I'm not an mgs fan, but I know Kojima and I know he's the mastermind behind it. When I saw that video game awards clip and read he was NOT ALLOWED to show up, that sinched it for me. To disallow a creator to be recognized because the big business behind him wanted to throw its weight around was the ultimate insult. To take his name off of the game was disgraceful. A company like that does not deserve my money, and certainly does not get my respect.
From a technical point, that wouldn't have worked for the consoles. You might not know it, but both Sony and Microsoft impose limits on the DLC content size. I'm not sure about the size on the PS4/XboxOne, but for the PS3 and XBox360, a DLC (paid additional content) can't exceed 5GB (originally it was 2GB). The way MGSV:PP is made doesn't seems to allow high compression so patches of additional content are really limited. Another thing... The Engine on MGSV:PP, when released, wasn't ready for COOP multiplayer. In case you didn't knew, COOP multiplayer was supposed to be part of the PP game, but it was removed because of the instability of the engine to manage the multiplayer side. This is why they limited the multiplayer side to : • Base invasion which involve only 2 players and is limited to a small area. • MGS:Online which is limited into a confined instance of a specific size. Originally, Kojima said the game was to allow up to 4 players to play the campaign. Later the infos was retracted and it was explained that they couldn't allow true freedom with 4 players in the campaign as technical issues were all around. From my knowledge as a game dev myself, I would guess it's something that was either related to server/client management of the assets... like imagine if 4 players at 4 different area, yet close enough to be within each other scene were to wreck havoc with grenade launcher and all. What if each player would see their FPS drop to 10 at such event? There's also the complexity of managing the events that we see in the game (while playing as Big Boss) if we had 4 players in. What would happen if 1 player get stuck or killed? Everyone fails? Also, I'm pretty sure MG:S manage the assets in a completely different way. They must have build the levels (even if they look alike to the one in MGSV:PP) and their content to allow an online COOP to run fine without drop on the FPS. Kinda like reducing the number of enemy models (diversity) so that we can have more customized actor (players) in the scene that spawn stuff like the fence or trip wire we see in the previews. MG:S uses an upgraded version of the Engine. Sure, they could patch it up for all the consoles and the PC, but the issue with such an thing as overwriting the whole engine of an existing game not only includes massive amount of debug issues (like everyone's MGSV:PP not working anymore), but also an astronomical big update... How would you take it if you MGSV:PP would requires an additional 20GB+ patch? By separating the games, they allow people to have a better controls over whenever they want or not that new content. I don't say that I like the way MG:S is going... I would have called it something like Mother Base Survivors or something like that and everyone would have guessed it's a Metal Gear game, but wouldn't have ranted as much as it's "not a Metal Gear game". But I do see the sign about how things went into that direction from a technical point of view.
I’m with Kojima. Zombies shouldn’t even be in the same sentence as MG. Castlevania, probably but not MGS, even if it is anime without the anime, it’s mostly serious, sometimes. You get what I mean
Let's just get one thing straight here; Konami doesn't give a fuck about their consumer's, but their money. Yeah I know gaming companies like EA are the same, but Konami seems to be the worst right now.
The funny thing is; they don't even seem all that interested in the money. If money was the issue, they'd be turning out sequels every year, that are essentially the same damn game. So I fear the real issue is sheer incompetence as opposed to blind greed.
Brett Perry, it's because AAA gaming is hard. The recent heads of Konami hate hard, hence them sticking to phone games, pachinko machines, and a very lazy zombie idea for new Metal Gear content.
I'd had enough of Konami's bullshit ten years ago when they dumped the Suikoden series. One of the best jrpg franchises to ever make it stateside, and they didn't even blink before scrapping it. Even being recently bombarded by hordes of fans demanding a new entry in the series, hasn't amounted to much more than a few condescending remarks that seemed to suggest that we don't really want a new game.... we just think we do. The thing I don't get is; if Konami's done with em anyway..... then why not just sell or lease the rights to some of these franchises, and let someone else make the damn games.
Brett Perry Simple - they couldn't bear the thought of someone else making money from them... They'd rather just sit on the names instead! Talk about f**king petty...
