      Isn't it funny how easy it is to put pressure on ourselves? I dunno about you but the more I notice it, the more I see all the ways I pressure myself where I would be compassionate to others!

    I tried it and it really worked. Sitting crossed legged and doing hand gestures now.

    great content, thanks adell. but why wouldnt yin yoga help the brain in accommodating in these position and learn with the deep breath that this is "safe" and learns to let go? why wouldnt the brain somehow adapt to the range of motion wich are very unusual to the day to day movements in somebodys life? i dont see how this shouldnt have any effect on flexibility, regarding the newest knowledge on the myofascial system....? thanks for your thougts

      I think yin can help in that regard -- learning that a position is safe. But if the muscles are passive, then there's far less information going between the muscles, fascia, and joints and the brain, so the brain isn't learning these ranges of motion as well as if we also engage the muscles in those ranges of motion. So yin isn't totally useless, but if you want to gain more flexibility it's going to speed up the process by activating the muscles in this ranges of motion too.

    What do you think about yin yoga? Is there any real benefit ?

    • @AdellBridges
      @AdellBridges  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think it's probably really great for some people who need that practice that just brings them into mindful stillness. I don't know of any scientific data that demonstrates that yin actually increases flexibility though. From everything I know and have studied, you cannot rely on passive stretching alone to increasing flexibility.

    • @swaha55
      @swaha55 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AdellBridges I agree. It is so popular though and I think a lot of people think it will help them to become more flexible.
