- In this video, I’m comparing two iconic Frederic Malle fragrances: Carnal Flower and Lipstick Rose. Both are stunning floral creations, but they take very different approaches. Carnal Flower enchants with its lush, green tuberose and creamy white floral notes, while Lipstick Rose exudes vintage glamour with its powdery rose, violet, and sweet cosmetic vibe. I’ll break down their scent profiles, longevity, and versatility to help you decide which of these masterpieces belongs in your collection. Don’t miss this deep dive into Frederic Malle’s floral artistry!

I just came here to say thank you for your professional work, honest opinion, non paid and mature nose, I know this is sound so selfish but I wish you stay like that and no company would reach you for sponsorship or so 😁🫣 all our lovely reviewers once the companies sponsor them they lost their honesty, it’s so hard at this moment to trust them, anyway I do really appreciate your channel and wish you all the best ❤
@@christinayoussef7482 thanks so much! I don’t plan on accepting any fragrance related sponsors and I don’t want to make this my job 🙂
@ Glad to hear that 💃🏻🥰
3 sprays of carnal flower 😵💫 it’s a BOMB a gorgeous potent bomb at that. Very confident man or woman would wear this. Excited for this review! Back to the vid
@@theworkingkitchen7325 it’s wonderful, it’s very loud but also very beautiful, I don’t find it offensive 😬
I am wearing Carnal Flower today, perfect timing Daniel! I love it and don't pay much attention to masculine or feminine leaning labels. If I like the scent, I will wear it. Great review as always.
@@SimonDeMarco wonderful scent, totally agree with you, the intro was just a tease 😜
Love that u mentioned Iris Nazarena, was looking at options for my first Iris fragrance since I heard disappointing things about DHP2025.
Can’t wait for your review!
@@Joelsugiarto that is SUCH a a good fragrance: deep, dusty, cold; absolutely beautiful
@@SeldomlyOften Great to hear! Can't wait to get my nose on it, I should get a sample soon
Today I'm on my way to Holt Renfrew today to try Frederic Malle fragrances for the first time! At the top of my list to try are Portrait of a Lady and Musc Ravageur. So this is very timely! I'm looking forward to this experience. Thank you Daniel! I very much appreciate your content!
@@CarryOn-Janet let me know how this went! Tried anything else?
@@SeldomlyOften Yes, I got samples of Creed Delphinus, Centaurus, and Carmina. I have Queen of Silk, and I still think QoS is the best of these new releases. Delphinus is the second, while Centaurus comes in third only because it's very masculine on me. Carmina doesn't last on me, while these other three have great longevity. I also tried Guerlain Spirituese Double Vanille (I love vanilla notes and apparently this is supposed to be The Goat vanilla). They didn't have a sample, and I didn't want to spray on skin because I was trying to keep my skin for my top two. So only on blotter for that one. It's gorgeous! Other investigations included the Hermès Hermessence line at the exclusive Hermès boutique at Holt Renfrew. Ambre Narguile was beautiful on blotter. Need to try that one on skin.
As for Portrait of a Lady and Musc Ravageur, I appreciate them but they are not for me. I also got my four samples from Xerjoff and More Than Words has an intoxicating top notes. I thought I'd found my next gem aquisition, but the lower notes are more generic and oud/rose 2 dimentional. Wish the top notes lasted forever as it was beautiful! Alexandria II was interesting.... need to spend more time with these last two. Libre and Italica were a No for me.
@ thanks so much for detailed report! The Xerjoff MtW is really nice 👍
Yes! Bring on the Malles!
@@orosz4001 more to come!!!
Daniel, great review. I think perfume is designed to be worn by anyone. A lot of it has to do with ones confidence.
@@igorkokozov4862 I 100% agree, in fact the intro was just a tease and “answer” that question in the end.
Love wearing florals when it's cooler outside. Had a generous decant of Lipstock Rose that ended up mostly evaporating, but that was long before I knew what I was doing. 😄 I think you described the scent well. 🌹
@@justaddlight thanks so much! Lipstick Rose is a pretty ballsy scent, you definitely need some confidence for that one, man or woman. It’s super fun though!
Excellent review.A friend of mine has carnal flower as her fav ,I will pass this review on to her ,I think she will find it interesting.
@@nathansmith-nd9nq the opening of this is MAGICAL, great choice right there 👍
Straight to the point..you re awesome 🤍
@@Stevepalt thanks so much for the comment 🙂
Glad to hear your opinion on CF and LR: they are beautiful. My soft-spot for Malle and Ropion is no secret, but I have issue with the dry-down of CF, too creamy too clean, too generic; when the enfant prodige at 27 y.o. created Ysatis, the drydown was all another story..I prefer Moon Bloom by Hiram Green (excluding vintage Fracas). Tubereuse Criminelle is unsurpassed from a man's stand-point. Lipstick Rose is a funny scent: an interesting comparison will be with Incarnata by Anatole Lebreton. I got lucky and a friend brought samples of all Aphorysmes by Ropion: they are very good, a couple extremely good. Hope you get a chance to sample them. Cheers.