Brett Perry I bought a bunch of loosed ps2 games that were mostly scratched and suikiden one and two all discs were included had to refurbish them, I hv to be honest, I was very into it. I didn't finish but known them and am glad. I love dark games like shin megami tensi but the combat get hard boring.
Let's say this. They fucked over Kojima twice, to the point where he purposefully made MGS5 badly to piss them off, and then they shut down a possible horror game that would be the next big thing since Amnesia. Then they fuck up most of their franchises, and say their fans are the problem. I don't even think they could even do a Contra game right if they wanted to!
You want to know why they are making metal gear zombies. 2 words. Cash Grab No they have given up on metal gear. The only thing they are doing now is milking the name for as much as they can without putting the effort into making a quality title.
I think its important to note that Konami didn't make the FOX engine Kojima did. He made the ultimate dev tool for medal gear and then they fired him because his custom engine made it possible for anyone to make something that plays like medal gear.
"Why Do Gamers HATE Konami?" When a company treats its employees like slaves, destroys its IPs in shameful ways (pachinko and mobile) and even resorts to the legal system and threats to PREVENT a game producer for recieving an award that he rightfully won, what do you expect? That last part still baffles me, because it's treated like a crime. Really? Receiving an award for a series you worked on can either get you sued and/or jailed? And it's like Kojima wouldn't have been able to counter that either. BTW, Jim Sterling, a former Destructoid journalist now free-lance on TH-cam, covered a LOT about Konami's recent decisions. You should check these out, they're eerily informative... and quite funny as well ^_^
- shitty business practices - the treatment of Kojima - canceling Silent Hills - shitty mobile games - pachinco machines - toxic work environments - abandoned franchises - no communication with Press - mishandling of game franchises The list goes on and on. There have been news articles, TH-cam videos, and blog posts about all of this. There is no gray area as to why people hate Konami.
I like this new format. I don't hate Konami but I have the feeling they don't want invest too much money in developing new game. they're trying to cash in as much as possible with their most beloved franchises, with minimum effort and risk
yes, as company it's understandable what they are doing, as player, using your words, is disappointing. but even if they stop at all to make tripleA titles, I will be always grateful for making games such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill or PES
Jotaro Kujo79 Definitely, that's a very rational and respectful way to view things. There will also always be a special place in my heart for Zone of the Enders too!
As consumers, our only way to show dissatifaction, is to quit purchasing their products. So you getting this MG means you support their decisions. Gamers need to really stop being so passive, about these developers crapping on us. Remember we pay their wages.
Which is... not that uncommon in the industry, almost commonplace. EA had this issue a few years ago and it lasted a really really long time - changed now, but it left a mark. There are leaking rumours about inhumane conditions at Ubisoft. A rumour has it that Squeenix is the reason GRIN shut down - instead of cancelling the contract, they simply stopped milestone payments and stopped answering mails and phone calls and left the development company not knowing whether to continue work or to look for a new contract elsewhere, while working on a Final Fantasy spinoff. Granted, that was the Japanese part of the house, I haven't heard a single bad word about the part that used to be EIDOS.
just because other companies do it does not make it any better and should still be talked about to put pressure on the companies in question. I only mention it here because it is an added layer of BS business practice the new CEO at Konami seems to have no problem with while at the same time doing all of the listed things in the video.
As an older gamer, I must say that Konami have been an awful company for at least 15 years. The simple fact is, due to mainly human nature, we all (myself included) dismissed the reported stories of employees being moved offices 3-4 times in a day, trying to work while your power was being cut off by the dept heads, being isolated from other employees (how team silent was formed) etc as long as we got great games published by them regularly. Now that the proverbial poop has hit the fan, suddenly Konami are the worst when they have always been this way. A lot of it has to do with Japanese culture (which I do have great respect for) requiring a company to "look after" its workers for the rest of their lives unless they resign themselves or have proven misconduct so that they can be fired. This ends up in weird situations where company bosses are basically annoying employees to try to get them to quit. I'm afraid some of your facts about Konami are incorrect also. More research should really have been done here but I encourage community engagement regardless. ;}
Speaking about the thing kojima said about zombies. I hope he's not forgetting that the skulls in mgs the phantom pain acted (and looked) like zombies. So. Yeah
Employees are also being treated unfairly, some are still committed to Kojima and are hating other employees for not going with Kojima. Seeing how this is, I would say Kojima was the Big Boss of the business, hell he was the face of Konami itself, his coworkers respected him and are loyal friends towards him so you can already tell that he is a nice guy for sure.
