I'm a 64 year old Master Plumber Pipe Fitter and Foreman specialised in heavy construction used to being in charge of 12 to 24 roughneCk workers and every time I hear her sing my soul stirs and I tear up with spiritual emotions. No one does her justice. Such things as of heaven are made. See her there.
hello pipefitter!!! Eva Cassidy...First time I heard her was in a club outside of Philadelphia Pa. Didn't know who or what she sounded like, but when she opened her mouth you could hear a pin drop inside the club. She had a way of making you dream when she performed, like you went to another dimension in time and space. During her break I went to talk with her. She was very pleasant yet shy in a sorts. Me, being a performer I totally found my idol. She sang what she wanted to sing and nobody was going to change that! Much like myself, if I don't feel the song, I'm not going to sing it. So I followed her when I wasn't performing myself. She even came out to hear me and my band when she was not working. As time went on, I moved from the Pennsylvania area and went on to do my thing and lost track of Eva, even though I would hear she was still doing the drudges of small clubs. I went home to visit family and heard she was going to be in the DC area so I went. It was like two old friends meeting up once again and I made certain to buy her CD's. I played them and still do from time to time. After a few years I heard from a sound man I used to work with that Eva had cancer, but nobody seemed to know how serious the cancer was. Then I got the call she had died and I was crushed. Here was a talent that should have been known throughout the world while she was alive! Thank God for her many CD's and videos for others to know her. Sad thing is, they didn't know the sweet person she was, but she left behind the best thing Eva had...her voice and music. Thank you Eva for blessing this world with the best voice of all times...just a shame that you never had the chance to truly know how much the people and musicians truly loved and respected you. RIP...
I saw Eva a number of times, and several things stood out about her performances. First, she was a musician. Just listen to her guitar. She was a wonderful arranger. She put her signature on the songs she did, made them her own, so to speak. Eva was not going to be put in a box. Her gigs went from pop to folk to soul to blues to my favorite, Jazz. She had a great feel for Jazz. And she had this way about her that touched everyone in the audience. I really did feel like she was singing just to me. Not too many artists had/have this quality -- my old favorite, Steve Goodman, sang just to me, too. But Eva was right here in town and I got to see her and know her music intimately. She touched my heart, and it remains touched to this day.
what an honour to have seen her live, and its not the first time I've heard people, musicians say some of the guitar arrangements in themselves are not easy, yet to be able to play like that and sing like that over them is really some feat.....Eva represents all thats good and true in this world....
I KNOW SHE DID ALL TYPES OF MUSIC AND I LOVE WILLIE NELSONS SONG "BLUE EYES CRYING IN THE RAIN" DID SHE EVER DO OTHER COUNTRY SONGS THAT WERE RECORDED? ANYONE KNOW THIS
I agree, Mikki. I'm another DC guy, and she was a perfect fit for jazz, but she only wanted to do jazz when it struck her. I'll take what we got any day of the week. What a perfect voice, but with a huge assist from her phrasings and that great acustic guitar talent.
@@lesgrice4419, she was self-taught on guitar which makes her greatness even more remarkable. She understood jazz thoroughly. And, as with many of the great jazz singers, she sang other genres with a jazz accent.
Just a case in point that not all great singers rise to fame by there alive. She surely should’ve. I saw her autobiography on PBS I think years ago and they said she was just impossible to peg. Nobody could see her brilliance because she refused to be put in a box I say she was a blue singer or she was a pop singer or she was this or she was a jazz singer. Just wasn’t fair that people who wanted to sign or could not see her brilliant and her magnificent voice. I think it was cancer that took her life
Her version of Over the Rainbow is completely breathtaking and absolutely my all-time favorite rendition of this song. But that's true for just about every single song she performed. A tragic loss but such a treasured legacy of music.
