  • The Helena, now captained by her former first officer, Theresa Faisal, is commissioned to explore the newly revealed frontiers previously hidden by the Briar Patch. But not all is well in the wake of Naros' destruction of the Dyson Sphere, and a surprising discovery may lead to deadly consequences.
    The Odyssey has been lost in the Andromeda Galaxy, and information on the fate of the missing members of the R'Kag's crew is a shattered mirror of misdirection, bad information, and rumors of death. Thanks to the efforts of Commander Jorian Zen and Commander Robin Lefler, all is not lost - but something strange is brewing in the newly revealed recesses of a formerly hidden frontier that has suddenly taken center stage - and it could lead to a lethal showdown with a never-before encountered life form.

      There is a order to it where you watch part of Odyssey first then alternate episodes then watch the last episode of Odyssey. I find it easier to watch all of Odyssey except the finale then watch this then the finale.

    So many archaic thinking people on here! "For real!? Star Trek was an attempt to say that humanity will reach maturity and wisdom on the day that it begins not just to tolerate, but take a special delight in differences in ideas and differences in life forms. If we cannot learn to actually enjoy those small differences, to take a positive delight in those small differences between our own kind, here on this planet, then we do not deserve to go out into space and meet the diversity that is almost certainly out there." "If man is to survive, he will have learned to take a delight in the essential differences between men and between cultures. He will learn that differences in ideas and attitudes are a delight, part of life's exciting variety, not something to fear." Infinite Diversity Through Infinite Combinations ~Gene Roddenberry

    The woman at the end of the episode cannot seem to simply comprehend that the animal is not at the top of its food chain by saying the exact opposite of what Do had said. Dao clearly said that the electric impulses off of the tentacles are defensive in nature and are not indicative of of an apex predator. This would have to be a good example of bad writing in this scene

    ...[God] having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward
    destroyed those not showing faith. And the angels who did not keep their
    original position but forsook their own proper dwelling place, he has
    reserved with eternal bonds in dense darkness for the judgment of the
    great day. In the same manner, Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities
    around them also gave themselves over to gross sexual immorality and
    pursued unnatural fleshly desires; they are placed before us as a
    warning example by undergoing the judicial punishment of everlasting
    fire. [destruction]
    Despite this, these men too are indulging in dreams, defiling the flesh,
    despising authority, and speaking abusively of glorious ones. But when
    Miʹcha·el the archangel had a difference with the Devil and was
    disputing about Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a judgment against
    him in abusive terms...but these men are speaking abusively about all
    the things they really do not understand. And in all the things that
    they do understand by instinct like unreasoning animals, they go on
    corrupting themselves. -- Book of Jude

      Jeffrey Dean ...which they did. They fought tooth-and-nail to try and get their warp drive back online so they could just run away. They startled it, used bait, tried to mask themselves in the waste of the creatures, etc. But it all still ended with multiple hull breaches and their ship about to be destroyed. I don't really see very much more I could reasonably have expected them to do, short of allowing themselves to be destroyed to preserve the creature's life, something that (as the amoeba and dikironium creature demonstrate) is NOT required under Starfleet regulations

    I'm confused... Wasn't it just two episodes ago (ST:Hidden Frontiers) where Cory was deeply in "true love" with Jorean, and in the next episode he married and is deeply in love with the other guy, now lost in Andromeda [ST:Odyssey]...?
    No wonder there's so much homophobia in these comments: this is a really poor example of a healthy relationship to show as an example. Almost as though they *intended* to make gays look bad; e.g.2. in a previous episode their starbase was under attack, needing *everyone* to defend it, and those two were having a lover's quarrel!
    Unfortunate: I enjoy all three series (so far), and the quality is amazing for the budget. Aside from the Cory-drama being so prevalent, as to almost seem to repeatedly take center stage at exactly the wrong times, I'd've otherwise loved to share these series with pseudo-trekkie friends/fam as an example of the sorts of things a group of highly motivated creative folk can create when working together.
    Here's hoping that mellows a bit in later episodes.
    Edit after finishing the series: It mellows a bit, and Cory sorta learns his lesson. In all, a decent Star Trek series with a surprisingly smaller sprinkling of cringeworthy melodrama than I'd expected from this episode and Hidden Frontiers. This was actually pretty good. Now, back to Odyssey.

    What these series lack (and I can't believe I'm actually saying this) is character development. The Chronicles, and Odyssey are PLOT driven and the only character development we see is a gay relationship and an incestuous relationship between a mother and her son (and perhaps the development of an "Harkonnen" style evil QUEEN) . Other than that, any character development we see is minuscule. I could forgive the gratuitous and completely unnecessary careful detailing of homosexual relationships in these series if you would just bother to DEVELOP the other characters. Give us a REASON to CARE about these characters please. I'm BEGGING you.