Enjoyed this video. I will definitely never buy any other Konami game ever. I already have their past games like Metal Gear Solids & Silent Hills. I think what they did is appalling. Kojima was wronged big time. Taking down PT also a low blow for fans. Unfortunately I waited too long to get PT. But played it on a friend's console. I would love to download it oh well. I think they will lose a lot of fans. They definitely lost me & some of my friends. I also heard the guy that did Castelvania left because of ill treatment & it's one of the worst video game places to work. They proved that they really don't care about their employees or fans. There are plenty of other game companies out there. Konami game over.
The guy behind Castlevania Symphony of the Night is developing a spiritual sequel that has sadly been pushed to 2018 to hire some more people to polish the game as much as possible.
It's a shame that Kojima does not have the rights to Silent Hill...! I am pretty sure he could give us a new masterpiece and bring Silent Hill back to old glory!!!
ya know... thinking about it... the way Konami treated Kojima is similar to how Kojima treated Hayter... (and I'm including not just the whole not being told he's not voicing Snake anymore, but also Hayter being the only one who had to re-audition for each game, and how he still got shafted despite all he put into the series, including his own money)
I don't know why anyone is surprised about the behaviour of Konami to Kojima and Kojima to Hayter. This is the Japanese way of life, it's their culture, no loyalty, no honour, no fucks given about anything or anyone, except of course the bottom line, money and power. You don’t have to be Chinese or a POW under the Japanese in the 1930s/40s to know that. Also the Celts in Europe were creating better swords two millennia before the Japanese came up with the katana (samurai sword), I'm just saying, it's pretty much a slightly sharp iron bar
I love hideo Kojima but at the end of the day if the next metal gear game is good I will be buying it. I got bigger things to deal with in my life than hold a grudge against a video game company. Let's just hope some of the guys that worked alongside Kojima actually learned something.
Konami is almost entirely corporate run, that's why they make so many seemingly dumb decisions. Good videogames just don't give them ENOUGH profit anymore, they would rather stick with safe, cynical cash ins and gambling machines because they are cheap to make and guarantee profit.
they hurt a millionaires feelings who dont even know I exist and just a dollar sign to him, that is the logic of konami haters. especially ones that dont buy konami games
To me, it seems that video games are no longer the priority. As was stated in the video, AAA titles are expensive and are not guaranteed to get the biggest return imaginable, at least not in comparison to Pachinko machines. For example, games like Bulletstorm and Daikatana were expensive to make and didn't make a return to match that expense. Bulletstorm because it was entered into an already saturated market along with CoD and the like, Daikatana because it was a festering pile. Anyway, big - budget games no longer pay the bills reliably. When they pay out, they pay out BIG. When they don't, studios get dropped. Gambling, clearly Konami's current focus, will always return because of two rules: 1) There's a sucker born every minute, and 2) The house always wins. Although they've always worked on Pachinko machines, Konami would become infamous for abandoning that for which they were most well known. Their money lies more in gambling machines, but their legacy lay with video games. The restructuring made them choose one or the other. Alas, money talks. Unless something talks louder, then money screams and shouts.
What offended me the most was all the shoddy ports of their classics Konami pressed on disks and tried to sell us over the years, like the Silent Hill ports. Disgraceful. But I seriously had to chuckle at Kojima denouncing zombies in a Metal Gear game. Metal Gear Solid 5 had their own share of zombies after all.
