Restoring The Grill Bottom On A 1930's Car Or Truck

  • Hello again! In todays film we will be repairing the severely dented grill chin panel on a 1935 Chevy Master. These lower grill panels are often badly damaged on 1930's cars and trucks and tracking down a usable replacement can prove difficult, if not impossible. Fortunately, repairing a smashed up original can be achieved with basic tools. Also stay tuned to the end for a short documentary on cats playing golf.

Never have I ever, enjoyed watching someone do something, that I will never ever do, so much. I think featuring the 35 Chev would make excellent channel content. (Keeping in mind that all my decisions have resulted in a channel with 18 subscribers) Personally I love that Chev and think it's perfect the way it is. But my standards are very low.. That's a pretty amazing reclamation there !!! That piece looked like something that fell off and got run over a few times !! Heard about "Knee Action" suspension a few times as a kid but never had any experience with it so, yes, seeing how that old system worked would be kind "fun" !!!
Obviously, you are well aware how "strange" all of us who are willing to "dig up" a totally wasted piece of antique metal and spend a fortune as well as a lifetime making it look better than it EVER did in its entire history !!! We all have to admit, it's a sickness, putting it kindly, and/or an "addiction" putting it "not so kindly" !! ;o)
As an "ancient" California old car fan, I would favor a slightly "low front" rake, with the "big and little" whitewall tires ( ?? 2.5"), solid steel wheels, trim rings, and small caps. Chevy had some "kool" color combinations for the 49 and 50 Chevies. Mixing a couple of those colors between the basic body and the pin-striping/wheels always look great with the whitewalls, solid wheels, and trim rings.

Looked like you were using the mig wire filler trick, small uncoated brazing rod works good with a Tig for pin holes. Also piston rings for filler on cast iron works well, old guy taught me that so I had to try it.

I try to use .030 mig wire for most of my tig sheetmetal work
