Roblox doesn’t care about anybody, not even just Linux users, the community in general. If they cared about us and listened to what we say their platform would be near perfect. I have very little hope that they’ll do anything about this because it could be solved if they just enabled 1 option. They just don’t want peasantly Linux users on their platform.

The best part of this is that they stopped the wine/linux ordeal for their new anti-cheat... which exploiters managed to bypass in days. Hats off to the staff.

I agree even if it means only a few chunk of players will use the linux client that's still a pretty good number. Grapejuice had tons of issues. Mostly lag that I just cannot fix. But for now dual booting will do.
as someone thats both been playing roblox and using linux distros for over a decade, i couldnt believe when i found out roblox was "disallowed" again ... i swear theres been at least 3 times in roblox history where there was one way or another for roblox to work, just for it to **intentionally** get closed off, yet they keep talking about linux and how they want to support it ... shedletsky even admitted to a native client almost being complete a while ago, and if it was it couldve just been updated and maintained along with the other client. i simply do not trust roblox when they say they want a linux port, or they wouldnt have literally barred the community like 3 seperate times, its just nonsensical .....
The problem is that most developers don't give a rat's ass about Linux players and implement third-party anty-cheat software anyway. All it takes is a bit of tweaking for the software to allow Proton/Wine to pass by but who has time for that yeah? While it's nice they are acknowledging the problem, I highly doubt we will see any viable solutions soon. Too many devs are too lazy to check up on the latest Linux news and see that the software issues from 10+ years ago practically don't exist anymore.
well, some devs are giving yes.. and about wine/proton they pass, but they prefered to block it. My guess is that roblox and microsoft partnership because roblox is most played by kids and microsoft want that kids to be accostumated with windows not linux.;

Ok, so it's 2023, most computers are 64 bit, so why did Roblox just discontinue it? And as a GNU/Linux user, we need a native client. We need an answer, Roblox!
Some support dude said that they will re enable wine support when they finish developing the 64 bit client. He said that this is to prevent incorrect metrics from their analytics system.
That happened to me 10 minutes ago, I investigated why this happened and was due to the Byfron update. Sad there's isn't now a way to play Roblox on Linux, I hope there will be a version of the client for Linux soon, because I want to play Roblox with my friends. Wait, I think you can use a VM, but my laptop can support that.
the new Byfron client also blocks virtual machines as well. i remember reading in the thread that the main reason why they shut both wine and VM support is for accurate telemetry data and that wine inherently runs roblox in an imperfect manner such that byfron will detect it anyway
Let's hope this to be fixed in the near future. My little girl used to play Roblox on her computer, but she can't do it anymore because of this problem :(

At 14 years old my father gave me a new system that his brother told him was better than linux, that day I was anxious if it was going to be better than window 10 in any way, but I was going to hate the decision my father made . The first day I had it, that day I was going to download one of my favorite games which was roblox, in linux it wasn't easy because it didn't download as usual but I needed something called greape juice and another called wine that wasn't easy either, It took me 3 days to get it. On the fourth day I had all that and I downloaded Roblox and I was finally able to play my favorite game which was Roblox but at the age of 15 I saw how difficult it was to download other things, my father told me that many hackers use the Linux system and that many companies and games do not use linux. May 3, 2023, at night I couldn't play Roblox because it said that it no longer supports linux wine, I started to see if the version was the problem but no, but on May 4 I saw this video that I'm watching and it made me see how bad linux is it was this day i started to see how to get back in window but the videos i watched were old that means i have to wait for the day they update a new video that says how to get out of linux so i feel that everyone who uses linux has a hard time with linux but hey i hope one day i see another video that will teach me how to get out again because i only had a year with this system because i'm not that good with linux system well this is all,these is one of the longest comments i've ever given.