Congratulations, on your job, it's my favourite TH-cam Channel, and you did a great job, lived your narrative, your voice is great, well placed, sounds great! Keep up the good job! Welcome to the family son!👊
The real question is why do gamers hate everything. More games than ever yet whining daily. I remember when we happy to get any damn game. I think unlimited access has spoiled these geeks.
I like Konami, even if they have made horrible mistakes. They are a huge part of my childhood and the only group with Yu-Gi-Oh! Games and cards. Plus a ton of GameCube games and I play the games still. Plus dance dance revolution is amazing in arcades. But they have made a bunch of crappy decisions, and they are being rude to human beings.
If you haven't even been keeping up with gaming news in all the shit konami has done.... it shouldn't really be a question at this point, more like common knowledge.
why hate konami? my answer is: ask the yugioh community, they can provide you with over 100 legitmate reasons why. horrible treatment and disrespect and marketting bs is one of them. failure at reaching and acknolwedging target audience yet spamming adults with kids stuff. also ZERO prize support money for winning YUGIOH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IRL CARD GAME. prizes even for regionals and nationals have always been shitty prize support anyway. and then there is the countless judge scandals. and also the whole banlist for profit thing. the shade against the secondary singles card market and the whole paying judges with booster packs thing. EDITED and also adding to that list of things "FORCING BAD god aweful reprints down the throats of yugioh players" and "bad structure set up for booster packs content being only made to make a profit and throwaway decks acquired previuously due to being useless because of the next power creep in the next newest sets to come" constant cycle for money and profit making. banning not cards that cause problems but intentionally creating new problem cards and allowing them to run rampent long enough and then only hitting them on the banlist to maximize profit so those cards dont affect the next new thing that comes out to dominate and run rampent. repeat cycle againa nd again
I think people should boycott anything Konami and please if there's one crazy person out there burn them down please it will quiet the voices in your head
I wont even watch this video. I know the history and I know the answers. Also I have a better question: Why #FuckKonami? The answer: Cos Konami is Konami and Konami is the worst!
Darker I figure that you dont agreed with my opinion about supporting other person opinion and its fine cos opinions are opinions. People have right to have their own opinions, even if they want to defend a shitty company that doesnt even deserve it. Cheers.
for you crying because there are zombie like creatures the soldiers infected were more zombies than these creatures in mgs survive are and kojima replaced david hayter which i really hate that kiefer is the voice of snake but i hope konami remakes the first metal gear and metal gear 2 the msx classics and they should hire david hayter agian
Never been a big fan of the guy who does the talking at the end (sorry), but really enjoyed the video...the mix of talking to the camera & voice over is much more accessible in my opinion.
So, a ten minute video to say thing that everyone who gives a crap about Konami knows, and then...are journalist obligated to not go to the point? That without Kojima, all they dis was a RESIDENT EVIL MODERN GAME with randomly slapped the Metal Gear name on it and shipped it to try get a final squeeze from the franchise? That it's abundantly clear that they are shifting to the pachinko business completely, while however not releasing their GAMING IP and abusing them to attract fans into...gambling??? The voices about their work policies that pretty much are " you work on this 24/7, but the product and the frainchise are all mine and you should be grateful we let you work for us? " and " everyone can do an IP, Kojima and Co. are just lucky we let them be the ones to do it" ??? Seriously, is this a click bait for how uninformative it was?
Way more eloquently said than most people who don't like Konami XD Also, I definitely like the video. I'm sorry, but the voice of the regular guy is hard to listen to sometimes. His inflections are so off-putting at times. But yeah. enjoyed the almost documentary format and talk session :) keep it up!
It may be a way to make sure you know if a game is going to be good, but I never exactly understood why trying to learn the name of all the people that may draw the stuff for my game or did other stuff in it. It still is interessted to listen to so far.
