I’m sure the sand is killing that bearing but if arrma would have listened they could have put a sealed / shielded bearing in there knowing it’s collected dirt there in the past to stop the failure 🤷🏻♂️but good thing is we know and it’s one more item to replace before we run are RTR outcast4s ( ready to rebuild) 👍👍
I doubt that Arrma has any plan to upgrade the bearings they purchase, ..they obviously sourced those bearings from whoever they buy them from with the intent to get them as cheap as possible to keep their costs down and then just tell the customer.. "we dont recommend the vehicle be run in a dusty environment" and will not warranty it . I personally will never buy an RC I have seen have issues and think to myself.. "well I'll just replace the motor bearing before running a BRAND NEW.. RC" .. they wont get my money if they arent willing to improve their product.. they could just raise the price by 10 bucks and cover the cost for good motor bearings

I've had to replace the pinion side bearing in 2 separate 3200 kv motors so far. But have been running 4 3200 kv motors for almost 2 yrs. I changed them right over to the TRB rc bearings. Haven't had any issues since. But whenever I'm doing maintenance it always something I check for now. Great video!! 💯
I put some green slime on the bottom of the spur gear case before sliding back into the chassis, this seems to stop grit getting behind, it also makes it easier to take out too.
One thing I've done to help with the sand in the motors on those BLX vehicles is put high heat tape over the holes on the motor that aren't being used. That transmission, like you said, allows a lot of debris into that area in general.

Great vid brother thank you. My Kraton just took a crap on me during a bash session. I pulled the motor and was wondering, should that motor shaft spin? If it doesn't spin does that mean that bearing is broke?
Just keep in mind based upon my answer I have no idea what kraton you talking about because of the way TH-cam shows me your comment most of the time I'm using my cell phone so if it's the 6s yes the motor is definitely supposed to spin if it's the 4S same thing you may have gotten contaminants somehow inside or you had a motor bearing failure could have also had a rotor failure but that's more rare
When I ordered a blx Granite for one of my kids I also ordered a ceramic sealed bearing. Plastic still on the body and bulled the motor and changed the motor bearings. I think the 4s line is too heavy and powerful for the clutch plate design and the cheap aluminum used!!!!! Someone needs to make a steal set of clutch plates!!!!!
Awesome video mate , thanks so much for showing us how to fix it. I love Arrma but this isn't good enough on thir behalf especially when they know about it. Just curious have Arrma/Horizon approached or spoken to you about this issue and said anything about fixing it? Keep up the great work loving the vids..
I'm sorry about the bearing issue as I don't think there is any hope for this issue at the moment, I don't catch all the tidbits of information from arrma but I have a decent pool of people that tell what they can, and yes I indeed am worried about this new 4s line just little things that don't seem to have been thought through and then rushed through testing on their end, 2 of the most obvious examples are the drive shift I think on the wheels they are hitting the shock springs might not be a issue up front but I'm willing to guess it will cause issues down the road, at least spring issues, and who knows mabey dive shaft issues, there is another first run sign that leaves marks on place it shouldn't but I am not remembering it at moment um I think u pointed it out as well, but agin It might be nothing to worry about, my deeper worry is that production model will have the same careless thought put into them, just because there is a paper that says it will work does not mean, it will. Ok agin I'm sorry about the motor bearing it in my opinion is just another troubling sign that arrma is not the kind of company that they once were, I just don't think spectrum is the thing they should go with and I to almost always switch out motors and speed control often but not always I switch my radio and receiver out to a Dumbo to be honest, I also agree, when they pulled the blx systems from their rigs they lost a big support piece of their business, heck I'm still buying blx systems as often as possible
Ironic there's an advert for an arrma before your video with them saying designed to be bashed and hooning the thing around. Then the reality of watching your vids and seeing what the actual experience is like. It's kinda like ready meals or getting fast food, the marketing looks great, but then you get it home and have to eat it.
I'll tell you granted this may be too early but I have had a ton of packs through this thing I would definitely not have a problem laying down the cash or at least saving up for it

Ya I hear a guy, that's exactly why i buying a blx esc and motor for my granite v3, and not the spectrum one. Don't get me wrong I like there batteries and the chargers, but ive seen a decrease in quality from the "toughest" name in the rc game

