As Toby drifted into slumber, he began to dream of what had brought him to Sodor. He remembered the “golden years” of his youth. He remembered his last days on his line in East Anglia, and how everyone was sad to see “oldies but goldies” like him and Henrietta go. He remembered meeting Sir Topham Hatt and his family for the first time, back when he only knew the Fat Controller as a stout gentleman. He remembered saying what he thought were his final goodbyes to his crew before he was shut in his shed. He remembered his elation upon learning that he and Henrietta had been purchased by the NWR. The journey across Britain to Sodor was a long, strenuous adventure, but Toby persevered through it all. He remembered meeting Thomas and Percy for the first time. He remembered the first time they slept in the Ffarquhar sheds together. … “What d’ya suppose has him all teary-eyed, Percy?” asked Thomas. “Maybe it’s just a happy memory, Thomas. Sometimes engines are so happy they can’t help but cry.” “That’s surprisingly wise of you, Percy.” Unbeknownst to Thomas, Toby smiled. He was the one who told Percy that, after all.
“but he hero I NEEDED. me. because otherwise the policeman was gonna guve me ugly things on my wheels. then i would be uglier than percy, which is saying something”
Even without Unlucky’s Tug incredible visual edit at the end of his last installment of Sodor’s Finest, you can perfectly visualize the hero’s journey here. Toby on his old line, it closing down, he’s shut in the shed…then a glimmer of hope, and new adventure, a legend begins…
I like how toby and edward are so similar yet so different, like I heard in the unlucky tugs video. Edward is the type who will mentor a misguided youngin before they get into trouble while scolding them when they mess up. While Toby is the type to smirk and nod, watch the youngin fail, laugh then show them how it's done. To put it simply, toby is a wise old grandpa that doesn't give a shit. Which is why he's one of my favorites next to edward.
He and Edward make up the duo of my most favorite characters in the whole franchise. Periodically from the origins of Wilbert Awdry's _Railway Series_ book stories to the TV show by Britt Allcroft in which she based it from.
Toby had arrived at Gordon's hill, Troublesome Trucks loaded with stone. He remembered the mean things Diesel said, and was about to give up. But he then thought about how the stone was for the school. With determination in his fire box, he refused to give up, he was not about to let Diesel be right. He kept thinking about what Diesel said, "You're an antique. You are too old to be useful". He powered through, Toby wasn't about to let down the children.
You have just made a amazing outstanding beautiful masterpiece from adding the actual Toby song in it makes it really feel like it’s Toby’s definite theme
To me, this represents an alternate version of Toby's story. Imagine the original story, except Toby is bought in secret by The Fat Controller, from his driver and fireman. The owner of the railway wants to cut Toby up and use him as firewood, so Toby and his driver and fireman have to make a daring escape. They go and get Henrietta and the last few trucks on the line (who don't want to be left behind either) and they rush down the line. Up ahead, the tracks are being pulled up by workmen. Toby rings his bell and rushes over the tracks just before they're taken up, as the workmen shout. At last, he makes it to the North Western Railway, and is safe from a horrible fate.
omg this is amazing i feel this is what would play if Toby served in WWII or something- just imagine him evacuating children during the blitz, or moving supplies to the front through stuka fire

Toby is a wise, hard-working little brown 0-6-0 steam tram engine. He used to run the Aresdale branchline, but now runs part of Ffarquarr branchline leading to the Ffarquarr stone quarry. He often works with his faithful tram coach, Henrietta. He is very good at managing the trucks. He may be old-fashioned, but don't underestimate him. He is still a Really Useful Engine, who has plenty of puff left in him. He is the Island of Sodor's number 7 engine.
This triumphant, successful symphony orchestra theme here is just simply _AMAZING!!_ 💯💯💯💯 Toby is absolutely, positively, without any hint of doubt in the world, an honest and for truly Sodor's Finest, even when at times his character never craves the spotlight.
Maybe a unpopular option but this is my favorite theme from the original show. Toby is definitely my favorite character, and you definitely did him justice. Oldeys but goldys indeed. We definitely still care about you.
I love this old shed on wheels Toby is one of my favourite characters even named an old hamster after him when I was little but his theme is in my top 3 behind the Flying Kipper and James’s theme
Toby is a tram engine. He has cowcatchers and side plates and doesn't look like a steam engine at all. He takes freight cars from farms and villages to the main line and is cheerful to everyone he meets. He had a coach called Henrietta who has seen better days. "It's not fair at all" she grumbles remembering that she used to be full and 9 cars would rattle behind her.
