      I guessed that it would be Cameron. Great to see him again, he's such a nice guy and great worker. Sorry that Ellias let you down again, he needs to grow up or give him the boot! Excellent jobs, the roof on the first one looked brand new. Hope that baby River is doing well? Take care.

    Great work Sid, it’s a shame you’re so far away or I would have happily applied for the job. Your young lad needs to get his act together, as much as he may be a hard worker you can’t keep being let down by him. You are running a business that is obviously successful, but you can get overrun with work due to success, what you then can’t afford to be is a man down because he couldn’t get up in time. It’s obvious you care about your team and as such are maybe giving him more leash than normal, but when it’s starts to affect your business then maybe some hard conversations need to be had. However we can all give good advice as armchair critics, you’re the one doing the job, you know your team, you have been under the weather recently, working flat out 7 days a week is not healthy nor will it allow you the quality time with your family, if you go down then the business doesn’t run. Make sure you look after yourself Sid, your health and family are more important than anything else.👍🇬🇧

    I was thinking that Cameron would make a great partner. Someone who shows initiative, just gets on and works hard is such an asset.
    I hope you get someone as good as him applying for the job.
    Looked amazing when it was finished, but like others have said, that patio is dangerous.

    That was an awesome job done by all the crew! Yay Cameron to the rescue 😁 You are doing so good Sid, your temperament (though majorly stressed) has been even and calm. I am so proud of you (not condescendingly more grandmotherly lol) Hope your little family is getting sleep with the new little one in house. Glad you are taking time off at Christmas you deserve it. Take care! See you next time.

    Oh my goodness, I am exhausted just watching you. So good to see Cameron back, he is a grafter with the right work ethic unlike Elias, I know its not my concern, nor my business but he doesn't deserve a job with you. Hope River is doing well, and the rest of your family. Best wishes Christine x

    Watching as I write this, you look stressed, all the best from Scotland,my mum nan Stevenson writes to you on Facebook, you always reply, you are a great guy, BUT you need to do do something about that Ilia's, he always lets you down, we were young ourselves but this is ridiculous,he needs to commit or cut loose, I think he is going through the motions, it will make you even more short of staff,maybe I am wrong,but this is your business, good luck from Scotland,

    • @kwells8807
      @kwells8807 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I agree with you, but, Sid has invested a lot of time (=£$) training this young man and right now he can't afford to let him go. (Another 'but' here.) The time will come when Sid has had enough of that childish behavior and bite the bullet and cut him lose. I would. He has worked with Sid long enough to know better but still pulls this stunt of not showing up when the business/others are counting on him. Not very responsible, certainly not professional. Many employers are experiencing the same issues with their employees. They just don't want to work but they want to be paid, pampered & start from the top of the pay scale. 🧐

    Hell if i wasn't so far away. I would come work for you. I love to clean and watch the transformation. " Pride" that is what is missing pride in ones work. Feeling of accomplishment. I am so glad as i helped to raise my niece who is the same age as some of your crew, i showed het how amazing work can be. She is now a school teacher at 21 years old. So i know there is hope for the future. 🎉cheers

    Question about biocide: When you rinse it off doesn’t it kill the grass / plants next to the walkways, driveways? I admit I don’t know much about the chemicals involved.

    All that extra weight on the roof from the moss can't be good, right? What a huge change in that house. That little walk way through the shrubs was amazing.

    • @alexisgrunden1556
      @alexisgrunden1556 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It isn't; it adds a huge strain of weight to the roof beams, especially after a rain (moss soaks up and holds water like a sponge), and all that waterlogged material in constant contact with the roof can facilitate mold and other types of water damage.

      Not really, the water pressure keeps the pole and jet up, Newtons third law, it's more of a balancing thing, until you take your foot off the peddle, then yes, you are taking the full weight of the pole etc.

    Nice to see Cameron is back for now. I'm amazed that lots of people don't drive in the UK? Is that normal? Where I live in the US, you have to be able to drive otherwise you can't get anywhere. So people usually get their license straight away at 16.

    • @pauljames9393
      @pauljames9393 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      theory and practice takes time for sure for a test. Im not sure of age in the Uk now but 17 when I was a kid. The Uk is packed with cars due to bad infratructure, and too much housing.. 65million on a small Island I guess..

