👍👍👍 Good post. I've taken to 'mix and matching' my various pots and bowls .. sometimes specifically 'for that day only' applications, and with good results. I just love it when pots 'stack' 😊. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..
There’s a lot of pleasure in putting together and using different sizes of “Perfect” cook systems. I have several and they all came, like yours, through trial and error. I think my favorite is the smallest one-man / just for me kit because I carry it around in my daypack and use it more than anything else.
I like to browse around the thrift stores with an eye for small pots and pans, especially if they have folding handles. Sometimes I find complete or nearly complete sets too. I have gathered quite the collection of nesting cook sets and can easily mix and match depending on my travel plans. Tuesdays are senior discount day and I can save even more $$.
👍 .. I'm a committed 'browser' .. hardware stores / home depots too. Sometimes one sees something .. something that one was not specifically looking for .. but it triggers the thought, "Now there is something that I can use" .. and not within it's original design intent.
Hi Blackie! Great how you mix up all these different pots and pans to get the perfect for you. Thanks for your recommendations to find the right one. All the best from Austria 🇦🇹🤠👍🏕️🔥
I've purchased 3 different Stanley sets and a few different boy scout style sets along with thrift store finds to build combo cook sets. But when walking out about close to home, I use multi tin cans as a one person set.
Great tips, Blackie. I have the 2 Qt. Pathfinder bushpot and also I do have one of those older Peak 1 cooksets. I have the smaller one for 1 person. I'll have to dig that out and see what I can utilize. Thanks!👍
Good one! Hey, i just got not too long ago, a Peak 1 Vintage Ruck, i had never heard of it, but seems when Coleman was ultra high quality or something. This thing is made of a heavy canvas type cordura like material, big zippers high quality, really smart compartments, and it has a flexible frame. Very odd but really smart. it lets you bend and flex, but still has upward structural strength. i imagine it helps when climbing and navigating tight turns. A guy made a video on it, i found here on YT. i can't find anything else on it, but it's green, and huge. very cool the Apex 1 stuff. seems to be for serious mountainering! but maybe discontinued. i think this thing is already 20 yrs old and will last forever. it's a shame they don't make em like this anymore unless you pay an arm and a leg! i believe i made a video on it a while back. i wonder where all the Apex 1 stuff ended up. So much cool gear has been lost to time and profit.
Lol, my bushpot found its way on the stove the other day because our kitchen pots for that particular job were in the wash and we forgot when we picked out dinner😂😂
Took me forever to put togather a cookset that meets my needs. And i have a great size kit now... that will do most what i need. But its still missing a bushpot with a bail. I can not hang any of my cookset over a fire. It irritates me sometimes. Haha. Often i have to spend a lit of time making the fire JUST right to cook on, because i either have to set the pot in the fire. Or set a small cook grate on it...would definafly save time....sometimes.. if i had a good hanging pot. :/ but finding one that nests with my current set is not easy.
it ill be 50 years this spring i emigrated to Florida, i have yet to see an Indian with a machete. they follow the game trails not chop their way thru the Everglades. If you have to use a chopping tool in the wild, Look up, never know what is about drop on your head.
D'oh, not "... pans your to worried about.." is should read "...pans you are (or you're") too worried about. Yes. it makes a difference. When spoken you're and your sound the same, however when written your and you're have completely different meanings and usages. Notice, when writing your that which follows belongs to the person you are writing to. Also, there is a difference between to and too, they are not related as well. English is a strange language.
Depends on what you are doing. Love having Dutch ovens with me out in the woods. Also depends on how many people you Re cooking for, as a father taking the family out having multiple pots helps shorten cook time
stay warm this weekend with the coming artic cold snap .

Brother that coffee cup is too small and I will keep using my World War 2 L-handle canteen cup my friend and my coffee pot my friend
Way to much crap if you can't get by with two pans your to worried about your stuff than you are about getting the job done