I can think of one game that we need: The Demon Castle Wars. Simply put, a third entry to the Sorrow titles within Castlevania, showing the battle of '99. If you don't know what happened during the battle, Julius Belmont teamed up with Alucard and a Hakuba Shrine Maiden (along with possibly St. Germain) to destroy Dracula one last time on the fated day given by Nostradamus. What results is Dracula being permanently destroyed, and his castle being sealed with a solar eclipse, and of course Dracula comes back reincarnated as Soma and happens to be within radius of the 2035 eclipse which happens to be over the Hakuba Shrine along with the daughter of that maiden, Mina. Details of the war may have included the appearances of the Lecarde twins, Charlotte Aulin, and Jonathan Morris, given that they were present when Dracula was last destroyed in 1944. So to see this battle take place would be a moment of awesome to show HOW things happened in Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow
Konami has been working hard for at least the last three to four years in building that infamous reputation. Not only by what they did, but what they didn't do. Now, I don't remember if they did or not state they would abandon AAA games in favour of pachinko and mobile games, but I do know that their recent attemtns at gaining back the audience, and re-attempting to make games, just casually happens to coincide with the point in time at which Casinos may become legal in Japan. Which would mean a decrease in the Pachinko revenue and a fierce increase in competition on the gambling market, reducing their slice of that cake.
Mistreated and Fired Kojima, haven't touched Suikoden in years, Pachinko, treat their employees like shit, Pachinko, their CEO is incompetent, PACHINKO. Ok not jokingly, their business practices these days have been nothing short of batshit insane and vitriolic, the treatment of their employees is just plain abhorrent and unacceptable, their abandonment of video games (well, their former plan.) was just what brought it all to plain view. If we are being honest, if they are gonna redeem themselves, it starts with replacing their current CEO, who is nothing short of incompetent, and start treating their employees better. also Suikoden 6, but that's a personal thing.
Great first video but I feel it could just be a little shorter. Maybe a faster pace? Or less detail, despite the fact that you had done your research well and it is clearly shown in this video. Will watch more of your videos! :)
The video format seems good, I would say a little too organized if that makes any sense, could be slightly more loose in terms of script but overall it works, just needs that personal touch., Late response but sent with love.
Here is what it boils down to. Konami has chosen to go a different direction. Kojima had little to do with Metal Gear Solid 5, and I argue that Metal Gear Solid 5 was not a Metal Gear game. There were barely any boss fights, the only redeeming factors were the gameplay and the music.
I know the map in the demo looks similar. but I hope they have new maps and more avatar options. and if I see a hint microtransaction, I don't think I'll buy it
Pachinko is not "a form of entertainment and gambling" because they are not entertaining and it borders not gambling. You'll be very surprised if you think it's pinball because in reality it is an almost skill-less test of enduring slight adjustments in turning a lever over and over among the deafening sound of metal balls.
my heart goes out to all the metal gear fans.... we too where optimistic in the beginning when konami closed team silent. then more and more shittyness happened. for me the final straw was the cancellation of silent hills. it wasnt losing the game that hurt, it was konami toying with us. Konami-"this is what you want isn't it, a fun silent hill game..........well fuck you all you ain't getting it" konami. konami have not been a good company for a long time now but its only now that more people are seeing it.
for me the biggest difference between revengance and survive was the way they integrated with the rest of the franchise. Revengance was out of house and made sure to distance itself from the main series not only in time but in characters and settings. Jack (Raiden) was already an established character who was liked due to mgs 4 but it didn't bog itself down in unnecessary cameos from other characters except Sunny. It didn't affect the canon of the main games in any way and carried on themes seen throughout the franchise. The PMCs were also from 4 and child soldiers were later seen in TTP. Survive on the other hand is in house and do takes resources from other beloved franchises and completely alters canon to shoehorn in a zombie plot. Alternate reality is not an excuse unless it gets some kind of acknowledgement on why, random portals are a stupid reason. It asks us to look at generic action guy #668 and want to be in his shoes when great characters are one of the main selling points of metal gear along side great gameplay, which their could be due to copying kojima's work and innovation which I see none of. Revengance was a story unto itself and tried to be something new for the franchise, playing as the standard cyborg ninja, whole survive just gives us zombies and tells us to f*** off.
an interesting side effect of the Konami implosion is a sudden surge in OTHER game companies listening to the fans and giving them what they want. FF7 Remake. New Zelda. All the amazing games slated to come out on consoles and pc. And Kojima and his own company with Death Stranding. The panic button was slapped hard when the gaming community backlashed against Konami.