That was the first song that I remember hearing her sing on the radio. It was my late mother's favorite song, so it meant so very much to me. I never heard who was singing it when it played on the radio. I mentioned to a friend how much I loved her rendition of it. That's when I found out her name and that she had already passed away. I was so depressed to have found that out about her. She's up there with the angels singing now. ❤❤❤
I grew up with her in Bowie. They described her perfectly, very unpretentious. She was a bit shy but kind to everyone. We were just kids in a small town and she never let her incredible talent make her any different than who she really was. It may sound strange but her post life fame is probably what she would have preferred. She didn’t really feel comfortable in the spotlight and fame wasn’t something she would seek. I’m now 60 and to this day I can say the two most perfect voices I’ve ever heard were Karen Carpenter and Eva. Both gone too soon with so many more songs they could have sung.
Most beautifully spoken. Thank you for that wonderful connection to my favorite "Songbird." "Rainy Days and Mondays" is my favorite Karen Carpenter tune, and, in my opinion, yet another woman with a phenomenal voice.
Thanks for sharing. I am a singer and a bit shy, and I feel like Eva and I could have really hit it off. I feel connected to her, although I didn't get the privilege to meet her. I feel like Eva and I had a lot in common. She inspires me.
You were blessed to have known her. I fully concur with your assessment of Eva not seeking the glitz and glamour of success. She just wanted to sing, what Eva wanted to sing. Dumb US music labels really missed out!!
I was blown away as I was drinking in every note, inferences, pitch, upper registries, precious falsetto coming through my headphones straight to the center of my soul. I was searching ITunes for my library when I stumbled, thank God, into her world. Listening her to this day!
I have her Songbird but hearing those opening notes on Autumn Leaves, a few minutes ago just choked me up and couldn't stop the tears so I know what you mean, Wes.
It’s early December, 2018 and I just discovered Eva two days ago. Completely by accident. The past forty eight hours and a minute have been spent learning all I can about her and listening ... just listening. I have always been blessed. We all have. Some of us know it. Finding Eva (for all of us who have) just confirms it. Oh, what a wonderful world.
Very personal and " behind the scenes" documentary. I would like to add that her guitar playing to me is as admirable as her singing yet nobody mentions that. Although she did not use complicated jazz chords or rhythm, her playing supports the color of her singin. She added the right notes/chord voicings (on the guitar) at the right spot to give it that "emotional, moving" touch. Tasteful playing and singing. And her band menbers at the Blues Alley concert supported her perfectly with subtle, hardly noticable, almost shy additions of their instruments.A perfect performance. What a talent.
Eva's timing and pauses in a song interpretation, with juxtaposing, pauses and making it her own, is incredible, it goes to a place not many can go in a song-makes most singers look lazy, the way she 'paints her canvas' during the performance-she works it, and molds it, almost like to another dimension....if you don't feel her song, you're most likely dead inside, impossible to not feel this artistry
Bingo. You must be a singer yourself to understand her capabilities. Sinatra could get close, after 10 takes in a studio with Nelson Riddle. She did it live. On stage. No breaks. Words fail.
I was there in DC the Night she played Blues Ally, a very cold January Night ( The beginning note Blues Ally, Georgtown, MD is wrong, Blues Ally is at the end of Wisconsin Ave next to the Potomac River in WASHINGTON DC) ~ I remember the day I met Eva, at a Grateful Dead Show on the parking lot of Capital Center in the late 80's. She was leaning on the car in the next parking space, and her and her friends intermingled with our car load of hippies. She was very shy, and I had to drag her thoughts out, which is so ironic, because when she started to sing she reverted from the Introverted beautiful quiet soul to the strong radiating beautiful voice that could move boulders. I remember the day she died and was left with a deep hollow feeling in my heart for such a long time. Life isn't always the Fairy Tale we grew up believing, but with Eva, Being a true Angel, her Wings continue to Flutter in our Hearts and Souls for all eternity. 25 years later, and I still feel that deep sadness that she is no longer here. Some Souls are to precious to ever die. RIP Eva, I miss you so much and you are still alive in the deep recesses of my Heart and Soul.......
I’m lucky enough to have heard Eva up close and personal at Middletons Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland, USA. Very small stage. A fundraiser for her diagnosis. In person. My tears flowered freely.
so bittersweet - i'm not into metaphysics but it feels like she was just sent here to teach us life lessons. Such an authentic person who's vision of her music won out against the odds.
