Fishing plunge pools on small headwater streams is my favorite kind of fishing. The streams and strategies you describe are pretty similar to the headwater streams in the Smokies.

Not much having to "read" the water here! None of those complex large stream currents and eddies. Just having to be quiet and sneaky while putting the fly over likely looking water is a refreshing experience for sure! Hard to beat the location and scenery too!

Good to see you catch gila trout ! Love going down south to catch them . Lake Robert’s has some bigger gila trout . I saw a 15”+ in whitewater creek back in February!

Seems real similar to the high mountain brook trout. Which are soooo much fun. Good job bud

Exactly! Fill in the blank for any high elevation trout species! They will act in very similar ways!

I hit subscribe the second he caught the first one and kept the netted fish in the water. Scoop it leave it… rest it release it. Perfect.

I want to fish for Gila trout now. I have the smaller version of your fishpond backpack and how do you access your stuff from your backpack on the river. I haven’t found a good system yet.

Running around with a camera has slowed me way down.. So when I need to get back there it is a whole process of taking it off and rummaging around.. I haven't found a good process either unfortunately haha

They are not a sponsor... They just gave me the rods. So when I say this, I mean it. I LOVE THEM. Nicest rods I've ever owned.
