Pierre has been a Senna fan based on his previous interviews and he even helped with the charity events for Ayrton Senna's foundation or charity institution. Pierre is such a kind-hearted person and he deserves this opportunity. So happy for you, Pierre! ❤😊
Alonso should've been there instead.
Agreed
But what did Naomi do to deserve such an honor?
@@lloydgross5762 Nothing close to deserve it.
As a Toleman fan who followed the team in the early 80's this was great to watch. 40 years ago and in the year we also lost Ted Toleman, thanks for doing this.
What an era it must be to witness all of these live on track
I did growing up. Only now do I see it as a precious time.
not only that drivers experienced insane levels of adrenaline, but spectators as well.. insanely loud engines, smell of the fuel, death always so close behind every corner.. my heart would be pumping like crazy
It was. Cheers.
I became a fan in 1983, as a 7 yr old. I look back on these days as truly special. I’ve not seen a current generation car live, but hace seen ecery gen from 90s up to hybrid. Fire breathing turbos were epic. Love that brundle turned up to talk to these great young pups!
@@danielheathcote5625 I didn't start watching until I was about 13/14 - but that was in 1974/5...
I was 11 years old, when i saw Senna in this car.....see this helmet in this car again, gave me goosebumps and the Monaco race in my mind
I have to appreciate Gasly kind words on Senna after watching Senna drive live so many lazy Sundays growing up.
Martin should have a run too!!
He is having a break from driving after he finally had his ankle remodelled from the legacy of his smash at Dallas 1984
He has driven it at Brands Hatch with Derek Warwick having a go as well.
Fantastic to see and hear. One overlooked link is that Pierre's current team, Alpine is the direct descendant of the Toleman team. Often called the "Enstone Team". If memory gets this sequence right; Toleman, Benetton, Renault, Lotus, Renault, Alpine.
and Ironically that same toleman team competed against the original Renault F1 team
@SkySportsF1, can you PRETTY PLEASE make a Playlist of people driving old and cool vehicles PRETTY PLEASE instead of finding them?
Actually a great suggestion !
Yeah I've been watching a lot of the Goodwood historic era car Monaco races recently, man, even though they are slower they are just so exciting to watch. Pure ICE and h shift transmissions, and those drivers are on the edge! Just run the machinery on synth or bio fuels if folks are worried about the CO2.
This was good. Real good. Pierre is a cool driver, but Naomi in that car was "oooh goosebumps." Not only does she look good in racing overalls, but she can drive and seeing how she loved this treasure, it shows that she knows her stuff.
Sky, do more of these. With Naomi too.
Hey Racers... I am an 88 year of make... so not quite your generation...
And sometimes I really had my struggles to understand your generation.
BUT what you both did for the honor of Ayrton Senna... thats incredible...
its so nice to see that even your generation has not forgotten Senna!
And to be honest: you both managed the stickshift really well! For me there is one simple thing for sure: if somebody fire up one of Ayrtons cars then the magic happens... Ayrton is alive in every single piston with every single ignition.
Pierre and Naomi you are the top of your generation... and both great humans. some of the kind that dont laugh at older generations, some of the kind which look back and smile because of honor, respect and missing good people. go ahead and all the best... I hope there is always those little bit of space and time between you and a crash...stay well and stay fast...
The modern helmet Gasly commemorating Senna looks great and like the classic inline colour he had in the foam padding. That car is visceral and raw and like the sound.
Quite an emotional moment for me I can’t even imagine how you two felt
For information, Toleman was the foundations of what Alpine is today (basically the whole Enstone factory). This is an incredible opportunity for Pierre, I would probably cry if I was him :')
Good point! I had completely forgotten that until this reminder... Toleman becoming Benetton, and then on through the lineage and all the changes to today's Alpine.
I honestly thought that’s why Pierre was chosen, i.e. because Alpine was descended from Toleman.
SENNA LEGEND FOREVER ❤😊
Give them a run in Senna's Lotus 97T
Yes I agree, that's my favourite 80s turbo car ever 😍💯
What an experience that had to be for those two, almost dreamlike. Especially with the kind of grey overcast weather, that seemed to add an almost surreal atmosphere to the scene. Like they might have woken up the next day and thought... "wait... wow, that really happened!". Also good for making a guy feel old (I'm close to the same age as Brundle), remembering watching Senna race the car on TV, now seeing it driven by people who were not even born until years later.
I'm a Senna fan since 1988 i was a little boy started watching f1 about 11 years old without somebody ever telling me f1 existed.