"She sounds like she's singing just to you, and that is what makes it so intimate. And that becomes even more profound once you know she's no longer alive, because it's haunting, and it's personal." My Eva Cassidy experience - always, and in a nutshell.
Wow. I just came across that section of the doc and it literally just sat with me for a while as I continued to watch. Thanks for pointing this out as well. It's the absolute truth and such a to the point way of describing the effect Eva has on your soul when you hear the intimacy and beauty of hers.
This is when music describe a living, and a life, too short, a emotive life. I perceice particularly musical deeply romantic all this... Yes... i'm pretentious in music, because also for me it has been all my life, at first as be in backsound while i lived, and then, at last, telling and describing it in my own musica. May be i'm greater musical Poet in anthology.. i believe it, but not for myself glory and remenbrance, but for what i had sensibility to write on sentimental way ! The dreams can't be escovered, otherwise they vanish: at same you can't define the deeply of sentiments, otherwise they disappear, and even not to know the intensity of thought, otherwise it fade... Yes.. this is my principle od "indetermination" that here i STATED ! At the same you can't put a Poet in a spotlight, otherwise he drope, anything decays by be in poem ! A short poetical life of an artist let imaginate over any other substantial circumstance of the realty, in a world done of pure poems, where the life has not to waste and wearout the itself poem of the life ! Time can't not waste the music... Music it itself out by time ! What you write in music is timeless... forever. What he meant write is timeless... My song, may be the best more representative write in music was written by me, just :Past Time" (it is the once history of the time correlated to the human sentiments over the life, as it is designed written by the ancestral genesis !!! FOR ALL THIS I FEEL SO CLOSE TO ME THE MEMORY OF EVA ! She performed a great historical page of the music of the indelible human sentiments !
I was one of lovely Terry Wogan's listeners at the time he played Eva on his show. Thanks to Terry me and many others in the UK got to know about Eva and her beautiful voice. The way I would describe Eva's is that she was like a rare, beautiful bird that you only get to glimpse briefly before it flies away. You may never see it again but you dont ever forget it.
Pure quality music, thank you for recording her music for us. She has kept me company for years. She is the calm, the light & the healing when, I just want to find solace, in a high tempo schedule and long drives. Bless her 🦋🌏❤🌎🙏🌍🕊
Eva Cassidys voice is the closest you can come to heaven . Her singing is effortless , like breathing . No filter , so pure . Her records are classics who’ll last forever !!
I just discovered Eva a week or two ago when I heard "Over the Rainbow". I was floored by how beautiful and authentic it was and have been telling everyone I know about her. I think I've listened to all of her recordings by now. I think it's so great that she is continuously being discovered by new listeners!
Here we are three years later (late 2022) and I have just "discovered" her. The record labels that tried to cram her into a box should have been more open-minded and accepted (and recorded) what Eva did.
One of the greatest voices ever in music. The record company's will back up these horrible sounding singers that are out here today, but overlooked this true talent.
Millions know her now. Maybe the greatest pervayor of quality, emotion and love of music in addition to being a wonderful musician who understands how to intermingle lead and back up styles
You're so right. Although there is right now a very young artist with also an stunning voice and feeling and timing. She is called Angelina Jordan. Check her out.
It's insane to think that someone can sing live as PERFECTLY as she could!!! And with such passion as she did!!! It's truly a crime that she left this world WAY too early!!! She's making heaven sound a whole lot better!!!
Here we are in 2024 and listening to this sounds like everyone wanted a bit of the action, but i havevto say, they all got left behind by the lady with the voice Eva. There are few songs that i think she could not have changed and made popular with her ability to change to something totally different, a trick i have never heard anyone do so succesfully, and i think it all came down to that voice and her understanding about what each song is really about. I can listen to her all day and know theres not a minute that wont surprise me.
I did a radio show in Northern California and Blix Street Records used to send me her music which I played regularly. It only took one listen to recognize a very special and unique talent, sweet and pure. Every song became her very own, as if written for only her to sing. It all seemed so pure, effortless and heartfelt. She was a natural. I think truly one of the great singers. A songbird!