Konami done fucked up the first time when Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama left that place due to compliance with company policy, Now firing Kojima? Thats gotta be the stupidest move they've done.
In '86 Kojima was working on Metal Gear. Not Metal Gear Solid. Pedantic, yes, but we shouldn't forget what started it all, especially now that it has officially died.
You can still get demo not the disk but on PS4 store you can download the demo. I just download Dragon Quest Builder demo and after that demo I pre-order the game.
Ganbare Goemon series (known also as Legend of the Mystical Ninja) spans over 24 titles over a thank you hardcore gaming about history this one mostly Cutest there characters is also wai wai world on Nes it means world konami Most gamers are familiar with Konami's classic series - Castlevania, Contra, Gradius, and so forth. Yet one of their longest running series has remained mostly obscured to those outside of Japan. Making only occasional appearances in the West, the Ganbare Goemon series (known also as Legend of the Mystical Ninja) spans over 24 titles over a period of nearly twenty years
KONAMI's conspiracies for Metal Gear (not)Survive would be like: To create or upgrade weapon? Buy MB coins. New cool clothes? Costs MB coins. Ran out of large amount of resources or being stolen by other players? Buy MB coins and fill it up. Wanna have S++ ranks soldier? Invade other people's high leveled strictly fortified base or... use MB coins:) Have a collection of deadly guns you want to use? You will lose stealth and you get sins for killing zombies. What does sin effects you? You die easier. Single player? Bah.
Konami was excellent in the 80's if a game was a Konami game you knew it was going to be good. They made heaps of games back then. Shame about now. Good vid.
mgr revegeance was actually also disappointing because in its original teaser back in 2011 or 12 it was supposed to run in the new fox engine and also it was supposed to be called metal gear solid rising. where you actually fought pmc soldiers and not just androids everytime.
Because they forgot their past. When was the last time Konami released a Gradius or a Contra? For hate's sale, his slogan used to be "we love shooting games"...
Hideo Kojima:A visionary deprived of his franchise
Konami is already dead, they don’t have my money anymore.
Metal Gear Survive could have just been DLC for phantom pains multiplayer. There was no reason to release a whole new game that no one wanted.
From a technical point, that wouldn't have worked for the consoles. You might not know it, but both Sony and Microsoft impose limits on the DLC content size. Found a typo in your video title. It should read: “Why does Konami hate gamers?”
glad to say my copy of mgsv has kojimas name on it
Fucking lucky bastard

I liked it, also liked the new guy!
just continue
u stupid they do talk in the comments
GamingBolt keep up the great job. Hopefully to see more. Once a great gaming company now shadow former of its self.
Konami fucked up ! End of history !
Brad Rolim how
You want to know why they are making metal gear zombies. 2 words.
Cash
Grab
No they have given up on metal gear.
"Why Do Gamers HATE Konami?"
When a company treats its employees like slaves, destroys its IPs in shameful ways (pachinko and mobile) and even resorts to the legal system and threats to PREVENT a game producer for recieving an award that he rightfully won, what do you expect?
That last part still baffles me, because it's treated like a crime. Really? Receiving an award for a series you worked on can either get you sued and/or jailed? And it's like Kojima wouldn't have been able to counter that either.
BTW, Jim Sterling, a former Destructoid journalist now free-lance on TH-cam, covered a LOT about Konami's recent decisions. You should check these out, they're eerily informative... and quite funny as well ^_^
- shitty business practices
- the treatment of Kojima
- canceling Silent Hills
- shitty mobile games
- pachinco machines
- toxic work environments
- abandoned franchises
- no communication with Press
- mishandling of game franchises
The list goes on and on.
Because they are a business. Which makes sense to anyone that has ever invested money in something.
