I enjoy how you consistently hit the chill tones you state you were going for in this channel. The presentation is calm and the tone modest. To me that’s a welcome change of pace compared to other shmup channels, many of which go too far with excite-mongering and elitist undertones for my taste. As the m2 port is in Japanese only, I was wondering whether you can remap the controls in game. Any idea?
Glad to hear you're enjoying the tone! It's pretty much a reflection of who I am and what kind of content I prefer to watch myself. Yes, you can remap the controls and iirc that part is all in English! Select game options from the pause menu, use the shoulder buttons to change over to the controls tab, and you should see your button layout with switchable shot, bomb etc actions.
One thing I took from this clear that helped me with my B-S clear, was the train cart section. Sitting on top of them is genius but you have to be quick.
Was searching for doj videos and you popped up. After watching a couple of your vids I’m hooked. You actually explain things in your commentary! Keep going!
Thanks Hazy, great run and commentary! White Label is so rude to take out all your life's at the end of first loop 😅. Which Ship and Doll you recommend for a first clear (Survival) of BL? B-Exy? Or the one with more bombs?
Hey Vinu, thanks for checking out the run! White Label is indeed the Rude Label 😈 For a first survival run, B-Shotia is probably the easiest one. You get a very wide shot and a ton of bombs. Just be sure to not die while hypering, because then you won't get the extra bomb slots (you get one per death for a maximum of 6 with Shotia). That said... I do recommend trying B-Exy, too. Full laser + full shot feels like what the game was designed for, and it's nice to not have to do much recovery after death. It's rough at first because of the max 2 bomb slots, but you also don't need quite as many bombs as with Shotia. Shotia = easier learning curve, but becomes more limiting as you learn the game better. Exy = harder learning curve, but is more effective once you start to have your routes in place.
@@hazylevels Thank you for the very detailed answer Hazy! After playing couple hours with both ship I totally understand what you mean. In the end I will play B-Shotia for my first clear because its just impossible for me to finish it with the amount of bombs provided with B-Exy lol. But once I will know the game more B-Exy will be better !
@@hazylevels I will ping you when it's done and probably make a video about it. But still a very long way... 🐝 Thanks again for your time and your amazing channel
I did get a clear on Arrange S with Type-B on DaiOuJou Rinne Tensei on Switch. I really hope that M2 gets to put DoDonPachi 1997 on their M2STG series.
Do you watch high level replays to learn chaining routes? Or do you figure them out yourself? Also, I’ve been super impressed with the channel content and your skill!
I've mostly learned my routes through just playing the game for survival a bunch and trying to incorporate longer chains little by little. Some tricky sections, like the stage 2 midboss link here, I've gotten from others. Honestly, I would make progress a lot faster by looking at replays more, but I'm a little lazy about that 😅 Thanks for checking out the channel, I'm glad you're enjoying it!
I've watched this so many times! I'm practising for the 1cc (on switch) & this is really helpful. I can make it to stage 4 pretty consistently now. Its really fun figuring out a route through each stage. I remember the first time I payed stage 3 I thought "this is impossible" but now I whizz through it. The game is not as hard as it first appears and is actually very fair. Would you consider doing a BL run?
Awesome to hear that you've found this helpful and that you're making real nice progress with your own run! A regular BL 1-ALL would be pretty much the same as this WL run, just with more hypers... But I think I'll try doing a BL 1 Round Mode (the one with Hibachi) at some point.
I feel your pain! For the longest time I would always break my chain before getting the first hyper in White Label. As for controllers, I started out with stick cause everyone seemed to recommend it, but eventually I moved over to pad. Stick feels more fun, but I just seem to do better with a gamepad. This run was done with the basic PS4 DualShock.
Not really. You still have to be able to execute the run, which is its own skill entirely. And you have to account for things such as going off route, losing resources in places you didn't expect and RNG. Also, I wouldn't recommend trying to literally memorize the game. Just play the game, experiment and try to find routes that work for you. Enjoying the process is the main thing :)
FIRST THING you are really good at those games, SECOND you looks like a movie character, really stylish and original, i wish the best for your channel
Ha, thanks for both the FIRST and SECOND thing! :)
I've really been enjoying your videos, your writing and presentation are extremely good for such a new channel. Please keep up the good work!
Thank you, I really appreciate it!

Found it! Many thanks.
I was a bit too intimidated by the Japanese in the menus to see the option tab accessible via L and R…. 🫣
Thank you for the video. I really enjoy your content!

Nice, it's definitely a section that is a lot easier if you can be in the right place at the right time. Congrats on the clear!

Loving the channel! Keep it up!
You have a really good channel and content. Looking forward to more of your videos! Subscribed!
Thank you, I appreciate it
Awesome video! Looking forward to more of them
Glad to hear it! Your runs were helpful with my recent Dangun Feveron and Espgaluda II clears, so I'll use this opportunity to thank you for those.
Bro you look like you should be in a sci fi movie like Fifth Element or something :D You got that DRIP
Haha, thanks!
Thank you. Your content is top.
Hell yeah, let's go!
Wow, very helpful watching your gameplay and hearing your thought process. Thanks for the great video.
Excellent gameplay&commentary! GG'S on the clear
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this, looking forward for the ported game :)

Does point blank deal more damage?
When you are point blank lasering, you deal damage with laser plus the aura
It does! Useful in many situations.

Cool run and commentary? Do you play with a pad or a stick of some kind?
Thanks! I prefer playing on gamepad. I use 8BitDo 2.4g controllers on PC and the standard DualShock on PS4.
I still cant get one hyper in the first stage because my chaining skills suck, lol. This replay sure comes in handy. Do you play on pad or stick?

Is survival in CAVE games as simple as just memorizing the stages?
