Mr. Matt, some of this we talked about in the past.
Excellent information. As to what you did in this video, the student is the greatest teacher, and the teacher the greatest student.
To learn, retain, and to teach is a great blessing. Excellent job sir...

@@Brian2bears thank you mr Brian. This is all good information presented as well as I can. I always try to remain a student. Once you quit learning, you quit growing.

You blew my mind at 4 minutes. That's genius. A lot of the way I swing an axe is from Ben Scott's videos and his small amount of timbersports experience at the time of me learning how to swing. You can't be anymore right. There's so much that can be implemented into doing real world work with an axe. Even just splitting. Accuracy is so much easier when the axe is going straight up and straight down.
I'm a little scared to use all of my body doing underhand. Lower back injury. Any thoughts on common timbersports injuries? I defintely see a lot going on with backs in most swings. I've heard some say the back should look like you're squatting to stay safe. But I've seen a ton of curl in some swings.
Very good to see you post man. I honestly would love to see timbersports pros do the one tree challenge haha. I think the difference between me and a lot of the guys that do timbersports and regular axe work is the axe head speed and ability to swing like that over and over. I'd love to see how much stamina these guys have in that respect since a lot of what they train for is sprinting with an axe.

@@ethicalaxe so I’ve watched a lot of competition footage and payed attention to back position at the end of swings. There are a lot of different styles out there. Some involve the back more than others. I think pushing to see what is most comfortable is key.
I also have some permanent back damage that regularly causes me pain. Along with shoulder issues (that require surgery to fix) that I fight through as well. I’m just stubborn about it and refuse to let my injuries stop me. Admittedly, I should probably listen to the pain more often, but I usually just ignore it until it puts me down for a few days 😂
And I’ve trained for an entire day with guys before, and we’ve cut dozens of hardwood blocks, along with a bunch of sawing as well. Training is typically slow and focused on form. At a slow pace, these guys can cut all day with a full size training axe.
Thanks for watching man! I’m just starting to get back into filming again after taking a long break from it. I’ll try to share some more pointers down the road when I get a better understanding of it.

@@MattKeevil it feels weird to change everything up at first, but once you get comfortable doing it, it will dramatically increase how much wood you cut per swing.