    • @AlexaFaie
      @AlexaFaie 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Can't drive until 17 here and it can take up to a year (or longer for some people) to have enough lessons with an instructor to pass, plus the wait for the theory test is often quite long. I'm not sure if its still the case in America but at least when I was younger my parents took the American test so they could have an American license to get cheaper car rental fees when on holiday & all you had to do was drive round some cones and stuff, easy peasy. Whereas in the UK you have to learn to drive on the actual roads & the test is out on the roads too. And it can take a while to get used to things like when to change up and down the gears. Most cars in the UK are manual (think you just call it "stick" in America?) rather than automatic which is a bit of a luxury. Though with the shift to electric/hybrids more will become automatic. Driving in America is also really easy. Lots of long straight roads. In the UK roads are winding & we don't really have grid systems in towns or cities so even those are more complex to navigate.
      Its relatively common for people not to bother to learn to drive here though because we have lots of things accessible by foot - lots of good footpaths and cycle paths too. Then there are buses for shorter distances and coaches and trains for longer distances. Where we are the buses aren't fantastic in terms of frequency, they're only one every half an hour up until about 7pm, and then once an hour after that until 11pm ish. It used to be one every 20 mins but they decided to remove one bus an hour. Where my parents used to live we had buses every 10 mins until 8pm and then every 30mins until midnight. So I'm kinda used to that. Oh and the every 10 mins was just for the number 27. Could also get the 25 which was also every 10 but staggered very slightly so they'd often stack up & there would be 2 to choose from lol.
      Neither myself nor my brother bothered to learn to drive. I just don't want to & know I'd struggle with keeping focus plus my eyesight is bad & with correction I can't quite read numberplates at the required distance so I thought it best not to try. My brother didn't bother because he knew he was going to university in London & has been living there since. Its stupid living in central London & owning a car as you just can't park anywhere & it's slower to get around than just walking or getting a bus or the tube or a train. Why waste money insuring a car you're barely going to drive because parking is an expensive nightmare?

    • @ChaiLatte13
      @ChaiLatte13 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It makes sense not to get it if you live in a big city where there is public transit. We have nothing here, so you really have to be able to drive because you can't walk to stores either. Where I live in Pennsylvania, we do not have long straight roads or planned, grid system towns or cities. It's very hilly with windy roads and sprawl! It's funny to hear what you think about the towns/roads in the US. haha @@AlexaFaie

      @@ChaiLatte13I lived I'm in Pittsburgh for awhile and totally agree about the awful roads. Hated to drive in some areas. They really need someone to pressure wash the cobblestone and brick roads. They are awful when wet. No traction to go up a hill. Or you are slipping/sliding down the hill.

    Seems there's a lot of people wanting money, but not work. The Chinese have a saying which kind of goes "Strengthen the Centre" when embarking on any endeavour. In other words, provide support to the central figure in any business, and it's better for everyone. Longer term employment, better experience, regular income.

    A job driving? I'd take it in a heartbeat. I drove a company vanpool at my last job and it was surprising how few had a license. Even fewer that wanted to drive a big van. But it's not surprising considering the cost of owning a car. So many companies are going down the path of not being able to repair your own stuff, it makes owning a beater car absurdly expensive.
    Just be careful of insurance coverage if you add the boys as drivers (or if there's any restriction because of their age).

    Great job guys, you need £75 a day labourers mate to do odds and sods. 16-17 year old are brilliant as they have not learned anything or know what to do. Like me I wanted a full job that pays every week and to prove myself. You can then make them do jobs how you want them. God that was long time ago. But had a few guys on for a year. Yes they do setup there self's, but that's where contracts are for. You put a clause in they can't work within 30 miles of your location. If they don't want to sign it and learn a trade, then they are not for you.

    Jeez if you were closer I'd be well up for jumping on board till late December.
    Thinking VERY seriously about starting up in jet washing and roof cleaning etc. Couple of months with you would be an amazing training opportunity. No way my Mrs would let me disappear for two months though.

    Contractually commit someone to seeing out a particular period after starting with you or they have to pay for their training.

    Fantastic result but it looks like at the back in between the dormers and the far left side of the roof are still dirty as if they were not quite finished. Other than that great.

    Some people have too much money and property! All that grass where they could be growing vegetables 😮