Further into the video I have a couple more comments. After her final Olympic performance Michelle Kwan skated to Eva's "Fields of Gold" in the post-competition exhibition. Four years later, KImmie Meissner skated to Eva's "Over the Rainbow" after she won the 2006 World Championship. Finally, when Eva was close to death, there was a tribute concert for her at Blues Alley. She sang one song -- "What a Wonderful World".
It's amazing to me that selling Eva was SO difficult. I'm no music executive but you have to have a tin ear if you can't hear the amazing quality in her voice. I think we may have a BIG problem in the music industry when generational talent like Eva Cassidy goes undiscovered.
A huge aspect of it was that Eva was a musician before the internet, so it was far harder to get recognition than it is today. Also, a lot of it, I think, was about Eva not being alive to sing it for you. Remember, she was only 33 when cancer took her life. The big tragedy is that if she was only alive for a few more years, she likely would've been able to see the huge success story that her music would've later become.
Being a musician myself and knowing several excellent performing musicians, I get disgusted hearing the same music over and over on the radio stations. Too much red tape.
The music industry's problem is , is that everything has to be labeled and pigeonholed in to a specific genre and Eva was not having any of that ,smart lady she never sold herself out.
I’m 70 years old, and Eva has been my favorite female singer since the first time I heard her, 20+ years ago. Field of Dreams made me shiver, Danny Boy made me weep. There are so many memorable covers, from songs that are so diverse, it’s simply incredible. It is October as I type, and Autumn Leaves comes back every year.
I got on here to jot a note about Danny Boy as it is rarely mentioned in discussion about Eva's songs. When she hits those high notes so clear and sweet it's so unbelievably beautiful.
I know someone up there loves me when another Eva Cassidy video pops up at just the right time!! I am so grateful to accidentally learn about Eva before I left this earth!! There is something special about not knowing every great artist from the past! And as you go along in life you are introduced by chance! It’s like finding treasures at the bottom of the sea!! When music is generally going in the wrong direction these days and artists from days gone by, magically appear to make up for it!! Hallelujah! God bless all the Eva Cassidy’s of the world! 💗🎶
It has been 2 years since I discovered her .I know all her songs by heart..I mean ,she makes every hers, she owns them..So melancholy and mellifluous...Rest in peace ,lady..
Her voice stirs emotions that others just can’t. Every time (every single time) I hear (I mean stop and listen) to her version of Over The Rainbow 🌈 I cry. It is so heart wrenching. You can feel the physical pain.
The caress of each note, the soul that she gave the who arrangement is frankly beyond beautiful. When I first heard her sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow, I had tears running down my cheeks. Absolutely fabulous. Gone far too soon.
Discovered Eva a few years ago and what an absolute pleasure. Terry W (RIP) needs to be thanked for continually bringing her voice to our attention in the UK on Radio 2.
I’m 80 years old & discovered Eva Cassidy’s music 3 years ago. I love all her songs - many of which are not her originals. Many singers (musicians) had performed these songs she sang. But her voice, her emotion & her interpretation of a song are something unique & special. The song “Over The Rainbow”, performed by Judy Garland doesn’t have the same emotional feeling as that by Eva Cassidy. Similarly the song “Autumn Leaves” had been sung by many singers/crooners (including Nat King Cole) lacked the emotion & interpretation of the lyrics & music as that done by Eva. Everytime I listen to Autumn Leaves by Eva Cassidy, I weep. This song is about missing a loved one. God bless Eva - may she RIP. She will be sadly missed by all music lovers
What an awesome cool voice she had. It's the kind that doesn't pierce your eardrum when the notes go high. I'm blessed to have listened to her beautiful songs. Thanks to Terry Wogan👍 thanks to those who made this vlog. X
I found Eva by accident today when I stumbled across her version of "Fields of Gold" which totally took my breath away. I've been digging more and more into her work all afternoon. What a perfectly pure voice. She takes each song she sings and makes it totally her own and, in my opinion, improves on the originals. I'm looking forward to exploring more and more over the next little while.
Funny you say that, I found out about Eva through a Norwegian game-show!!! One of the singers there sang "Fields of Gold" (Sting's version), and Eva's version was in the "suggestions" bar... I listened to it, and boom, here we are...