I think it very disrespectful and rude to tell someone (their customers) that their 2014 i7 2core Dell Latitude 16gig of RAM is not good enough to run Windows 11. If they say it will not run it then they already know why . So why don't they just go ahead and tell you why? But no go here and read x amount pages to find out why. I found this out recently and thought it was a bug, but nothing worked so I didn't know what to do and I am thankful somebody is talking about this issue because I had to rely on windows on my steam deck and it isn't as compatible.
I tried linux every 5 year or so since mid 90s. First pretty much no aplication worked. late 90s with wine a lot of office and work aplication work, but very few games. In mid 00s a lot of old games work, but hardly any new. When windows shifted to 64 bit, old game start working better on Linux than in windows, still New games often didn´t work. We came into the 10s and more and more newer game start to work, but there was still a lot of issues. The issues was solved one by one, but it was very slow process. Steam deck cames, and 80% of the rest of the issues was solved in months. Suddenly almost everything work, and performance is great. I can´t think more than this is actually intentional. Linux is finally viable. Steam makes banks, consumers have the option of choice (to be clear, mac was never really a choice for gamers, and consoles was also never a choice for a lot of game types)
I like that they try to stop hackers, but if hackers really want to have fun they probably have more than the capacity to disable all things that break wine and then hack the game, while legit ones will just stand away, where pirating games is as easy as modding a game

This is extremely annoying, they have enough time to give us the middle finger saying "Wine is not supported" add useless stuff to roblox, yet they cant port linux! Linux has less issues now than before Nvidia is no longer much of a problem.. Hey, as a long time Linux enjoyer, I must say that wine did not suck back in 2012. I think the biggest arguments of Linux being bad for gaming boil down to either user error, or just being too damn complicated of a solution that most people could easily swallow. To be clear: Wine is not Linux. But Wine is very much the unappreciated reason that gaming on Linux is even feasible, second to Proton and third to maybe horrible crippling driver issues that make the whole thing fall apart on the up front. There's no reason Roblox is unplayable on Linux short of they're too fucking cheap and lazy, while also being blatantly obstructive of it. ... also robux sux; waste your time on someting more valuable
i think its possible now on linux cuz of vinegar for wine and maybe evn the mouse works when right clicking and first person and even right clicking with shiftlock on so i whould be happy if you where to make a video on this

hey! just a tip if you put roblox-player:1+launchmode:app+channel:zlive in your url it'll launch the client and you can run roblox! I'm not sure if this is a temporary fix but it works! (No longer works)
I was considering installing it right now for CoD Zombie mod servers but eh, bad luck i suppose. I've never played it but was tempted for the cal of duty and Godzilla servers. But on the other hand I've heard a lot about pay2win bs with their currency.
They should switch their anticheat to one of the more common ones such as the ones used in Black Desert Online and PUBG, because that anticheat is fully supported under linux, they made a bad choice blacklisting a whole OS/Platform for such a dumb reason. A majority of those players were Steam Deck users too!

I don't play Roblox but this is a very typical old-school mentality that their company has on GNU/Linux. They say nobody is using Linux. Just check out the bunches and bunches of channels on youtube these days including yours that get 10s or 100s of thousands of views on videos discussing GNU/Linux distros. They are totally ignoring that. And the thing is, most kids that play Roblox probably don't even know what operating system they're running. I say this because even most adults I know can't tell me what their operating system is on their computer--They don't even know what iOS is. The only one that has widespread awareness towards it is Android for some reason I can't explain. Anyways needless to say some kid who is just using their parents' laptop or computer to play video games isn't gonna know or care what operating systems Roblox runs on. They just know its either a Windows or a Mac and call it a day then take a nap pretty much. Keep in mind this is something that Linux has had to deal with for years--Stigmatizing the minority group of course. It's all just dumb societal hierarchical posturing. I for one have been using nothing but Linux for 7 years and have rejected all forms of societal pressure to use Windows. I would rather be a part of something bigger than myself which is the free libre open source software community than just be supporting some multi-billion dollar corporation's idea of what software should be.

