I cannot THANK YOU enough for this video. I tried for 6 hours and spent one hour on the phone with Cricut staff to get my machine to calibrate!!! ......to NO avail. They are supposed to call me back on Monday to try to help me further. Then, I found your video and IT WORKED. Circuit should be paying you for this!!! Thank you again so MUCH. I will be telling them about this, though they are very nice and try to be helpful.

OMG! You are a life saver. I have had my Cricut Explore One for a week. I was trying to create iron on images for little cloth drawstring favor bags for a child's birthday party. First, my computer couldn't find the Cricut Explore One device. I spent 30 minutes on online chat with Cricut customer service. They could not solve the problem - but I found someone on You Tube that could! That problem was solved. I could finally print the image on the iron on paper but the Cricut Explore One couldn't cut it - so I had to hand cut each image. Ugh. Coincidentally, I thought to myself last night, maybe I'll try to hand darken the cut lines and then I found your tutorial and you did that!!! I can't wait to try to see if this helps me. I will probably never call Cricut Customer Service help line again. I will go straight to You Tube tutorials!!

Hey everyone. Sometimes in shipping dust settles on your optical sensor. Take a fine brush and clean off the sensor with a painting brush. Sometimes the answer is simple.

After two hours of trying various methods (grayscale, best setting, sharpie, a dark room...multiple times), I put cardstock in my printer, clicked PRINT, changed the COLOR to BLACK AND WHITE, changed QUALITY to 1200 dpi..and PRINTED. It worked like a charm! Explore read all of the marks & completed the calibration!!

  • @VexMage
    @VexMage 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I just had this issue and I know this is a 7 year old video, but perhaps it can help someone else. Also I acknowledge that the software has certainly changed since this first video. I did the sharpie thing and it worked! I also needed to increase the quality. There is an option, at least now, to "use system dialogue" when printing. Maybe it's always been there, maybe it wasn't available for Mac (I'm on Windows), but with the dialogue opened I was able to adjust the quality and the resulting print had dark enough lines that it didn't need the sharpie. Bottom line, the sharpie trick worked for me, so did changing the quality. I'm very appreciative of this video because it gave me a testable hypothesis and while I've wasted several hours already, this video saved me from wasting several more or giving up on my project. Thank you again, sir, I hope you are well.

Thanks for all the suggestions and video. Unfortunately none of them worked for me. I had to call and send them a picture of a calibration sheet. Quickly the tech had change printer settings to color (darker blacks), chose "letter" and un-check the "fit to page" box. Worked like a champ afterwards.

First: Thank you! Of all the things I've tried over several days, THIS has finally worked.
Second: My Explore Air 2 uses a full, rectangular border for the cut marks. (Every video and picture tutorial I've seen for cut mark problems have shown those same corner hashes as in this video. I kept thinking that my problem was that the cut marks printed for my projects was incorrect. Well, they aren't. They now work... with the Sharpie trick.)
Third: I'm still amazed that this was the solution.
    cheers.

I will probably need to use this info when I try print & cut, but for now I'm having a hard time finding and answer for my problem: I'm trying to cut what I sent to the mat but it's saying that I'm using print then cut, even when I make sure the "bleed" box is not checked. Carli Wright you have select what you want to print then cut and then select "de-attach", after that you have to select the part you want to cut and edit it to cut in layers because attaching will undo those selections if made previously, I hope that helps

Hello Everybody! I have just spent the last 3 hours trying to use the Print then Cut feature on the new Explore Air my husband got me as a present. I kept getting the same sensor error everybody else got. About to throw it in the street when I saw the suggestion to change web browsers. I am on a MAC and was using Safari. I switched up to Firefox, and not only did my machine start to work, I stopped getting errors from my printer. Plus the image quality seemed better, which is weird I know, but it is cutting as i type this and I just wanted to share my success. I hope this helps out anybody else! Good Luck!

Thank you so much for preparing this video. I called Cricut today to end the matter of my issues with print then cut. Results: A. Do not use Laser Printer - ( I was for this cut) it could melt and cause a problem for the printer when it heats the vinyl B. Use Firefox or Chrome not Edge or IE; > for this run I used FirefoxC. Use Best Quality for the printer > set my Canon Inkjet to high; D. Fit to page not to be set > checked my printer settings > set my Canon Inkjet to Normal; E. Ensure the settings are set in the Control Panel > Devices and Printers> not in the Cricut software;F. Test with paper first; Result : PerfectG. Run with the Printer Vinyl.- Result: PerfectH. Wait for ink to dry before cutting as could smudge as it sits on the top of the printer vinyl.I. Do not switch browsers during the operation.and.... Voila!!! it works... The Explorer had no problems reading the sensors and it cut perfectly inside the image.Thank you Cricut and thank you The Charming Lotus. :-) I had tried the Market and bought a special light to light up the area. Didn't need either using this process.

He spotted a very slight bend in the mat, and I mean slight. SO I grabbed a new mat that was perfectly flat and voila! - it worked. SO now I am am properly calibrated and have printed/cut a few test pieces. As my luck would have it, my bluetooth is now acting up and it had been working perfectly before for just regular cuts, but that's a problem for another day.........Thanks again for your videos. Hope this helps some others...

What a great video! I will try this when I get home! Should I use a sharpie pen on all the sensor marks or just the top right one? Thank you so much!

OMG it worked!! Thank you! My problem was that it would only cut one of the two pictures printed. But I did what you said and put it back on and it cut them both this time. Thank you so much!

The sharpie trick wasn't initially working for me, until I drew the second cut sensor larger than it printed and so far no more issues. I also filled in all cut sensors, just drew longer lines for the second sensor. I will also be cleaning the print head when I get a chance, but for now this seems to do the trick.

@ Diane Jiminez down below: You deserve a medal!
I was ready to ship my new Cricut back...
Here is Diane's solution quote put cardstock printer, clicked PRINT, changed the COLOR to BLACK AND WHITE, change QUALITY to 1200 dpi..and PRINTED unquote
This finally got me thinking in the right direction:
On my MacAir connected to HP Deskjet 2450 I had to print something else and do the settings Diane suggested, i.e. best print in black and white, save as "Cricut" preset. Then I put a sheet of cardstock in the printer, followed the Cricut screen prompts, selected the cricut preset I had saved from the previous job before I hit print. The Cricut calibrated perfectly and I am a happy camper! Thank you

I have tried everything to get my machine to read the cut sensor marks and nothing seems to work. My machine will not even read the cut sensor marks on the calibration page. I tried using the sharpie and still nothing so I am going to return my machine and get another one and see if that works before I completely abandon this product altogether.

I have been trying to get my print and cut project to work all day. Finally watched your video and was so excited for it to work. Unfortunately it didn't work. I chatted with Cricut and they told me you can not use a laser printer for print and cut projects. Do you know a way around this?

Enjoyed your video - but I have the issue of my printer not being recognized by when I am working with my Cricut, even though I can print any MS word document. I have switched my browser from Chrome to MS Edge and that still would not work. Do you have any suggestions to get my HP Deskjet 3510 to be recognized in order for me to do a print-then-cut project? TIA.