@@alexchog9383 yes, the opening for CF is definitely the best parts I was already recommended Moon Bloom and I’ll check that one out for sure. FM and Ropion work really well together 😜
Since I really don't like white flowers, so always be very picky about those fragrances. But,
Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle
Tubereuse Criminelle by Serge Lutens
Amalia by Fueguia 1833
Opardu by Puredistance
Melodie de L'Amour by Dusita
Moon Bloom by Hiram Green
They are the best white flower fragrances for me. Each of them definitely worth it.
@@jroy2640 thanks for the recommendations! I’ll check those out!
Favorite Malle’s are Iris Poudre and Une Fleur de Cassie. I own a 100ml of Lipstick Rose, but Tuberose is difficult for me when its dominant. great reviews
@@awanderingprince never tried those 2, FM are pretty much a guarantee for me so I’ll need to check those out.
Nice review 👌🏽
You've made me curious to try Meo Fusciuni - Encore du Temps. By the way, if you want to try a fragrance with one of the most realistic flower scents and challenging for some, you might be interested in trying a13 - Out in the Open by Miguel Matos if you haven't already.
@@pedrogoncalves1664 never tried that! Thanks for pointing it out 🙂
I love my bottle of Carnal Flower and Lipstick Rose is just fun b/c it does smell like make up. But what I do love that you mentioned is my new bottle of Iris Nazarena :)
@@Eloisescents0309 uuu glad you like that one!!! It’s one of my favorites.
Tableaux Parisiene from ORMAIE is such a beautiful beautiful tuberose tobacco fragrance ❤❤❤❤
@@legeanflorin my fav in that genre is Odor 93 by Meo Fusciuni
Ha ha I almost pulled the trigger on Odur 93 , I couldn’t decide I blind bought last season and Narcotico
But yeah odur 93 I swapped and change my cart a few times lol
I’ll be looking FWD to that review
@@seanp7871 Odor 93 is absolutely amazing and much easier to wear for a guy. It’s one of my favs, super potent as well!
@@SeldomlyOftendam sounds like I went the wrong way lol . Next purchase for sure 👍
Ta if by Ormonde Jayne is really light, airy interpretation of the rose. If you spray properly it gives you this nice fluffy feeling. If you overspray it becomes more like a Lyric Man.
@@igorkokozov4862 thanks, I already love the rose note in Nawab Of Oudh Intensivo, I might check that out.
If you're looking for photorealistic florals, clandestine ashes is the absolute gold standard for me. It's legit DAMP
@@rherbm thanks so much for the comment and recommendation 🙂
Lipstick rose to me is all about these candy like violets as it is about rose. The violets heavily remind me of these sweets we would have in childhood called Palma violets🍬
I agree there is a definite candy-like vibe to this. That is what makes it so fun :)
I have a discovery kit coming from FM. Feels like there is a hole in my fragrance brain from never trying this brand lol
@@EndersFPS hey man, I totally get being somewhat put off by the slight snobbiness of the brand but the frags are TOTALLY worth trying
Oh I have another scent that I would love for you to review. It’s Oud Galore by Chris Collins. I have already asked if you can review Hypnotizing Fire by The Harmonist, but Oud Galore as well. And I won’t ask no more.
@@HarrietThugman I’ll try to get a sample of that but CC is not available here at all. I need to be lucky.
If you like the opening of carnal flower, I would really like to see your reaction to Fathom V by Beaufort London. Similiar realistic freshly cut lilys/flower shop vibe, but more male. My current obsession :)
That is definitely the next Beaufort I'll be getting! Love the house :)
I really love en Passant from FM
@@Irinikarambatsou1 I also have a sample of that lined up to get a first impression of!
I like me some floral fragrances man
@@Ismelledathing I don’t anyone really dislikes them, the difficulties I see are more about pulling it off
I had a carnal flower but then sold it away. Carnal opening is really beautiful but then after that i became quite musky and slightly pissy (not in a bad way, just that I feel it is not as charming)
@@siwatsummashipvitsavakul7434 well, the opening is epic, to me true dry down was still good but more “normal”. Thanks for the comment 😊
The correct answer when it comes to Frederic Malle is never either/or, it’s always both. 😂
@@cheapimitation2242 I support this answer 😎
Can you do parfums de marly haltane ?
@@mahirdaiyan8780 it’s in my list, I was supposed to get a bottle but it didn’t pan out. I’ll get at least a sample though 🙂
@@SeldomlyOften yes I am kinda 50 50 about it can't decide
@ I’ll do that one soon 🙂
@ tried Oud for Greatness? Apparently it’s similar
@@SeldomlyOften yeah but it's kind of rough yk kind of plastic to me it's great but not smooth yk it's comes off rough to me
Someone has to make a joke about you going too far with that introduction 🤣 joking, I think a perfume should be worn by anyone who enjoys them 👍
@@жизненный_опыт it was just a tease, I wrap it up at the end 😉
Your introduction took waaay too long. I had to click off.
Ok man, thanks for taking the time you did and for commenting. I do long format stuff, not 1 min TikTok videos.