PhilipTheBigOne It's funny how we all hit here by different means. I first heard of Eva thru Fifthy Shades Of Grey. The book didn't mentioned a song in particular, but "It doesn't matter anymore" cought my attn, I clicked on it and I just felt in love with her angelical voice. Like you I kept listening to her the rest of the night and ever since then I listen to her very often.
I've been listening to everything of hers for the last 2 hours. First time hearing her lovely voice. In tears reading this young lady has passed. (I came upon her while searching for gardening in zone 7.)
I found her a couple of days ago. Reading an article about why music can make us cry and the author said that Eva's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was what did it to him. I listened to it and was blown away. When I found out she had passed away I was, and still am so sad. I don't know if there's anything after this life but I strongly hope Eva can feel the love for her music and for herself.
Can you imagine how boring it was listening to those angels playing harps all the time and their feathers getting stuck in the stings and things. But these days are all gone now Eva has arrived, God fired the lot of them. Heaven is even getting popular, now Eva is the performing arts director:-)
Eva Cassidy, thank you for your eclectic style, for not being diluted by the record companies, for believing in yourself, and gifting us your beautiful pure angelic voice. The world loves you. Xx
Yes, the astonishing thing is the clarity and performance of the bar live recording. Eva’s an amazing beautiful singer, but the sound engineer did a great job that night also. Sorely missed. RIP Eva.
This young lady sang what she liked, because she could & sang it magnificiently she sang beautiful, a smooth mature voice & I loved her voice & songs. So whether she sold records or not she sang & that to her was more important than trying to sell her music - it was what mattered from her heart with her music. Soul singer & that voice is all that mattered in her short life. so thank you Eva & may your spirit live on forever, R.I.P. dear sweet song bird. Loved your version of SONGBIRD DELICIOUS EVA SOUNDS.
My brother had a weekly radio show that started around 1996 or 97 called The Eclectic Cafe' on the University of Central Missouri's radio station. He started playing Eva's music not long after that. I am so glad he introduced me to her music even before she was well known otherwise.
"If you can't respond to Eva Cassidy's voice then check your pulse"absolutely. She is the definition of what soul music is.When Mick Fleetwood said it was pretty simple for him, you'd have to be deaf to not know how great and rare Eva's voice was.Amazing to think that woman's song was covered by Eva Cassidy and how it managed to find its way to her, incredible story and what an ultimate honour to a song you're written.I think I'd be floating on air for the rest of my days if I was this woman.
Her talent & perfection are like that of nature ; not contrived or full of ego .. shining through like the sunshine …to warm us … like a bird released… songbird is such an ideal title for her album … An incredibly beautiful woman and her life was cut too short . R.I.P Sweet Eva ~ ❤thank you for all you gave to us .
I wish I could thank Eva for this absolutely beautiful music. It is beyond amazing. I would like to thank the people interviewed. They did a great job. I have no musical talents so I learned a lot from their observations. Thank you one and all. I enjoyed every note and every word. Carolyn Eagle (St. Louis, Missouri)
18 Yrs ago yesterday but seems like only yesterday, I am still totally amazed by the nmber of people who know nothing about Eva. I always say think of the greatest female singers you have ever listened to make a top 5. Now go and listen to Eva Cassidy and have your mind changed for ever. May your spirit live on forever
IM 72 AND HAVE HEARD ALL OF THE BEST FEMALE SINGERS THERE ARE IN ALL CATEGORIES AND I MEAN THEM ALL FROM POP TO COUNTRY AND IN BETWEEN...KAREN CARPENTER WAS ALWAYS THE BEST IN MY HEART FOR PURE VOICE AND TALENT UNTIL I HEARD EVA... SHE IS NOW THE BEST EVER MOVE OVER MY KAREN...
I just added my comment about Terry. We in the UK owe him big time as it was through him that me and many others got to hear and fall in love with Eva's beautiful voice. RIP Terry
Some years back, a friend gave me a copy of one of her CDs. I was immediately drawn into her music. I bought and listened to every Eva Cassidy CD that was available and have played them over and over and over again. I always feel that she is singing directly to me and that she somehow knows who I am and how I feel. She will always remain here with us through her music. How good is that?