Yeah, I wouldn't say that I hate them either but disappointed is the best word I'd use.
yes, as company it's understandable what they are doing, as player, using your words, is disappointing. but even if they stop at all to make tripleA titles, I will be always grateful for making games such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill or PES
Jotaro Kujo79 Definitely, that's a very rational and respectful way to view things. There will also always be a special place in my heart for Zone of the Enders too!
yes if course, as collector, I have both games for ps2 and the ps3 hd remastered but I never played them
for me, Metal gear without Kojima or kojima's approval is not metal gear. so good bye konami
Now Konami is crawling back to their Fan as Japanese government clam down on pachinko studio.
Ubisoft, EA, and Konami need new CEO
As consumers, our only way to show dissatifaction, is to quit purchasing their products. So you getting this MG means you support their decisions. Gamers need to really stop being so passive, about these developers crapping on us. Remember we pay their wages.
I like this guy I want more plz
Freddy Holmes thanks!
If you liked him here, you can check him out on our TH-cam channel as well!
shameless plug...
LMAO
more like shameful clone plug.
this video seems to short to list off the reasons people hate konami. upvote if you think so too
They also have had people come out and claim that the game studios under konami operate similar to and comparable to a modern day sweatshop.
Which is... not that uncommon in the industry, almost commonplace.
I bet Kojima got too big for his boots thinking he was untouchable..
As an older gamer, I must say that Konami have been an awful company for at least 15 years.
The simple fact is, due to mainly human nature, we all (myself included) dismissed the reported stories of employees being moved offices 3-4 times in a day, trying to work while your power was being cut off by the dept heads, being isolated from other employees (how team silent was formed) etc as long as we got great games published by them regularly. Now that the proverbial poop has hit the fan, suddenly Konami are the worst when they have always been this way.
A lot of it has to do with Japanese culture (which I do have great respect for) requiring a company to "look after" its workers for the rest of their lives unless they resign themselves or have proven misconduct so that they can be fired. This ends up in weird situations where company bosses are basically annoying employees to try to get them to quit. I'm afraid some of your facts about Konami are incorrect also. More research should really have been done here but I encourage community engagement regardless. ;}
My question is. 'Gamers hate Konami?' Wasn't aware of it. I wonder what the percentage of all gamers hate Konami.
Companies change over time new people take over and things rarely stay the same enjoy the old Konami games those are still great games
*cough* Konami fucking over Team Silent after Silent Hill 4 *cough*
You forgot Contra though.
And Zone of the Enders! Damnit!
Yep and that one too, amazing game.
I Started to dislike Konami, for what it did to Kojima, PT, and other great games.
Silent hill...
...And Goemon... And boktai... And twinbee.
Rokabur Thanks for the info. That is quite a bit to wait. Oh well. Take care. Cheers
First video uh? welcome , great video
Thanks!
I enjoyed it man! Really professional and in depth for a first video. (:
I love hideo Kojima but at the end of the day if the next metal gear game is good I will be buying it. I got bigger things to deal with in my life than hold a grudge against a video game company. Let's just hope some of the guys that worked alongside Kojima actually learned something.
Konami is almost entirely corporate run, that's why they make so many seemingly dumb decisions. Good videogames just don't give them ENOUGH profit anymore, they would rather stick with safe, cynical cash ins and gambling machines because they are cheap to make and guarantee profit.
One thing I hate Konami:
No Mission 51
because they refuse to make more Suikoden!!!!!!
It's funny because in Norwegian Konami means my wife but I don't have a wife.
they hurt a millionaires feelings who dont even know I exist and just a dollar sign to him, that is the logic of konami haters. especially ones that dont buy konami games
Not sad about Silent Hills. Without Team Silent no Del Toro nor Kojima can make this. Nothing will ever be close to SH1, 2 (masterpeace) and 3.
your intro theme tube legit makes me feel all christmassy and like it's Christmas
thank you
Jenn Noble lol
Jenn Noble np
No mention of the suikoden series? One of Konami's greatest RPG's, I would love to see a return.

The answer: Cos Konami is Konami and Konami is the worst!
best jim sterling quote
I figure you have quite an advanced analytical thinking and don't rely on other people's opinions to make judgements about things. Cheers.
