  • This video shows how to make a tasty snack mangalore buns. they can be served either at breakfast or as a teatime snack.
    Ingredients
    Wheat flour/Atta 1 cup
    Jaggery powder 1/2 cup + 4 tsp
    Curd 2 tsp
    Ghee 1 tspCumin seeds /jeera 1 tsp
    baking powder 1/8 tsp
    Ripe Banana 1
    Oil for frying

    Amma your videos are always fascinating. You brought back my childhood memories of Mangalore buns. My parents are from Udupi. I miss my native, the people, food and the nature. Through your video I think I will be able to prepare Mangalore buns and get nostalgic.

    I too went to Mangalore,Udupi recently.had lovely buns made out of maida in the railway station and at some hotels too.they charge 25rs/buns.i too tried St home using 50% wheat flour n 50% maida.came out well.i used brown sugar instead of jaggery.thanks for the recipe mam

    Mouthwatering special poories! I can only look and enjoy ! I remember Ma'am last year you had gone to udipi for a wedding and stayed at Udupi Kediyoor Hotel. You took us on a lovely kitchen tour and I remember them making these buns for you . I was new to your channel those days and I watched with a lot of interest.

    Thank you for sharing this favourite dish of mine. I feel thrilled when you share recipes from my home city Mangalore. First Neer Dosa and now Mangalore Buns.
    We use Sugar instead of Jaggery and use Mysore Banana(medium sized specific type). Also in Mangalore the same dishes are cooked with variation by different communities like Kannada Brahmins, Tulu Shetty or Konkanis.

      Gita's Kitchen we use Banana and very little sugar for buns. As it is served with chutney and sometimes spinach daal, it’s made more savoury with hint of sweetness mostly coming from bananas. Sugar is used just a pinch. Jaggery Buns is more of Havyak Brahmin variety.

    Instead of baking powder can I use ENO blue packet. Pl confirm.
    I always do yr Batchelor rasam regularly. All love that rasam ad even the aroma of it will be delicious. Tk u.

    Awesome buns but I have some confusion when dough is ready then for format keep it in fridge or not or second no can I use any flour instead of wheat flour

      You have to keep outside for fermentation.. You can try with maida and atta combination too

    Here in Mangalore, people use Sugar instead of jaggery. Both are good, but will taste different. Anyway nice to know you like our Mangalore buns

    Really gooddie buns, looks tasty n mouth watering. I have mixed the
    ingrediants, i have 1/4 measuring spoon, don't have 1/8'th measuring spoon, so added two pinch of BP.Now you tell me
    will the dough rise? or will it not, i have closed n kept to be made tomorrow morning.
    Suppose, it does not rise how will the poori be?
    Quite confused.

      🙏really those 'Mangalore buns'(i call it "soft chapathi") came sooper👌👌, both my hub n daughter emptied leaving behind only 2 nos for taste.
      1.the dough raised.
      2super taste😍😍
      3.Easy to make n all bloomed like puris.
      4.only one doubt, again
      I have mixed to make for tomorrow, daily is it good for the tummy if i add BP.
      b.cause my daughter does not eat bananas she is emptying the( s.chap) i am making. PLEASE REPLY🙏