This is a must watch for any listener or musician that loves music. I first heard Eva Cassidy singing ""Fields Of Gold" I was so taken back that on my way home I bought the CD. I told my Spouse I just heard an angel sing and after I played the CD he agreed. After the fact, I found out she had passed which made that statement so profound because I did hear an angel sing and my musical world listening and playing was truly changed after that. Rest in peace Eva Cassidy and thank you so much.
A story so moving. A heartbreaking success in her own way. She defied rules and was proved right. The most wonderful, passionate, coloured voice I've ever heard. Thank you so much for this tribute, brilliantly achieved.
She will always have a special place in my heart of music... Thank you for knowing how to play my heartstrings... I close my eyes many nights listening to you in the dark.. Eva, you still take my breath away... -Den

How can I give this one million likes? Eva’s music touched me to the core and stirred so many emotions. RIP songbird 🎶
When my wife sadly died, all I could listen to was the Eva Cassidy Song Bird album. It brought great comfort and memories to me.❤️

Great recollection. Thank you for sharing it. You were blessed to know her. Obviously, she felt the same about you, too.
Thanks,God bless, Amen.
wow what a story! You were both blessed to have met each other, thank you.
Thanks for that poetry-walking away with some real pearls of wisdom

"peace."
Wth is your mental malfunction?
Thank goodness someone was alert enough to record Eva for the rest of us.
Right. We capture so much junk thank god someone knew what they we're witnessing...
yes and for terry wogan for introducing us all to her. RIP SIR TERRY .THANKYOU.

"Rainy Days and Mondays" is my favorite Karen Carpenter tune, and, in my opinion, yet another woman with a phenomenal voice.
You were so lucky to have known her. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us all.
I was blown away as I was drinking in every note, inferences, pitch, upper registries, precious falsetto coming through my headphones straight to the center of my soul. I was searching ITunes for my library when I stumbled, thank God, into her world. Listening her to this day!
I first heard a recording of her 15 years ago. And even today, when I hear her again, tears come to my eyes. Every. Single. Time.
I have her Songbird but hearing those opening notes on Autumn Leaves, a few minutes ago just choked me up and couldn't stop the tears so I know what you mean, Wes.
I too, tear up every-time. She left us to early. I am quite confident she would have been a mega star. Her. Voice was truly angelic.
@@bobmcglone6676 Me too. I can't listen to her sing without tearing up.
She, Eva is opening your heart if you let her 🙏⚓️♥️
It's like hearing Aretha Franklin, isn't it??
I have just discovered Eva Cassidy. The emotions she stirs and the tears I shed when listening to her sing move me like nothing I can remember,
Eva's timing and pauses in a song interpretation, with juxtaposing, pauses and making it her own, is incredible, it goes to a place not many can go in a song-makes most singers look lazy, the way she 'paints her canvas' during the performance-she works it, and molds it, almost like to another dimension....if you don't feel her song, you're most likely dead inside, impossible to not feel this artistry
Bingo.
You must be a singer yourself to understand her capabilities.
Sinatra could get close, after 10 takes in a studio with Nelson Riddle.
She did it live.
On stage.
No breaks.
Words fail.
i always cry with her autumn leaves
Me too. 😢
Lovely, loving thoughts. Thank you.
I’m lucky enough to have heard Eva up close and personal at Middletons Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland, USA. Very small stage. A fundraiser for her diagnosis. In person. My tears flowered freely.
The 26 people who gave this music a thumbs down have no soul
Why can you come here and count who did what . Listen to this amazing music and story . Let go of what others are doing .🌞
I totally agree with you blinkyou1. My take is they have their own agenda. They cannot appreciate a true fanrastic amazing talent.
Stupid and deaf.
Dead inside is what they are
@@michaelmauerman8413 Certainly something missing somewhere. Have spent a lifetime trying to figure out what, but no dice.
so bittersweet - i'm not into metaphysics but it feels like she was just sent here to teach us life lessons. Such an authentic person who's vision of her music won out against the odds.