Darker I figure that you dont agreed with my opinion about supporting other person opinion and its fine cos opinions are opinions. People have right to have their own opinions, even if they want to defend a shitty company that doesnt even deserve it. Cheers.
sammy remy And that have what again to do with my comment or this conversation? Please do tell us mate. I really wish to know,
sammy remy Says the one who is bringing nothing to the conversation about #fuckkonami
Ironic.
for you crying because there are zombie like creatures the soldiers infected were more zombies than these creatures in mgs survive are and kojima replaced david hayter which i really hate that kiefer is the voice of snake
but i hope konami remakes the first metal gear and metal gear 2 the msx classics and they should hire david hayter agian
good debut man. you are flawless and prepared. keep it up
1:05 Right, because Yugioh's _video games_ were _TOTALLY_ a popular part of that franchise.
Awesome to see Landon bring a face to Gaming Bolt as well! If you liked him here you can check him out on our channel as well.
I don't hate
Konami. Mgs was past its prime anyway.
Prefer this new format, way more informative and allows it to feel more like a debate than a rant at the company. Very pleased with the idea :)
Never been a big fan of the guy who does the talking at the end (sorry), but really enjoyed the video...the mix of talking to the camera & voice over is much more accessible in my opinion.
Thanks! Glad you overall liked the new format.
"i don't think gamers were generally offended by metal gear revengeance release" Projared was.
Like the new format. Pretty cool!
I like how you are disecting and explaining all these, instead of just saying/posting FUCKONAMI everywhere, which alot of people are doing. Thumbs Up
Way more eloquently said than most people who don't like Konami XD
Also, I definitely like the video.
It still is interessted to listen to so far.
hey man this video was great. thanks for the info.
I've always wanted to see that game made. Sadly I doubt it'll ever happen.
Games: the most intricated cooperative art never created. I just love it
Mistreated and Fired Kojima, haven't touched Suikoden in years, Pachinko, treat their employees like shit, Pachinko, their CEO is incompetent, PACHINKO.
But gamers give Capcom, EA and other companies a pass.
Kojima ain't no God!
I know the map in the demo looks similar. but I hope they have new maps and more avatar options. and if I see a hint microtransaction, I don't think I'll buy it
gamingbolt do you think that thier might be new dlc for MGSV.
nice video bro and I also got the ps1 demo of mgs in pizza hut also
0:54 "Used to love" yep, we all USED to love Konami, but now, I don't know what's they're doing with their lives
I'm glad I kept watching. From the title, I thought this was going to be a defense of Konami, not an actual explanation video.
You're cool Landon! Keep up the good work!
I remember when AVGN said he fucking loved Konami.
for me the biggest difference between revengance and survive was the way they integrated with the rest of the franchise.
Pedantic, yes, but we shouldn't forget what started it all, especially now that it has officially died.
honestly, i think jim sterling answered that question more comprehensively with;
konami is konami
&
the silent hell that is konami
I don't think it "seems" like gamers hate Konami. It is very apparent they do. #fucKonami
You can still get demo not the disk but on PS4 store you can download the demo. I just download Dragon Quest Builder demo and after that demo I pre-order the game.
How do they just take all credit for Kojima's company? I don't really understand, can someone please explain?
For example, hideo kojima had been making so many metal gear games before his retirement. The latest spinoff game without him is Metal Gear Survive.
konami should be the one that got burned down instead of kyoto animation
Ganbare Goemon series (known also as Legend of the Mystical Ninja) spans over 24 titles over a
thank you hardcore gaming about history this one mostly Cutest there characters is also wai wai world on Nes it means world konami Most gamers are familiar with Konami's classic series - Castlevania, Contra, Gradius, and so forth.
Good vid.
Easy, Konami flat out introduced micro transactions,
mgr revegeance was actually also disappointing because in its original teaser back in 2011 or 12 it was supposed to run in the new fox engine and also it was supposed to be called metal gear solid rising. where you actually fought pmc soldiers and not just androids everytime.
Because they forgot their past. When was the last time Konami released a Gradius or a Contra? For hate's sale, his slogan used to be "we love shooting games"...
I just want Castlevania Lords of Shadow 3. Great take on the Castlevania story.