Now i also would like to drive 1 of Senna's car, i think i deserved that too.
It makes you realise how soulless the current cars are. Whenver modern drivers get the opportunity to drive a historic car, they're always blown away by the experience.
It’s just different mate. You drive a modern F1 car and try not to be blown away, stop complaining
@@willjackson6522 it's all relative, of course. Just an observation, hardly complaining.
I'm sure I would be blown away...until I binned it on the first corner
@@dmayres and if you bin it on the first corner in the new car, at least you can walk away.
@@tommy4862 very true, they used to be so exposed
@@willjackson6522 the old car are much more spectacular. Even the cars from 2013 are a world apart from the big stiff heavy overly complicated soulless things they drive now
Great tribute to the legendary Brazilian driver
Rei do Senna melhor do mundo e eterno e herói Senna 30 anos sem vitórias e alegres todos domingo sem Senna saudades pra sempre te amo Senna becão 👑🇧🇷👑🇧🇷💚💛💙🙏🏻 gratidão Senna te amo nosso coração tá vivo pra sempre amém fé paz amém 🙏🏻👑🇧🇷
Well done!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 really happy to listen that Senna is inspiration to Gasly!
Lifetime memories for 2 very lucky people ......❤❤
とても素晴らしい走り~最高~‼️❤️💕アイヨ~❤️💕☀️😂😂🐍🐨🐨🐳💐💐💓💓❤️🎊🎊🐶🐶🎶😄😆😆😉🤣😍💮
Such a cool looking car. I wish cars could look and drive like this again.
Ayrton Senna 🙏👌👌
ガスリーだ!
セナのトールマンをドライブする姿は感動する
What an opportunity for them. So cool. Well done Pierre and Naomi.
Knowing full well the extent of Ayrton's talent, my admiration for Allain only grew in these last decades. I feel French single-seater drivers, of which Pierre is currently the more rounded one, could benefit from studying more under Le Professeur. When you're young you tend to root for the fastest on track, but age has this way of teaching you to appreciate smarts. Allain was never as quick, but he's one of the best race strategists of all times. He was Scott Dixon before Scott Dixon, always putting himself in the position to capitalise on the smallest mistakes anyone made, and that won him three F1 championships.
SENNA 👑
also shout out for giving Naomi the opportunity to drive as well!
😊toleman hart 1984 3 podiums 13 points 9th in wdc that year best finish 2nd
Nice tribute, merci Pierre!
They need to learn about Jim Clark
Surely they must know about him and others of his era.
Pretty sure that’s the 4 cylinder 1.5 litre turbocharged engine..?
We live in such a superficial age…they never even mentioned the engine, which is at the heart of any racing car!
Well the Hart 415T was never th most remarkable of engines and the company could never develop it as much as the big companies.
They never mention it was a Toleman
Great clip. Well done N&P.
Stunning car
It was great to see the word HART and Senna won at Mondello Park.
The double-deck front wing of the TG183B is somewhat similar to the front wings of some 2008 cars.
Oh the memories of seeing that dreadful race when the world lost Ayrton. It hurts but its wonderful seeing that car driven again. Thank you all. This brought tears to my eyes, fantastic! Thank you so much
Obrigado, Pierre
I‘ve seen Senna in this at the Hockenheim GP but was a fan of Piquet in the Brabham BMW. That was a great time with great looking F1 cars, not as big and fat as today.
People today don’t really understand the impact that people like Senna and sport had back in those days. I tried to explain to people the impact that Australia had when they won the America’s Cup in 1983. Don’t get it. I think events like that and drivers like Senna , bands like the Beatles will never be repeated again which is very sad.
never thought i would say this about sky but this video is amazing
Amazing thing to see. And it puts current F1 in the spotlight in a bad way. These cars, the sounds and driving experiences is what it should be. Not these big heavy weird things they have to hustle around now.
Senna is the one 👑
Gasly is one of the last people I have lined up to drive Senna's car.
Well, there is the Toleman-Team Enstone-Alpine race team historical lineage... Not that the Sky F1 producer would ever think of mentioning this in the feature...🙄
Well, he is an actual accomplished F1-driver. He sure as hell deserves it much more than that gal. She even missed the pitlane-entry. Happy for her regardless.
Naomi too……
That car slaps 🤩
Senna ☺️🏁🏎️💨🥰😳😊
I’ve got black and white photos from his first test with Toleman and Brands. Martin was in the Tyrell and Nigel in the Lotus…
The older that era of F1 cars gets, the more beautiful the look and sound.
