If Ayrton was still alive, he would be along this gentlemen also sitting around them and tell stories from the Toleman era. So happy they got the Toleman team back for a reunion in this special occasion. Thank you Sky Sports F1 team!
What an excellent documentary piece. These videos are incredibly important, not just for entertainment but for History. It blows my mind that in 100 years time people will be able to look back on the history of the sport and actually see it like this. Amazing.
only 11k views? come on... new fans just need to learn and understand a little bit history. This is such brilliant video! Watching Ayrton was my whole childhood.
Well done Sky F1, utterly enthralling television! Seeing those former Formula One drivers jump back in those cars has made my day. For Brian at 75 and Derek’s in his sixties to jump back in a F1 car on a wet day is huge achievement. Brilliant to hear the story of this remarkable giant killing team, it must have been wonderful to be part of this.
We need more of theese documentary/podcast type videos including people who were part of it back in the day. Nice informative watching during an off season. Also lovely to see theese cars used on track where they belong to.
Great to see these lads (Lads) around. I remember the poster with Senna in the double-wing TG184 at Monacos hairpin on slicks (a photo from one of the practice) in my room for ages... Is Mr Henton till wearing his (original?) GPA helmet???😳🤔
Saw this last night. Got chills. I remember that Monaco race very well. Ayrton was a hot shoe coming out of British F3 and was Martin and yes he could've should've did win that race except for the corrupt FIA favoring Prost but I also recall the British media was not completely enamored with Senna yet. Hearing Murray and James is like nothing has ever changed. I would recognize those voices anywhere. However, who recalls that Stefan Bellof almost overtook Prost and Senna prior to the end of the race. Pat Symonds is an instructor advisor at Cranfield (along with his day job) where one of my former co-ops just finished his Masters in Engineering. Enjoyed seeing Super Hen as well. Same guy! And Derek Warwick has not aged other than grey hair.
Hi, everyone, I'm from São Paulo State, home of Interlagos F1 Circuit. Where I could find a complete Documentary about tiny Toleman F1, if not in a British Broadcasting? Britons know how to do an exccelent job when the issue is Formula 1, the motor racing culture overthere, the Goodwood Festival, the time British Media gives to F1, I "take off my hat" for your good job... 👏👏👏
Formula 1 is for sure a great Brit sport. Period. Senna when we won one of the Formula One Championship said: “ I am a kind of British racer. My career start here in U.K. “ Thank You for this great video.
Not even the illustrious Lotus, can compare to the ingenuity of Toleman. Toleman as a national force, is quintessential British engineering on a shoestring budget yielding incredible results. The Hart engine also proved that English machine tools were capable of incredible precision proving that outsourcing the power was not necessary.
I always associate Pat Symonds with the Williams renaissance of 2014. Sadly, Williams no longer seems able to rise from the ashes as it did 9 years ago.
I often wonder what would have happened if Ayrton Senna had gone to Tyrrell and Martin Brundle had gone to Toleman instead, given that at the time Tyrrell was considered the better team and Martin had a better start to his career.
So Senna, from the way he left the team, ruined the budget and the owners were forced to sell. And then the car was good for pole position anyway. That both killed Toleman and sealed the future for Enstone. Who'd take wins from Senna a bunch of times.
Wants Senna’s fault Toleman wasn’t even the team he wanted to drive for, he tested for Williams and was faster than all the drivers they had but would y have an open seat for a year or two. Toleman was losing sponsorship before Senna left in the middle of the season they lost the main sponsor, them sitting Senna out probably didn’t help them.
"nearly won" ...since when the guy that comes second is nearly won? twisting the reality....not nice Mr Brundle... Forgetting about BEloff, coming 2s a lap faster than SEnna, Forgetting SEnna damaged his car and could not have finish the race...
Sennas car was fine it was Prost who’s brakes was failing and Bellof car was illegal and was DQd. Ickxs was also the Porsche sports car driver at the time probably was trying to help McLaren who was using Porsche engines. He actually got in the way in the long run costing Prost the championship to Lauda.
@@zacharyradford5552 Bellof was not disqualified, he finished 3rd and no claims were made during the grace period. Different thing is if later on FIA doesnt take that result into account for world championship points... Bellof was 3rd and that still stays to this time.

Yea amazing
Yes. Agreed. I remember when Senna - which his nemesis in F2 was Martin Brundle said about him a very gentle words of admiration.
Its a crime how underrated and unnoticed some of sky’s amazing pieces like these go.especially stuff with martin
That 83 Toleman with the twin wings is just the coolest.

Well, i don't think this video is gaining much traction in the algorithm. The only reason I found it is because I manually searched for Toleman 1984.
@@yellow_x522 I searched for “season review 2002” 😂

Thank you Martin .. you make sky f1 what it is , fantastic insight into days gone but never forgotten .. passion

The fact that Senna managed a fast lap and 3 podiums in a TOLEMAN was insane! And as a rookie no less...Greatest driver ever, and its not even close.
Jim Clark?
If you could still ask senna himself he’d say Jim Clark was the best ever.
15:01 For just a moment, Derek Warwick de-aged by nearly 40 years.
Really emotional to see this ... Amazing !!!!!
Imagine a new team rocking up in F1 now trying to build both their own car and engine in a year.

Bellof was still a ways back but he was catching them in an illegal car.
Wonderful doco, as an F1 fan since the early 80's I loved seeing how much enjoyment the guys got from driving their old cars once more.
Absolutely bloody fantastic what a team 👍👍
Wonderful documentary and it made me emotional! Love those cars and of course Ayrton is not forgotten!

fantastic story 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I remember that media in general didn’t bully the team and sensed some respect from the paddock
Drivers like senna ......made the car look good
In 2022 , the car makes the driver look good

Superb!!! Loved every minute of this.🏎🏁😃
Imagine you could go back in time and say ‘hey guess what, if you design the wing like this you’ll go much faster’ ha.
Hopefully Sky will do follow-up of this with the Benetton years 1985-1995.
This is so well done.
These are my favorite ! Great content . Thanks Martin🤘🏼🏁
Not much mention of Brian Hart who was responsible for the engine, the Hart 415T.

Imagine what they could've gone on to be if they only had enough money to not have to sell the team ?
The usual F1 corruption killing off anyone that dared challenge the status quo. And that continues to this day, see Andretti.