@@Macintoshing Nope, the difference is noticeable and doesn't matter what settings you change, it's not gonna be like Windows. I've tested both. Some Roblox maps are very graphic intensive with too much details and large in size and complexity. These maps are slow as hell, take a good amount of time to load (even with good internet connection), when the maps load to a different round, my Roblox got frozen for some secs while on Windows, the same settings, same maps, it runs flawlessly. It turned out that I had to switch back to Windows, in order to keep developing and playing Roblox normally.
@@Arnt91 well that's to be expected running a game built for windows on an unsupported operating system, but editing some flags and installing custom versions of wine also helps. I also noticed it changes alot based on what distro you are using, Ubuntu and Manjaro run roblox horribly, but plain Arch runs it amazingly.

99% of scripts are on windows and it would be a huge hassle to run or even find. It's completely unreasonable to block linux

still wine is still a work around. but its one that i welcome with open arms

This is extremely annoying, they have enough time to give us the middle finger saying "Wine is not supported" add useless stuff to roblox, yet they cant port linux! Linux has less issues now than before Nvidia is no longer much of a problem.. DRIVERS.. which were HUGE and notorious problems for linux.. just port to linux already its really stupid.. i see linux to be a platform of choice soon for gaming for more advanced people.. let roblox hire someone who wants to spend time to port roblox to linux which could be the easiest option.. just hiring someone who wants to do it ..

Hey, as a long time Linux enjoyer, I must say that wine did not suck back in 2012. I think the biggest arguments of Linux being bad for gaming boil down to either user error, or just being too damn complicated of a solution that most people could easily swallow.
To be clear: Wine is not Linux. But Wine is very much the unappreciated reason that gaming on Linux is even feasible, second to Proton and third to maybe horrible crippling driver issues that make the whole thing fall apart on the up front.
There's no reason Roblox is unplayable on Linux short of they're too fucking cheap and lazy, while also being blatantly obstructive of it.

in your url it'll launch the client and you can run roblox! I'm not sure if this is a temporary fix but it works! (No longer works)

They should switch their anticheat to one of the more common ones such as the ones used in Black Desert Online and PUBG, because that anticheat is fully supported under linux, they made a bad choice blacklisting a whole OS/Platform for such a dumb reason. A majority of those players were Steam Deck users too!

According to Roblox developers, I don't think so. They claim this is temporary and that wine support will come back. We'll have to wait and see.

I don't play Roblox but this is a very typical old-school mentality that their company has on GNU/Linux. They say nobody is using Linux. Just check out the bunches and bunches of channels on youtube these days including yours that get 10s or 100s of thousands of views on videos discussing GNU/Linux distros. They are totally ignoring that. And the thing is, most kids that play Roblox probably don't even know what operating system they're running. I say this because even most adults I know can't tell me what their operating system is on their computer--They don't even know what iOS is. The only one that has widespread awareness towards it is Android for some reason I can't explain. Anyways needless to say some kid who is just using their parents' laptop or computer to play video games isn't gonna know or care what operating systems Roblox runs on. They just know its either a Windows or a Mac and call it a day then take a nap pretty much.
Keep in mind this is something that Linux has had to deal with for years--Stigmatizing the minority group of course. It's all just dumb societal hierarchical posturing. I for one have been using nothing but Linux for 7 years and have rejected all forms of societal pressure to use Windows. I would rather be a part of something bigger than myself which is the free libre open source software community than just be supporting some multi-billion dollar corporation's idea of what software should be.

Yeah but i’d rather give up some performance to not use windows, also it depends on how you configure it. I got mine running really close to windows preformance
@@Macintoshing Nope, the difference is noticeable and doesn't matter what settings you change, it's not gonna be like Windows. I've tested both. Some Roblox maps are very graphic intensive with too much details and large in size and complexity. These maps are slow as hell, take a good amount of time to load (even with good internet connection), when the maps load to a different round, my Roblox got frozen for some secs while on Windows, the same settings, same maps, it runs flawlessly. It turned out that I had to switch back to Windows, in order to keep developing and playing Roblox normally.
@@Arnt91 well that's to be expected running a game built for windows on an unsupported operating system, but editing some flags and installing custom versions of wine also helps. I also noticed it changes alot based on what distro you are using, Ubuntu and Manjaro run roblox horribly, but plain Arch runs it amazingly.