🇧🇷 Ayrton Senna um grande Homem!!
Um grande Piloto.♥️
Fantastic experience!
If you could pick one of Sennas cars to drive it would be the MP4/4.. but driving his first F1 car comes close.. Well any opportunity to drive a Senna car is special.
The Toleman is the origins of what is Alpine today. 4 current employees at Alpine worked on this car 40 years ago 😉 so has its connections
What a wholesome trio, more of them please. Maybe more onboard footage too? ;) But great homage to the master, thank you!
Wonderful!!
Please FIA Bring back manual transmission & V10 engines to F1 😋
Great video. Thanks.
Toleman went through Benetton , then Renault then Alpine, so the lineage is there.
Small, light, nimble these old F1 cars, unlike today's trucks .😬
This is a W right here
Who else thought Gasly would say "Bring back the V12" 🤣
Well, this Toleman has a 4-cylinder engine, so it would have been a bit of a non sequitur.
@@CJinSD1 a 4-cylinder turbo engine to boot
V12? What? You can even see the engine in the film...
@@CJinSD1 Brian Hart built some really good Engines.
V12s would be too heavy & useless
Senna = G.O.A.T.
Amazing Helmet
Great piece of F1 on SKY !
The goat, senna!
Thank you for this.
great video!
Formula 1 should create a league where they drive this type of car
ครับ
Very very cool but I would like to see this pushed harder. It's like Vettel's run in the other car, they don't seem to push it hard enough.
Not sure if they can't (those cars were REALLY hard to drive) or if they're not allowed but damn I wish they could drive them as they were meant to be driven 😆
I would’ve liked to have seen Senna’s 2 biggest fans; Lewis and Alonso driving that car
you cant measure who's the biggest fan and most deserving
Why isnt Seb hosting these? Seb, Brundle and a young guest. Seb and Martin truly appreciate the old days.
Box Ticker shouldn’t be given this great honour.
I wish they showed the outtakes! How quickly did he learn to shift the car without stalling?
Finally a proper car to drive for Pierre 👌
I'm surprised Pierre wasn't asked how it felt driving a significantly smaller, lighter car than his current Alpine.
Driving happens at 4:50
Such a cool videos. Thank you Naomi and Pierre for bringing this to us. 💚💛🏁
we should make small car like that
Is there a plan for anything at Silverstone to remember Senna this year?
Yes - the Silverstone Festival Aug 23-25 will have the biggest collection of cars Senna has driven from karts to rally cars
Have u seen the new senna livery for monoco mcclaren just dropped a vid
@@JasonAllen-md4cc looks amazing 👏, hoping they do something for the Silverstone F1 weekend as we will all be there
I've been alive, but back then, we didn't have Eurosport or any channel to witness F1. And tbh, I wish we had someone else in this video. Wish it were Alonso instead. Who knows what he's talking about.
Just another reason to go back to analog F1 cars
Proficiat Naomi. 😘
Naomi so fine
💚💛💚💛
He would have won Monaco (84) in this car, but Prost got scared of him and asked to finish the race before Senna could overtake him…
Senna had done more than people knew in his home country of Brazil. His legacy lives on with his charity foundation.
I can't think of anyone less deserving to drive the car than Schiff.
Fr
😅
How come ?
Has she driven an F1 car before?
Who should? Danica? Katherine Legge?
Not my favorite era of cars, but much better than today’s overweight boats.
The early ‘90s and early/mid 2000s easily had the coolest cars of all time.
Bring back smaller, lighter cars. Bring back N/A engines on synthetic fuels. Bring back the REAL Formula One.
Nobody wants to drive the Simtek of Ratzenberger?
There is only one Simtek existing and it is not a runner
I think this Toleman is faster than his actual Alpine.
What year did they race those cars? Looks very anemic.
Should have put Martin Brundle in the car instead of that Schiff. He would have driven the car as it should have been
Good job that they didn't let Ocon in the car it would probably be in the wall.
THANKS ❤
At last Pierre has car he could probably win in!
❤❤❤
This car was one of the worst on the grid, Ayrton Senna almost won the Monaco GP with this car starting from 13th, taking 3 secs a lap from Prost time. Ayrton is a legend for sure.
Glad the car is still intact after they let an amateur like Naomi Schiff drive it! 🤣
I'd like to see Sky put Danica in an F1 car and see what she thinks of it.
