commandments of men as doctrine. The words of Matthew 15: 6b- 9 apply to them, "So you have made the word of God invalid because of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you when he said: 8 ‘This people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshipping me, for they teach commands of men as doctrines.’” So Dr. Ross said that if God is a single person then he couldn't have experienced love before he created another person. He says "God must create in order to experience love", and "one person with no creation there is no love", and he posed the question "how do you explain the origin of love?" The problem with Dr. Ross is he is disregarding the scripture. The truth is right there in the Bible but he puts his scientific ideas above God's word of truth. So, Dr. Ross, how do I explain the origin of love? Simple, it had no origin, love had no beginning. The scripture says that God IS love, and since God had no beginning neither did love.1 John 4:8 Moses said in prayer to Jehovah: “You have always been, and you will always be.” (Psalm 90:2, The Holy Bible, New Century Version)

Dr. Ross stated that how you can tell if a person is a true follower of Jesus Christ is if they believe in the Trinity, but actually, the opposite is true since the Trinity is not a Christian, but a pagan doctrine. 1 John 2:22 says; "Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son." Even a toddler knows the relationship between a father and a son, that one springs from the other and as such is younger than the other, and is subordinate to the other. The same applies to Jesus as stated in the following scriptures. Jesus sprang from God: John 3:16 says that Jesus is the "only begotten" son of God. The word 'begotten" means to bring into existence as in the case of a son, which makes him younger than Jehovah God who is eternal. Jesus was the only person created by God alone. Jesus is subordinate to God: That same scripture also says that Jesus was sent by God. In John 13:16 Jesus stated this principle, "Most truly I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him." In John 14:28 he further stated plainly "the Father is greater than I am." Jesus has a "head", or someone whom he answers to. God.1 Corinthians 11:3 says, "But I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn, the head of a woman is the man; in turn, the head of the Christ is God." 1 Cor 3:23 in turn you belong to Christ; Christ, in turn, belongs to God. Ephesians 1:3 Praised be the GOD and FATHER of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As such in John 8:28 he is recorded as saying, " I do nothing of my own initiative; but just as the Father taught me, I speak these things. There are things that are impossible for God, one is to lie. Heb 6:18. It is also impossible for him to be taught anything since he is all-knowing, but John 8:28 quoted earlier said that Jesus was TAUGHT by his father, and Hebrews 5:8 said that "he learned obedience from the things he suffered." Obedience to whom? To his father, Jehovah God! It is also impossible for God to die since he is immortal, but we all know that Jesus died and remained dead for three days. So the belief in the false doctrine of the Trinity could never be the identifying mark of true Christianity, the identifying mark of true Christianity is the one that Jesus gave when he said "By this all will know that you are my disciples-if you have love among yourselves.” John 13:35. Another way we can tell who is Christ's true disciples is whether they are carrying out Jesus' command in Matthew 28:19,20 and fulfilling Matthew 24:14. Jesus said that his true disciples would cover the earth with their preaching and teaching and he even said what the theme of their preaching would be, "the good news of the kingdom". The "kingdom" is a government in the heavens that will rule over mankind on earth, making the earth a paradise. Dr. Ross is twisting the scriptures and misleading many and thus proving to be an anti-Christ. He puts his own views and opinions above scriptural trues. He also tries to use science to explain scriptures that cannot be interpreted by means of science, scriptures interpret other scripture. God cannot be explained by means of equations! If someone doesn't know the identity of God then they really don't know God at all!

The Trinity IS NOT a Bible doctrine, it was adopted by the church from pagan religions after the prophesied apostasy occurred. Acts 20:29,30. According to the Nouveau Dictionnaire Universel, “This Greek philosopher’s [Plato, fourth century B.C.E.] conception of the divine trinity . . . can be found in all the ancient [pagan] religions.”-(Paris, 1865-1870), edited by M. Lachâtre, Vol. 2, p. 1467. The New Catholic Encyclopedia states: “The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”-(1967), Vol. XIV, p. 299. So the Apostles knew and spoke of ONE GOD, not a Trinity. 1Cor 8:6,7. The New Encyclopædia Britannica says: “The doctrine developed gradually over several centuries and through many controversies. . . . By the end of the 4th century . . . the doctrine of the Trinity took substantially the form it has maintained ever since.”-(1976), Micropædia, Vol. X, p. 126. Both the Apostles and the Jews believed and held to what the Bible said, that God is one, not a Trinity. Deut 6:4;1Cor 8:6,7. Jesus said his father is greater than him. John 14:28. Jesus has a God and father. John 20:17. God is eternal but Jesus had a beginning and that is why he is called "the son of God'". Who gave Dr. Ross the authority to substitute the word tribulation with "thermodynamics"? Thermodynamics and tribulation are two entirely different things. The law of thermodynamics is something that happens naturally, but the scripture in 2 Thessalonians 1:6 says "This takes into account that it is righteous on God’s part to repay tribulation to those who make tribulation for you." which is a deliberate act. The "great tribulation" is not a result of the laws of physics, it is the result of the actions of wicked people. Math 24:21; Rev 7:14. So much of what he says is unscriptural, and that is partly because he tries to explain everything through the lens of science, and he doesn't have enough respect for God's word so he substitutes and replaces God's words with his. The judgment for that is severe. Rev 22:19

Do you believe Dr Hugh Ross believes In science more than he believes in God?
The way I'm looking at it is Dr Hugh Ross doesn't have enough faith to blindly believe in the existence of God, so he used science to get him there.
I started believing by going straight into believing. Then reading the bible helped my journey, which has been a difficult one. What confuses me is listening to other people go on about what is right and correct doctrine. Because either is all different.
