    Awesome! Your WL 1CC was an inspiration for my own BL 1CC that I finally got a couple of months ago (I used a lot of your strats to get though certain parts). Looking forward to this!

      @@hazylevels hey sorry I feel like I comment on your stuff a lot and I dont mean to be annoying (none of my friends play shmups) but I have a question. Do you ever find that you gotta warm up? Like when you start playing for a session? Im normally kinda bad but like, when I start, for the first 40 minutes i am a mess and then slowly i seem to get back to the progress I’ve been making. Was just curious. I feel like I am slowly making progress in Ketsui but sometimes that game just punishes me hahaha. But I feel like I should always be pushing to try stuff that’s harder than my current skill level allows.
      Also I still cant even begin to wrap my mind around trying a DOJ Blk Lbl 1 Round. Haha that is so wild. Nothing but respect.

    • @hazylevels
      @hazylevels  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha no worries! I think it's the opposite for me, actually. I seem to do better when I take breaks instead of just putting in run after run, tempting as it may be in the moment. Not sure why that is, maybe I'm just more relaxed when I start afresh?
      Yeah the 1 Round Mode is no joke! The Hibachi fight is pretty fun to learn on its own, the challenge is in executing it after first surviving the whole run with minimal losses.

      @@hazylevels interesting! For me i usually play for maybe 2 or 3 hours a night after i clock out of work. And almost every night i get fully dusted off for like 40 minutes. For example, stage 3 Ketsui, im okay at like…getting out of that hellscape relatively unscathed now…but for the first 40 mins im just getting annihilated in there. And taking deaths in stage2. And im like what the hell is wrong with me? And then I warm up, and I’m solid again and I can focus on trying to learn stage 4 and the stage 4 boss. But to what you said about taking a break. Sometimes I hit a wall, and I get demoralized if i dont feel like im making even the tiniest bit of progress i will usually take a break for a night or two and maybe play something else like a Compile shooter or maybe mess around with something i really like like Einhander or Life Force (was stoked to see youre a fan of Life Force. Was my first STG when i was like 7 here in the states). And then when i come back almost always i do much better and make some progress.
      Also, what you said about being relaxed. There was a point in your run when you defeated Hibachi, where you said something like, “my nerves were making me make choices that maybe werent the safest” and I 100% get that! I have such a bad habit of realizing, oh man hey this is a good run, and then chain death, and i look at the replay and I’m like…what the hell was I thinking why did I not just bomb there? I think thats my biggest problem other than learning safe routing is not bombing when i should. You gave me advice once that was like bomb bomb bomb and then i focus on just that ALWAYS i go farther. And for me personally, I noticed that when I dont care, I tend to have my best personal runs. Like in my crappy little 1CC DOJ run i died twice on the stage 4 boss and almost reset but i was like eh im gonna play it out for practice, and i didnt care. Next thing I know im like oh my god this is it…
      These games are so fascinating on so many different levels. Someday…MAYBE…i’ll be at the level where I could start trying a 1 round DOJ clear, but I think I gotta work my way up. Do Ketsui. Maybe ESP Ra.De…Espguda first. I kinda love Espgaluda I have a PGM conversion cart and I should play it seriously for a 1CC….actually shmup mame with save states would be the smarter way to go. I have tried EVERYTHING to get my buddies to play stuff other than like…Street Fighter or Mark Of The Wolves and Helldivers and whatever and they’ll just play something like DOJ and be like nah dude. :)
      Thanks for responding as always. Crazy respect for your skill and thanks for being friendly! It really seems to be getting rarer these days unfortunately.

      @@hazylevels Your comment gave me some more motivation and I got my first DOJ BL clear today with B-Exy. It was an ugly survival clear with almost zero scoring, but you have to start somewhere!

    • @hazylevels
      @hazylevels  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Whoa, that's awesome 😻 huge congrats!! My first clear was a total bomb fest with B-Shotia and zero care for scoring, so absolutely no worries about that. Using Exy already puts you further than where I was at the time, haha. Also, it's just a beast of a game to learn. Nice!

      @@hazylevels Thank you! Yeah I think I could do B-Shotia too but I had set my goal on Exy, she's just really fun.

    • @letsblocking
      @letsblocking 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just did B-Shotia, cleared first try with a bunch of bombs left on a bad run. I bombed the hell of the final boss. It really is quite a bit easier in the end, but less satisfying.

      I was in the same boat when I first started.
      My advice is to do some save state practice.
      It helped me tremendously.
      (I’m still bad at chaining though)😅