    • @johnzitzmann6269
      @johnzitzmann6269 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Dean says: " I could forgive the gratuitous and completely unnecessary careful detailing of homosexual relationships" -- how very generous, and so very open-minded of you! No doubt you show the same scrutiny towards ST episodes belaboring the details of heterosexual relationships. Though I'm sure it'd take some digging to find one. Or two. Or three hundred.
      Your comment though seems to suggest you are being forced to watch these episodes. If not, and if they're not to your liking, may I suggest not watching them?
      Words to remember, Jeff: "To boldly go where no one has gone before ..."

    • @JeffDeanTheDeanZone
      @JeffDeanTheDeanZone 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Zitzmann 300 ST episodes carefully detailing the close physical contact of heterosexual encounters including actors NUDE from the waste up? Now THAT'S funny. There isn't a SINGLE ONE!

    • @johnzitzmann6269
      @johnzitzmann6269 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Dean in our culture, women aren't shown nude from the waste up in general media, so your comparison seems a bit skewed. Beyond that, I can recollect as recently as ST: Odyssey and as far back as ST:TOS for plenty of man/woman lovemaking scenes.
      But, again: if this bothers you so much, you're free not to watch it, aren't you? Though it does seem a bit of a shame that a series whose whole point is exploration of things unfamiliar seems lost here.

    • @JeffDeanTheDeanZone
      @JeffDeanTheDeanZone 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      John Zitzmann Name ONE episode where it depicts ACTUAL "love making" in any Star Trek episode. That is complete bull. As far as your very weak argument that women can't be shown from the waste up nude being the reason you never see risque scenes like that on star trek, that's bull too. It doesn't explain why there isn't a single Star Trek episode that shows ANY man, or cast member nude from the waste up. It's inappropriate, it's offensive, and it is DEFINITELY NOT classy.
      You can't get around it. That scene was COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE and what's MORE inappropriate is the fact that if you SAY SO you get idiots calling you a "homophobe." My objections to that scene have NOTHING to do with anything other than the scene is offensive and inappropriate and does NOT belong in ANY star trek.
      The only reason I point it out is to illustrate how this "fan fiction" group is not interested in making Star Trek fan fiction but rather to push their liberal homosexual agenda USING star trek as a back drop.
      As a fan, let me say, that's the most offensive thing of all.
      If you want to shove homosexuality down the throats of everyone CHOOSE ANOTHER GENRE as your backdrop, don't claim to be devoted fans making fan fiction.
      If you just want to put two half naked guys on camera making out, DO THAT, but don't use a Star Trek setting and call it "fan fiction" it's nauseating.

    • @johnzitzmann6269
      @johnzitzmann6269 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Dean : first off, calm down.
      Second: I don't recall a single "gay sex scene" in this episode; only the initial wedding scene. Can you provide a time mark? If you're not commenting on this particular episode, then why are you not commenting on the thread for the episode you're referring to? It's rather confusing.
      Third: Of the fan shows, there was at least one sex scene (or "aftermath" if you will) with Caecus and Seram. Man and woman. Wanna talk the movies? Or STTOS, STTNG, STDS9, etc etc? Lots and lots of man & woman sex scenes. The fact that you aren't acknowledging them as anything but background normal, but get so upset about a single scene with two men (I'm going to assume you mean ST: Odyssey episode 1) as some agenda being pushed and being "COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE"? Speaks for itself.
      Fourth: Please note I have not called you a homophobe; but, you have called me an idiot. Rudeness and name-calling isn't ever appreciated, so this is my last message to you.
      Fifth & final: again, if this bothers you so much, don't watch it. Best of luck.

      Chris Ezell That has to be one of the stupidest comments I have heard! Have you even seen ST? There are many references to God in TOS, even Adonis. TNG also refers to God. Many of the movies have a reference to God. DS9 makes references to various deities, esp. the Prophets. Odyssey has the Prophets in the (specifically S03E03.) You might need to look at the episodes again. There was some implied sex in TOS, but nothing explicit. Yes, they are known for the first interracial kiss, but that ain't sex. *rolls eyes* Also, I had rather believe. When I die and if I am right, I am sweet. Would be a better series if they could keep all the gay stuff out of New frontiers, Odyssey, and this one. What this type of a narrative seems like they're only trying to cater to a 1% rather than the 90s that would actually back this type of a thing. Mostly stories okay if they can keep all the homosexual stuff and their relationships out of the picture they probably have a larger fan base for the film. technically, being gay is an animal thing, not just a human thing, but there is literally no evidence to suggest that klingons would not be gay. What with the species being fictional and all.
      Within the confines of the species culture and traditions as laid out within the cananical books and film/tv, however, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that klingons would in fact support any marriage between any combination of gender so long as those involved were honourable. Much more concern for them regarding whether or not the relationship was true than who was involved in it.
      Oh, and there's plenty of evidence within the canon for inter-species mating and marriage within the Empire too.