Yeah okay, you've been somewhat rough, but no rougher than is reasonable. I hesitate to even class it as an "accellerated usage" type deal because many buyers will do exactly (if not more of) the same type of driving you've been doing & expect their BLOODY EXPENSIVE NEW RC to handle it better than this.! It's not looking good I fear. All of this happened quick.! Also, Spectrum gear SUCKS HARD.! There's not one piece of Spectrum left in any of my 3 Arrmas. The shortest was an ESC at 1 week & the longest was a motor at around 8 months... (got sick of rebuilding them & chucked them in the spares motor box, I've had better from a £15 Surpass motor). Unless you count the radio gear, that's all still good... Because it's been in a box for a couple of years after being ripped out immediately. Arrma need to sell all their RCs as rollers the way Hobao do & give us the choice of electronics... It won't be Spectrum.! I've had my 4s for almost 4 years. Been changed from a outcast to a kraton. I've had it with the clutch system (on 4s only). The rear side of the clutch is a problem!!!!. Weather you buy a replacement set of clutch plates . Out of center and the way it cracks and falls apart I've been using the inner racer part of a old bad bearing I take 2 apart just for the inner racer. I put 2 of the inner racer parts and slid it over the back end of the slipper clutch and over time it still cracks and falls apart. Twice I ordered new clutch plates and the came bent amain sent me new clutch plates no problem. WHY?🤦♂️ 4s is to heavy and powerful for the 4s line!!!! Clutch plate is too weak(cheap aluminum no good!!!!) Max 5200mAh to 6000 mAh to keep weight down.
No problem 👍 I know Horizon now has a metal cap on it. Over time it might crack and fall apart when taken apart for bearing maintenance. Maybe not. The back clutch plate.
It’s all about cost. They won’t put a high quality bearing in there because it cost to much. On top of that most people won’t be changing it they will replace the motor. So they get more sales that way. Spektrum gear is over priced garbage. But the key here is to replace that bearing before it fails and it will be much easier and no down time. Lastly, that was way to much loctite on that pinion grub screw!!! Just a dab on the first two threads is all that is needed.
@@rcguygarage automotive yes I agree. But with these small screws it doesn’t take much. Many people don’t realize the need for heat either. Glob on the loctite and then use subpar drivers and stripped screw and/or broken driver tip.
Remove single screw underneath chassis that's attached to the red block between the center spine and the motor mount, remove one side Tower to Tower brace, swing away, compress drive shaft to remove, swing rear battery stop to remove red block and slides towards battery tray area, pull up center tab (looks like half of a butterfly wing) gently use some type of a pry bar to push module towards ESC or center spine area work left to right gently and that will pull the entire module out the only thing you may have to do is remove the one screw that is attached to the motor wires retainer just to give slight bit more clearance disconnect motor and fan wires. Hopefully that helps