That was a really nice thing to say.
Eva Cassidy's voice is really timelees
leading to eternity.Long live Eva!
"She sounds like she's singing just to you, and that is what makes it so intimate. And that becomes even more profound once you know she's no longer alive, because it's haunting, and it's personal."
My Eva Cassidy experience - always, and in a nutshell.
ABSOLUTELY!
It’s incredible that more than one artist whose song she covered says that her version is the best.
Well stated!!! These dumb US music producers slept on her and boy did they regret it...Purest voice I've ever heard.
Pure quality music, thank you for recording her music for us.
She has kept me company for years. She is the calm, the light & the healing when, I just want to find solace, in a high tempo schedule and long drives.
Bless her 🦋🌏❤🌎🙏🌍🕊
I found Eva about 10 years ago and have been mesmerized ever since. She is a true heavenly pure voice. I wanted more.
INDEED! Keeping her legacy alive by sharing this gem!
I was given one of her cd's in 2011, and I love her more as time goes on. It's as though her voice keeps evolving and being relevant.
She knows how to listen and find the groove then fit right in.
Well... it sounds like a few of them knew she was awesome, but wanted to put her in a category, when she wanted variety and to do what touched her.
@@mosart7025 Yup, everything and everyone seems to have to have a label.
Thank you Eva, for your music.
She could pour an unbelievable amount of emotion into every note she sang. Just exquisitely beautiful. She was one of a kind.
I cannot listen to Eva's "Over The Rainbow" without getting misty eyed. Innovative vocal perfection.
Eva What A Beautiful Voice And A Beautiful Young Lady You Were My Sister Also Passed Away From Cancer In 2010 She Was 47 Love Too You Both❤️💔
Millions know her now. Maybe the greatest pervayor of quality, emotion and love of music in addition to being a wonderful musician who understands how to intermingle lead and back up styles
Eva was the singer that today's "divas" wish they were.
You're so right. Although there is right now a very young artist with also an stunning voice and feeling and timing. She is called Angelina Jordan. Check her out.
99.9999 percent of singers wish they had her pipes.
It's insane to think that someone can sing live as PERFECTLY as she could!!! And with such passion as she did!!!
It's truly a crime that she left this world WAY too early!!! She's making heaven sound a whole lot better!!!
💟💟💟💟💟👉🏿🇵🇱
Strangely enough hardly any mention of, how discretely brilliant a guitarist she was, and how perfect an accompaignment to the singing she delivered.
Her vocal out perform her Guitar and yes both brilliant
God bless Eva Cassidy, whose music and spirit have been great blessings to me since the first time I heard her.
I just discovered Eva. What a voice and what a story!
She one of a kind. I used to listen to her on a Celtic radio program. She was the song. I'd hang on every note and melt into the music🎶
The first time hearing Eva sing OVER The RAINBOW....I sobbed!
Well, yeah. Contemporary music blows by and large. The seemingly endless rediscoveries of Eva are at least a positive.
You ain't just whistlin' Dixie there, brother
I’m 70 years old, and Eva has been my favorite female singer since the first time I heard her, 20+ years ago. Field of Dreams made me shiver, Danny Boy made me weep. There are so many memorable covers, from songs that are so diverse, it’s simply incredible. It is October as I type, and Autumn Leaves comes back every year.
I got on here to jot a note about Danny Boy as it is rarely mentioned in discussion about Eva's songs. When she hits those high notes so clear and sweet it's so unbelievably beautiful.
Have you heard "Waly Waly"....the same feeling!!
PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU for this AWESOME DOCUMENTARY
Her voice stirs emotions that others just can’t. Every time (every single time) I hear (I mean stop and listen) to her version of Over The Rainbow 🌈 I cry. It is so heart wrenching. You can feel the physical pain.
Her voice touches your heart unlike almost any other singer.
The caress of each note, the soul that she gave the who arrangement is frankly beyond beautiful. When I first heard her sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow, I had tears running down my cheeks. Absolutely fabulous. Gone far too soon.
