"It's not one of those cold buns that you identify with." 😅 I've never identified with a bun, but there is a Disney short called Bao, and this lady makes a child out of a dumpling. She loves and cares for her dumpling son until he leaves home (and her) with his human lover, and she responds by going into a rage and eating him. I identify more with a house cat than a dumpling. Dumplings are mighty tasty though. 😋 You may identify something as being cold or hot, or maybe you're more familiar with a cold or hot dumpling, but identifying *with* is to feel like you're also that thing and/or can relate to it. This recipe is delicious, and I also needed the laughter because sometimes I do feel like a fluffy dumpling.
Hey, sprinkling a bit of flour is the best option but if you don't prefer please give it a proper rest, you can also freeze it for 20 to 25 minutes, if it still doesn't work out, you can add some breadcrumbs.
As a Mangalorean, I approve this video with all my heart & soul 🤗 (Here buns is served with coconut chutney & sambar, no aaloo ki sabzi)

My dough is quite wet. How to get it to dry without adding too much flour?

These look lovely, but I'd call them doughnuts rather than buns.
It's not Mangalore banana. It's grown all over Kerala -- called Nendran here. And considered a great breakfast food.