This module was said to be better sealed on the box so that needed to be seen before doing my modification to that area of the chassis 👍
@@rcguygarage Ah ya good point, well it failed the test 🤣
Bit of a bummer on the same bearing issues still some Q.C issues going on. Still over all looked a fun truck to rip.
Im in love with my Rival mt10 ,light as a feather ...its even surpass my notorious 6s full m2c in skatepark lmao
Glad I have a spare 3200kv for my vorteks.
I have a 7075 one ready 😳😜
Awesome video mate , thanks so much for showing us how to fix it. I love Arrma but this isn't good enough on thir behalf especially when they know about it. Just curious have Arrma/Horizon approached or spoken to you about this issue and said anything about fixing it?
Keep up the great work loving the vids..
Yes they have the updated part I believe in it's way now as a mysterious tracking number appeared in my mailbox
Gread vid and info man learned alot.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 RIGHT
This is why I really like ur chan cause of the info u put out 👍👍👊🏻👊🏻pros and cons .
I really want to get this 4s , just really strapped rite now ..
I'll tell you granted this may be too early but I have had a ton of packs through this thing I would definitely not have a problem laying down the cash or at least saving up for it
@@rcguygarage Thanks for the info on this truck 👍👍👊🏻👊🏻, I have been trying to save up for the last purchase of the year for me and it’s perfect that it’s 4s just cause I think 4s RCs are the best n
Just perfect for power and the weight as well .. But anyway I try to buy 4h RCs a year … this year has been tough for me ,been having a really hard time getting materials for jobs .. is what it is… So great info on this and it will be my 4th truck for 2022 .. One more thing I just finally finished tekno mt 410 and wanted to no if u have one or ever had one ??? See this is why I don’t have a chan cause I just babble and babble …. And don’t change u or ur vids 👍👍👊🏻👊🏻 oh ya Moorhead is jellies on ur JAG lmao … keep on keepin my friend
Guy, now I'm worried 😟, I've ordered one of the outcast, Whats up with Arma and there bearings, had a similar problem with my Talion , but it was the wheel bearings that fell apart before I got through my first pak..... wth... but at least they warranted them.👌 🤞 👍👍👍 thanks for the warning, gonna have to keep an eye on bearings when I get her.👍👍👊💯
Arrma is definitely making me lean toward Traxxas!
that can happen but ill tell you that this truck RIPS
The vendetta bearings come with rubber sealed front bearings made in vietnam
Now THAT'S good to know this!!!👍💯
Great content rc guy, keep up the good hard work, hope you have the kinks worked out . Have a great holliday weekend later guy 👌👌👍👍😎😎
WAY TOO MANY COMMENTS buried by TH-cam. No notification on this one just seeing now!!!!
Well and truly frazzled 😂🤠
Cool toys for sure. Enjoy mine.
Same bearing got roasted on my kraton 4s v2 the other day on the 3rd trip out.
I’m a day late and a dollar short watching this video. I enjoy learning about motor repair but at the same time I wonder about the warranty on these things. Will Arrma/Horizon Hobby not replace the motor?
They would have no questions asked. This is a pre-production truck and I needed it fixed now not in a few days👍💯
@@rcguygarage I totally forgot about the pre production factor. They definitely sent the truck to be tested by the right man!
I save everything. The minute ya throw it away ya need it
I found the gear mesh straight out of the Box seems a little tight you think that could be the reason why that bearing goes? Do u ever check on new car before u run it 😆 ?
Sometimes I do but mostly I don't. I'm just in to run what is put in my hands and just repair what fails if anything. 👍💯
Ya I hear a guy, that's exactly why i buying a blx esc and motor for my granite v3, and not the spectrum one. Don't get me wrong I like there batteries and the chargers, but ive seen a decrease in quality from the "toughest" name in the rc game
3:26: "I feel that a hole is better than a slot". Is this still about RC? ;p
Shhh the TH-cam gods will sniff you out
Maybe a rock got jammed up in the out drive snatching that metal band
You're definitely onto something there. 👍💯
Genius
?
i thought i got lucky with my motor but no.. 😂 after 1 YEAR it died! pretty impressive but it still broke got some bearings off eaby and they are sooo good
i forgot to say PLS change your pinion gear to hardened steel i haven't yet 😂 but ive stripped mine 3 times when that motor mount bends that gear destroyeds the pinion gear i had to get a new speer gear :( it was 30$ the hot racing one it's so good and my motor that came with the v1 kraton 4s the back blew off 😂 so my rc is running on supper glue been like that for 4 months i really need a new motor but the price for one 😭😭😭 so expensive when you collect money from birthdays hahhaha
Aint the motors like less then 80 bucks?
@@51-FS yeah some where around that price i found a good deal for 60$
Yeah rc stuff is so cheap.
I'm running a 1900kv in my arrma senton 550 mega...... with a 130amp esc
@@51-FS OMG 4s or 6s 😂 must be a beast
The problem is the power module and the dust its creating.
Yes that has been remedied 👍💯
Stay safe RC Guy you awesome Guy you, as always, best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️.!
i like the 2050kv OG motor
Yes 👍💯
fire fixes everything haha almost as good as duct tape
My bearing was stuck inside
Well I see what am going have do is take this motor out and put in hobbywing 2400kv that I got.
Hopefully these are just pre release problems
That's what Arrma is saying in communications 👍💯
I've had my 4s for almost 4 years. Been changed from a outcast to a kraton. I've had it with the clutch system (on 4s only). The rear side of the clutch is a problem!!!!. Weather you buy a replacement set of clutch plates . Out of center and the way it cracks and falls apart
I've been using the inner racer part of a old bad bearing I take 2 apart just for the inner racer. I put 2 of the inner racer parts and slid it over the back end of the slipper clutch and over time it still cracks and falls apart. Twice I ordered new clutch plates and the came bent amain sent me new clutch plates no problem.
WHY?🤦♂️
4s is to heavy and powerful for the 4s line!!!! Clutch plate is too weak(cheap aluminum no good!!!!)
Max 5200mAh to 6000 mAh to keep weight down.
See this comment TH-cam HID I'm just seeing it now. No notifications
No problem 👍
I know Horizon now has a metal cap on it. Over time it might crack and fall apart when taken apart for bearing maintenance. Maybe not.
The back clutch plate.
I'm here to be flagged. Awesome video.
I've found with the loctite I use I've had good luck using it the way I have for years with automotive applications as well👍
@@rcguygarage automotive yes I agree. But with these small screws it doesn’t take much. Many people don’t realize the need for heat either. Glob on the loctite and then use subpar drivers and stripped screw and/or broken driver tip.
they should use hobbywing instead,i have no problem at all with those. spectrum is junk.
Exact same thing just happened to me on my 2 day old ARRMA mojave 4s. Exact same motor as yours. Unacceptable and truly infuriating
How did you take the trans out, the manuals from armma are complete usless and don't explain anything, and there'd litterly 0 videos
You just gave me an idea maybe I should do a video. 😂🤣
@@rcguygarage that would be awesome, the 4s Outcast I have is the v2 and with a 6s firma system and surpass motor, I've removed everything I can to get it out as the differential needs work but I can't get it to budge
@@calvinwolf7107 thought about asking a Facebook group that specializes in this particular vehicle because I know there are plenty of those and you could get your answer ASAP normally
There's been a few and that description actually sounds like it'll help, at least more than the manual did 😅
Sir this video can affect Arrma's sales 🥺
The motor is $50. Not worth the effort but appreciate the content.
Why go thru that? $25 gets ya a new Chinese 2200kv 40xx/42xx....used em for years. If you fry them, get another.
Because it's a repair video some people would like to see it done and it's informational. Not everything is bang boom smash crash explosions sometimes it's real world stuff 👍💯😜
Arrma again Junk out the box. My kraton 1/5 8s exb roller needed work. Out the box
Looks like that are still making junk.
Spectrum motors are junk. Buy a hobbystar motor and call it a day.
you gave the motor 16 to 17% more abuse than ARRMA research & development
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
