Current underhand progress.

@bluegrassoutdoors @Brian2bears Here’s a quick look at my current underhand abilities. Still have much to improve. Cutting hardwoods as usual. Made a switch to a shorter handle recently and it immediately improved my accuracy, power and speed.
Great video I can't wait to get out and try out some of these ideas!
@@MattKeevil it feels weird to change everything up at first, but once you get comfortable doing it, it will dramatically increase how much wood you cut per swing.
Excellent information and very clearly explained. Thanks for sharing. Have a great Christmas mate!
@@brettbrown9814 thanks for watching Brett! Merry Christmas!
Another good video 🪓 Merry Christmas to you and your family, Matt 🙏 I’m enjoying the content, as others are!
@@bluegrassoutdoors thank you sir! I saw that you got yourself an Adler? I have your video in my watch list. I’ll be watching it here in a bit. Merry Christmas!
You blew my mind at 4 minutes. That's genius. A lot of the way I swing an axe is from Ben Scott's videos and his small amount of timbersports experience at the time of me learning how to swing. You can't be anymore right. There's so much that can be implemented into doing real world work with an axe. Even just splitting. Accuracy is so much easier when the axe is going straight up and straight down. I'm a little scared to use all of my body doing underhand. Lower back injury. Any thoughts on common timbersports injuries? I defintely see a lot going on with backs in most swings. I've heard some say the back should look like you're squatting to stay safe. But I've seen a ton of curl in some swings. Very good to see you post man. I honestly would love to see timbersports pros do the one tree challenge haha. I think the difference between me and a lot of the guys that do timbersports and regular axe work is the axe head speed and ability to swing like that over and over. I'd love to see how much stamina these guys have in that respect since a lot of what they train for is sprinting with an axe.
@@ethicalaxe so I’ve watched a lot of competition footage and payed attention to back position at the end of swings. There are a lot of different styles out there. Some involve the back more than others. I think pushing to see what is most comfortable is key. I also have some permanent back damage that regularly causes me pain. Along with shoulder issues (that require surgery to fix) that I fight through as well. I’m just stubborn about it and refuse to let my injuries stop me. Admittedly, I should probably listen to the pain more often, but I usually just ignore it until it puts me down for a few days 😂 And I’ve trained for an entire day with guys before, and we’ve cut dozens of hardwood blocks, along with a bunch of sawing as well. Training is typically slow and focused on form. At a slow pace, these guys can cut all day with a full size training axe. Thanks for watching man! I’m just starting to get back into filming again after taking a long break from it. I’ll try to share some more pointers down the road when I get a better understanding of it.
Great info, I appreciate you showing it on the block too. Looks like your training is going well. Thanks for this. Merry Christmas!
@@Codi_Clapper glad you enjoyed it. Tried to present it as well as I can. It’s difficult to share this stuff without being in person.
Great to see you again
Mr. Matt, some of this we talked about in the past. Excellent information. As to what you did in this video, the student is the greatest teacher, and the teacher the greatest student. To learn, retain, and to teach is a great blessing. Excellent job sir...
@@Brian2bears thank you mr Brian. This is all good information presented as well as I can. I always try to remain a student. Once you quit learning, you quit growing.
Great video brother!! ❤❤
Great info!

@@kurts64 this is a tui. It’s got a thicker grind on it. Around 17-18 degrees if I remember right.
Awesome work Matt! Very enjoyable.
@@brettbrown9814 thank you Brett!
The sound is amazing! Strong work!
@@Casterman2 much appreciated!
Mr. Matthew...absolutely amazing. Massive skillset and conditioning sir...
Plenty of practice logs lined up, and still got that wild dog...
@@Brian2bears yes sir. Making improvements. Trying to add a bit more speed and power this winter. And yes, that dog is still just as hyper as always lol he adjusted to neighborhood life well though. Loves the neighbors dogs.
Wuuuut! He's back!
@@kurts64 just a quick video for now. More to come 😎
@MatthewAmsbaugh love it mate, good to see!
This guy looks familiar. Big progress, Matt 🪓👍 your speed looks to be on the pro level now. Good to see you again. I hope you and the family have been blessed!
@@bluegrassoutdoors thank you sir! “Hit it hard and often” is the goal! Family is doing great! Bought a new house and we joined a new church that’s a great fit for us. We are very blessed. Hope you and your family are doing well too!
First! Good to see you back and with the club hand beast mode too!
@@MattKeevil I keep going back and forth on slide vs club. Can’t just pick one 😂 I’ll try to get a few more vids up with the other events soon.