~What a beautiful soul and talent!!!..........Amazing magic~
Discovered Eva a few years ago and what an absolute pleasure. Terry W (RIP) needs to be thanked for continually bringing her voice to our attention in the UK on Radio 2.
Love Katie Melua too .... total respect for the respect she gave to Eva.
Her voice was so heavenly. She is singing to us from up there now. Eva Cassidy is a talent preserved.
Amazing singer , her voice alone was an instrument enough 🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻

It's funny how we all hit here by different means.
Her version of "Fields of Gold" is my ringtone.
"Out of her mouth into your heart" What a fantastic statement!
Bless her .. she had to die before being truly appreciated. I hope she is singing to the angels .. what a voice!
Just to let you know ... your post brought tears to my eyes as I envisioned her singing for God
Can you imagine how boring it was listening to those angels playing harps all the time and their feathers getting stuck in the stings and things. But these days are all gone now Eva has arrived, God fired the lot of them. Heaven is even getting popular, now Eva is the performing arts director:-)
I have 5 of Eva's CDs. They're all so good, they all make me cry. Angelic voice.
I just love Eva, the pure colour of her voice, the truth of her music: magic and beauty. Thanks for sharing this.
Her voice is the most amazing.sound ever. really would loved to hear her all the time. To short of a life.
Her talent & perfection are like that of nature ; not contrived or full of ego .. shining through like the sunshine …to warm us … like a bird released… songbird is such an ideal title for her album …
An incredibly beautiful woman and her life was cut too short . R.I.P Sweet Eva ~ ❤thank you for all you gave to us .
Finally!!! Eva will BE!!! The world could not let her go!!
Wow Wow Wow ! The Voice of a million angels ... If ever there was a living angel albeit her short life, it was Eva Cassidy. WOW !
Intimate pure clarity magical mezmerising voice that will make you stop and listen to her talking to you.
This is my third day of listening to her (after stumbling upon her just two days ago). I can not get enough! What a supreme talent!
Welcome to the club....3+ years for me. Purest voice I've ever heard, aside from Alison Krauss
Eva's spirit lives on and her hearing her sing is a powerful reminder of this. Thank you for creating this wonderful video. WA state, USA
I wish I could thank Eva for this absolutely beautiful music. It is beyond amazing. I would like to thank the people interviewed. They did a great job. I have no musical talents so I learned a lot from their observations. Thank you one and all. I enjoyed every note and every word.

Exactly. The BEST singer of the 2nd half of the 20th century. Bar none.
Eva is everlasting ❤🌹 always and forever
RIP Terry Wogan... the radio DJ who was the catalyst for getting Eva's music heard in the UK. He's featured in this documentary.
I just added my comment about Terry. We in the UK owe him big time as it was through him that me and many others got to hear and fall in love with Eva's beautiful voice. RIP Terry
Amen.
For anybody to purposely dislike this video should seriously check themselves for a pulse. Eva was phenomenal and her music taps into the soul.
agreed.I haven't heard an angelic voice but hers is purely heavenly.
WELL THERE ARE 26 IDIOTS AND MORONS ABOVE WHO PRESSED THUMBS DOWN!!
Love her Voice, her Attitude, lovley Soul natural Woman & Angel Voice🙏 Unforgetable💜
Her voice was pure gold. R.I.P, Eva
Her voice was fields of gold!
Best female voice I've ever heard. Pure perfection in timing and delivery with a wonderful and emotional color.
I will ever remember you could always make me cry :) and sing every song I miss you
She was genuin, never forget first time I hear her, got strait to my heart .
What a great video! I so love Eva Cassidy. Thank you so much for this. 🥰
Eva's voice reaches the soul and evokes such deep emotion. This documentary made me so sad that she died so young.
@TheSaintOfSundby so many great vocalist, comedians, artist and actors have recently passed, it's overwhelming.
only the good die young..
-Den
What a beautiful voice she had,
The minute I heard songs Birds, I bought the CD and then I bought What a wonderful world
One of the great voices of all time.
I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary, beautiful, touching and put together with reverence. Thanks for making it available.
You will always be in my heart Eva Cassidy.
