    I've been using the Stanley pot that is modified with a bale on the actual pot and a key ring on the lid instead of the factory plastic tab. Then I bought the cheap stainless steel Camp cup from Walmart and the stanley pot nests perfectly. The lid from the stanley also fits the cheap Walmart camp cup and it has been serving me well for years at a cheap price.

    Love your channels! But I think you'll find the Stanley cup works much better if you mount the handle the other way around and leave it there. It locks open against the cup to support a heavy weight. And when it locks closed, it flips over the top keeping the top and nesting cups inside. This way it is very low profile and you never have to remove it. Also keeps you from loosing the lid. :-)

    The Nalgene Backpacker model with its tapered bottom DOES nests perfectly inside the Stanley Pot.

    I started back in the middle 50's with cast Iron cookware , then over to Stainless Steel. Next step was to Titanium since most meals are boil water and add it . it's the titanium I like. Two distinct advantages , Light weight and after use it cools faster then anything else I have used. They come in all sizes and today even at a reduced price compared to several years ago.

      There's no bad pots , pans or cook wear for camping and the choices a person can make are great. You will never get me to give up my Cast iron or even the stainless items , they have been on to many trips with me and are semi retired to the cooking duties here at the house. Packing them away would be like ignoring a life long friend.

    Hi Andy, I’ve never really ‘got’ the Stanley stuff. I know some people love it but it’s never appealed to me. I have a TBS branded stainless cup & bottle that nests in it. I think they’re just copies of the Pathfinder. I love ‘em! Either drink straight out of the cup or I pour into one of those fold out sea to summit mugs.
    Good review mate! Your camping history described in cups! 😀

      I had the Pathfinder mug, but the handles were completely rubbish and the lid fitted to tight, so I sold it. I replaced it last year with the TBS one, which is, in my opinion, superior: stronger steel, better handles, and the lid fits comfortably, not super tight.

    • @hikingwithrosy
      @hikingwithrosy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @stalwart263
    @stalwart263 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good video. 👍 My thoughts on bail handles on small mugs is that they are pretty useless. A small mug with a small base size will heat much quicker if put IN the fire, not hung above it because the base size is small. I have the pathfinder and a fish mouth spreader but hardly ever use the spreader.

    Question, Andy. Why do you not prefer titanium unless you're doing a long hike? I would think that the weight savings would be beneficial no matter the loadout. Is it mostly due to cost? I have just started putting together a kit and was going to go with stainless for cost savings but the more I think about it I'm leaning towards the lightweight titanium bits for the weight savings. I think it would be neat to compare the total weight differences between a total titanium loadout and a stainless steel loadout using the exact same types of gear. I figure if anybody has a collection of gear sufficient to make that happen it'd likely be you and possibly enlist Simon for a little collaboration, get a few different opinions, etc.

    • @kentsurvivalgearreview586
      @kentsurvivalgearreview586  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Shane. Titanium is not very pleasant to drink from due to how it conducts heat (I need to use the hot lips with mine) and because of the same properties the hot drink will lose that heat very quickly.

    Olicamp makes a 750 ml in anodised aluminum
    very light and very robust
    Very long butterfly handles do not get hot when on the stove
    the weight saving for titanium vs the cost, makes the Olicamp an excellent choice

    Testimony of Jeremy Thomas Robbins:
    When I was a young man I enjoyed what most young party going men liked, such as girls, beer and drugs. I would have sex with any girl, any time and anywhere. For so long I am not sure how many I have been with at this point. I had little to no morals nor cares about anything really. The only thing I held onto was my word as I was taught when I was a child, that a man is measured by his word and to keep your promises. So, IF I said I was going to do something, I did it no matter the cost. That being said, one night I awoke from my sleep. Sat up in my bed and vocally promised myself I was going to read the bible. Not sure why, to this day I still have no understanding as to why I made this my word. So I sobered up and started to read..... and read and read more. Turns out the bible is a rather large book and it was taking me some time to do it. But I gave my word and I kept on reading it and as I read it the words where convicting my soul. I could feel something in my heart start to turn and became uneasy. Then one night, when I was asleep. I awoke to a presence in the hall at the end of my bed. I could see something was there but I was not able to see what it was. Then I heard a disgusting noise coming from it and I told it.
    You're disgusting!!
    Then out of the silence, out of the darkness I heard.
    YOU ARE TO
    And it grabbed me.
    Then I awoke not knowing I was in a dream as the entire dream was where I was and how I was. "Never had a dream like this before and never had another like it again."
    The crazy part.... I still felt right where "IT" grabbed me, as if the tightness of its grip was still on me.
    To say the least I have seen something that is not normal nor good. There are evil things in this world we can not explain nor understand but I know as true as the air in my lungs.
    Spirits are real and so is God.
    This is my testimony.
