@@bdnr24 depends on what you want, but 15-20k for cars that have been dogged and have tons of rust but they're japanese is crazy. 15-20k for a *NICE* example is worth it in my opinion and not a bad price. You don't need to be a pro to know what a nice Silvia, cefiro, chaser, or whatever looks like, look for no rust, nice paint, straight pinch welds, stock looking engine bays or a well modified engine that doesn't look like a rat lived in it. If you're looking for just a race car I'd say look at something in the US like a 240sx or Miata, 350z, 370z, G sedans, these are all cars you can get for a rebuilt title for like 5k and probably will still run pretty well, then you can put another 5k in suspension components or what have you. Having said that, there is trade offs like: 1) Buy everything you want in one go and no do any work = higher price(25-35k) and less stress. 2) Buy cheaper and mod it overtime. But when you factor the cost of a new body kit and paint, it will probably equal to option 1 3) Buy an auto. They are 60% cheaper than most manuals. I'm finding the same, for the pricing of 90's jdm cars there's alot more appeal to euro cars, not to mention they are often cheap to get big power out of.
Made it my goal to obtain a JZX100 or a Aristo by next September prices are only going to go up. leaning more towards the aristo for the 2J-GTE and wanting to do a 6 speed swap. Sorry but these prices are just insane😅 Nothing reasonable about it. Really not a good representation of what prices are like in Japan. Feel like this shop is pretty overpriced…
Tbf, unfortunately, they aren't far off other dealerships if you actually look online. A lot of cars on geonet are between 15-45k for a manual turbo version of any models sammit spoke about. The market will correct itself eventually. This car culture has been created by the working class, so hopefully it will come back down so working class people can afford them. I know very few people who can spend 30k on what essentially is a project car

The question is how much to add on top of that for fees and taxes for the import. I am guessing a 20K USD car imported into the states is going to add around 5 to 8 K on top just for fees, shipping, and taxes. Still cheaper than the outrageous priced cars some SUS dealers are selling here in the states.
Im from nz and the cerifros rbs and Silvia's etc use to be dirt cheap now they are expensive asf back in the early 2000s ypu could get an cerfiro for under 2k easily
Im not sure if you can but here in Asia where I work a Cefiro A31 is around 7k AUD cheap as chips. Some have a RB20DE and others are swapped with a RB25DET for a just a few bucks extra.
Damn 16k for a na s15 that’s rusting? That seems a little crazy when you can get a 350z or e36 or e46 etc, in the states and build it to be a full on drift car for 15k-20k. These cars don’t seem like they’re priced that good for anyone who’s looking to get into drifting.. Not everyone is rich enough to blow 15-20k on a car to then build it and drift it on top of normal life expenses. Just seems like a lot for a car that’s gonna get thrashed and you don’t daily drive etc.
