Have you heard of Swedish and Norwegian forests with rather uneven ground and full of sticks, cones and needles? Then a hammock is perfect because you don't have to look for level ground and the forest is full of trees. 😉🤗

I am fan of hammock, even if I have the cheapest from aliexpress... and is loads of improvisation to fix some safe cover above me in case of rain or even when over the night temperatures change it starts to be wet from above. Still learning things, but somehow prefere this over the tent.

A Dutchman living in Sweden here, I only recently discovered your videos and they're a huge inspiration! Going on a motorcycle trip to Norway with two friends in a month, this would be the perfect addition to bring!
It looks very comfortable!! The way I get into any hammock is not very useful for Draumr since you sit perpendicular with the line. I would definitely need a few tries before I could get into it 🤣🤣

Very informative video! I have been camping with a Dutchware Chamelion hammock, but like the idea of a hammock that faces perpendicular to the ridgeline.
Looks like a great night sleep. Some adjustment to get used to it, but I really want to try one. Sitting/laying position and details are very well thought out by the engineers. Like that an insulated pad would work well without having to add an under-quilt on colder nights like a Warbonnet or Hennesy. As a side and front sleeper, I like the lay flat position. The main downside for backpacking is that a 2x person tent can be shared, but with this solution, there is twice as much to carry for 2x people and the cost would be $900-1000 for the pair of us. Never mind backpacking with 4x people. Just really inefficient and expensive vs sharing very light 2-man tents that by comparison are inexpensive and reduce weight and size when packing with others.
They also have a lightweight version of the same hammock, but as you say! It will still take up extra room in the bag if you are two backpacking. But if you backpack alone, a 2 or 3 person tent is just too big. It all depends on your needs. This is hands down the best bed i own, and I try to bring it as often as i can, but some times a tent is a much better option. So i would not be without any of them. Cheers

As the Amok Fjöl winterlight airmatress does have good insulation R5 (-18C) , you can use your sleeping bag as a quilt. I can sleep like that till temperatures drop to +2-5 C without any problem in summer undies. If nights are colder or windy, long sleeves are needed or go in the sleeping bag. After over 500 nights in the Amok these are my experiences.
This is really good information. Me personally does not like the winter light mattress that much, I find the fabric to be just a little bit too soft for my back. So I feel like I have to blow it up all the time. The UL matterss is by far my favourite. Perfect in-between, but I have never used a sleeping bag as a quilt.. this I need to try. Amok Draumr is by far the most comfortable hammock out there ❤️. I have tried a few others. It would be very nice to have one more so I can invite a friend to come with me out in the woods to experience this lovely adventure. Many of them does not have a hammock. A good way to inspire others.

There is so many great ways to put it on the ground, the challenge can be to get the tarp high enough, but there I use some extra sticks to put it up. An Amok user in Africa.. that would be great 🙌🏻 good luck to you brother 🔥

Planning another 4 week trip and watching youtube I find more and more 'places not to miss' the next time! Still the best motorcycle destination in the world, once the norse gods finished making Norway you can see their left-overs scattered around the world.
I've always used hammocks where you sleep in the same direction as the rope and the swinging side to side gets to me some times, this looks like a great design from Amok

Have sweet dreams in an Amok. So comfy you don´t want to get up in the morning. Haven't really slept in it yet but have tested it for short moments.
The green one for sure is the best.

Very convenient when you live in a country with pleanty of trees. The yellow looks very "EASY FIND ME" when you need rescue.
