Very nice video I live in Miami Florida on a Catalina 30 1992 it's a great boat in the summer I had to the Bahamas and I'm very happy with my Catalina 30
My friend showed me your channel and said I'd find the boat very familiar! We're the original owners of a 1984 C-30 MK1, very similar to yours, and spend many "4-day weekends" living on it during the summer and fall on the Hudson River in New York. Most of our sailing these days consists of "day sailing" from a marina. We used to take long cruises with two kids and 4 folding bikes aboard! Some of the best improvements I've made is to install a 12,000 Btu water-cooled AC with heat and to add dockside water. I mounted a Jabsco pressure regulator through the cockpit wall, into the aft end of the deep locker. My water heater is in this locker. You only have to run a hose from the back of the regulator and "T" it into the cold water hose that goes from your pump into the water heater and install a check valve just downstream of your water pump. This was a game changer for living aboard! You can use the sinks all you want, drink the water, and take long showers without using any of your tank water and running the pump! I use a quick connect and shut-off where the dock hose enters the regulator and NEVER leave it on when not on the boat! I Love your insulation idea for the V-birth and will probably copy it! Thank you! That will make it so much easier to cool the V-area in the summer and keep it warm in the fall! I 'm still in love with the C-30 after all these years and I'm sure you will too. It has more room than any 30 foot sailboat on the water and will outsail them too! Enjoy your home on the water!
It's been two years now. Hopefully you're doing what you like with yourself at this point. Although, I must say that the day will come when you wish the years would go by a little slower...
Thank you for showing tour on the boat , very was interesting seeing .Books very sailing to read 📚, more inspiring to sail ⛵️ Everything nice great episode filming, many thanks
Great tour, for the sound system I've found that purchasing a good quality portable and waterproof speaker is the best for living aboard. That way no wires to chase and you can bring your music to the beach. I have the JBL boombox onboard my boat and its one of the best things for livaboard life .
Hey Sitka!! Nice to hear from some local sailors!! That is a great idea about something portable and waterproof....hope you are enjoying the warmer springtime weather!
great tour some day in the future you might own a house or a larger boat and i suspect you will look back longingly of days of simplicity and happiness. it is a beautiful home
Great to see the full interior. We've lived aboard for almost 3 years and this week we actually bought some foam interlocking mats for the v berth to prevent condensation where the mattress touches the wall. Always damp there but not anymore!!! Great idea
Thick cork is safer and if you have a steel its an ideal pairing glued to it as it stops it from rusting inside out ....its also natural and litteraly grows on trees. 😁
Thanks for the tour. Looks like you two have a nice home on the water. Good tips for keeping her dry and moving the air about. Stay warm, safe and healthy. Cheers 👍🇺🇸😎...
This summer you need to clean the water tanks. There should be a removable cutout to do so. No matter what you use the tank water for, you need to be able to trust it. When you get them clean, add a capful of bleach to each tank. I noticed the wood inside needs a little something. Varnish would be perfect, but I would recommend Liquid Gold, which is an oil which is none greasy. Keep putting it on as long as the wood will take it. Very good product for keeping the wood from drying out in the winter. If you don’t like it I will reimburse you for the cost. Tommy
Great tour. You're pretty organized. My marina has bathrooms with showers so I also don't use my head on board. I use it as a locker and a place to store my guitar.
Good tour! A very comfortable home. You have done well to solve the moisture/dampness problems. I too live in the PNW and moisture is a way of life up here! The projects and maintenance never ends!
A very good video, I like how you didn't rush your narration or swing your camera rapidly from side to side to show us the interior. Have you thought about a small under counter water purifier, with a separate tap/faucet for drinking water? You still remain my premier sailing channel, I watch all of your content on both means, some more than once lol. Take care, be safe and have a joyus summer sailing.
You can buy fire proof rope seal by the foot or yard to seal your solid fuel stove as well as fire sealing silicon for sealing the flue. One of the days flush your tanks with a dilute cleaning solution like home brewers use depending on the tank materials ... flush it out and then fit a simple particulates filter downstream of the tank outlet.. Water kept cool and dark stays fresher longer.. V silly idea really selling it in clear bottles in terms of shelf life. 😉
Very good video to you both. Home is wherever you make it. So best of luck to you guys. I use Damp Rid to keep things dry Moisture free. You can get them at Department stores And there cheap some of them you hang in closet and under sinks whatever Ect. Keep going forward. 😎😇😇
Awesome guys!! I had a 320 and it was an awesome boat for a couple. You have a bigger challenge considering your climate but you have managed brilliantly.
Hi guys, I see your videos improving all the time. The Catalina 30 is a proven boat, I think they have crossed every ocean. I have the Catalina 36 and it is very comfortable for two. You know, just a bit bigger, and all we have found we need. Your doing a great job, keep it up!
Catilina 30 is fs not a blue water boat most call them dock queens w that being said I love them perfect for coasting cruising and u can’t beat the width
Watched this with my preschooler and now she's obsessed with the idea of living on a boat, although I've warned her that the 18-footer is not nearly as salubrious!
Great to see you and Jonas have gotten your floating home really comfy and cosy. It's looking great! Mine is a mess and I need to organize things more, well done and thank you for sharing this with us. Bri, Top Hat 25'
I also want to offer a piece of advice. The wifi extender is located in the wrong location for good reception/transmission. The inverter and your other items in that area are extremely noisy electronically. You should get better reception with it if you can mount it as high and far away from other electronics/electrical items on your boat. Yes far is a relative term on a boat. :)
20:55 I fabricated the mattress platform in our ExpeditionVehicle of expanded metal, similar to stout window-screen. This allows plenty of ventilation under the mattress... a place with extreme potential to hold moisture, and grow great gobs of fungus.
Getcha a piece of wax and rub the guides on those pull out drawers it will be much better and will reduce wear, you'll like it. Nice boat I enjoyed your video 😊📸
Thank you for sharing! Was great fun to tour your boat with you 😀🙏 I van lifed at your marina last winter so it’s always great to catch up and feel there again through your videos 🥰
This was a great boat tour, I love that you have managed to solve so many challenges and you both look very happy and relaxed. Just think only 21 days until Spring ☀️☀️💐💐💐⛵️⛵️⛵️🥰
Hello Blue Moon Life, from the Northern Gulf of Mexico.🙋♂️ I liked the walk through. Well done. 1st time viewer. I haven't had time to view any of your other videos yet but I will eventually. I'd like to call you by name but there's no introduction in the video or description.🤷🏻♂️ Looking forward to watching you evolve.
My boat is also named Blue Moon! She is about the same size as yours, she's a Seafarer 29' built in 1976. I do not live aboard her though. I have owned her for 4 years. We have several Catalina 30s in our marina which is on a land-locked lake in Oklahoma, USA. Very pretty namesake!
Great video, remembering what it was like from our circumnavigation in the 1980s, presently cruising the Bahamas. My wife's book is a good read, published by Austin Macauley of New York, literally a fictional story of sailing and adventure: "Seychelle and the Cannabis Yachties". It is very entertaining, hoping you will give it a read.
You can have your water tested in your water tank...down in the Seattle area there is a company called Am test that will test your water for under 70 bucks. There has to be a similar company up in the Victoria Area...Best...SV Aquila...Seattle
Really like this vlog/tour approach, obviously done from direct first-hand experience. Thanks for that, as I'm looking for a 30' myself and would like to use it year round (not liveaboard, but damp and cold sucks whether it's just an overnight or a long-term stay). What insulation did you use for the V-berth, sides and under the bed mattress?
Great video ...super clean and well organised cabin. Spot on. Do you guys drink the water straight or do you have a filter system? I guess town water is far away from being rich on information and therefore not ideal for consumption...not even thinking of how much polluted the water may be too. Greetings Rob
For some reason I had lost your posts, and I could not recall for sure the name of your channel. I ran across a recent post where you took your tender out of cold storage (rocks as counter weights), pumped it up and sailed. I felt certain in the first ten or fifteen seconds it has the earmarks of your editing style but you both had changed enough over the months, and you sort of focused on your guest, so I was not certain. After an extensive search of my subscriptions on TH-cam I found an image that I recognized, Just to let you know, your videography is very distinctive and tasteful. Oh, and thanks for the tour. What is the boat, may ask that you (probably) repeat yourself? Now to look over your home page and see what I have missed, I think I heard a reference to a sabbatical with personal issues, I will follow up, Doh -= Catalina 30, I see it in a comment below (or above).
you guys are cool would you guys be open to meeting people from youtube land? I'm a long haul trucker and i think I want a sailboat someday. It would be great to go for a day sail sometime. I live in alberta and it's only a 12 hour drive for me to get to vancouver.

Great tour.
The reason boats have small but deep sinks is so you can get water depth without needing a lot of water.
ahh we have wondered about that, good to know!!
I’m sure your counting down the days to get out sailing again! 🌞 🌸 🌊
Yes we are!! We're seeing signs of Spring already and can't wait for another summer on the water :D

Everybody needs an important "junk drawer" in their lives. Really enjoyed the tour, also nice upgrades....
Nice 2 years can't go by fast enough oooof can't wait to be living mobily.
It really does!! Yes, so exciting! Hopefully you can get on that boat soon :D
@@BlueMoonLife gotta finish paying off the house first before I can move unfortunately.
@@niknack666 I still got 5 years to go and then I can finally get my boat lol

Superb video. Please share more. Thanks

During a trip through Alaska in our ExpeditionVehicle, the dehumidifier extracted a gallon/4-liters (litres) every 24-hours.
Insane!
Well considered, cozy and beloved tiny home!) It is feeled through the camera!)
Thank you for the tour! so many important lessons here. The biggest is that you both seem happy in your home. cheers
Wow...can't believe I'm FIRST...new to your channel but love yall!
Hey Christy! Thanks for being here!!
great tour some day in the future you might own a house or a larger boat and i suspect you will look back longingly of days of simplicity and happiness. it is a beautiful home
Thanks for the kind message, we sure hope so!

Also. The best snow shovel on the boat is the broom pan. Doesn't damage the deck and easy to maneuver in small spaces

Enjoyed your tour! Brings back a lot of memories, a lot of them good and a few NOT so good! Love you two, take care Claude.
Thanks a lot Claude, take care yourself :)
