I just recently got out of the hospital for a burst appendix after watching the nurses see how they took care of me after being there for a month I decided that I'm going to pursue the LPN I specifically want to be in the ICU with both adults and children the goal is to become a full on nurse!!

Great video girl! I myself am a LPN. Passed the NCLEX March 2021. I am currently a pediatric homecare nurse. I also have brief history working in a hospital as a psych nurse and pediatric long term care in a facility. I just recently applied for an overnight, Med surg unit position at one of the local hospitals. Although, I am waiting to hear back, I came here to get some insight. Thanks for actually showing what you were able to.

I was in school for RN and just wanted to tell you this is EXACTLY what we did in clinicals. Please do research and ask rn's and lpn's around your area what they think, what differences are etc. From how I see it, LPN's do a lot of the same hands on stuff as RN, but RN has a LOT more responsibility in general & also sees over LPN's. Look up admission requirements of each/ cost, etc. Good luck to you whatever you choose :)

Great video! Instantly subscribed! Question when your scanning the meds individually is that you signing them out?? Been a nurse for years but no hospital experience the pay is so low out here for lpns in hospitals and we’re treated more as techs(no offense to techs at all) than nurses so I’ve never worked in one. Mostly done LTC or assisted living jobs so I’m used to popping pills and signing out on the computer not scanning them/signing off…This video was a real insight into hospital/meds urge nursing thank you!!!

    • @IAMHER_NurseTee

When going into any facility or hospital go in as a traveler or prn that’s how your going to make the money you deserve in settings like this sad to say & although it’s a really good learning environment but it’s true. 🩺🦋🤞🏼

Im in LPN school, right.. and so I’m so geeked about LPNs going back intot the hospital. As an LPN on a MedSurg Floor, how different or alike does your shift look from the Floor RN? People love to say how different our scopes are but I don’t believe the things LPNs are restricted and/or limited from doing come up often when on a unit like MedSurg. What has been your experience? Loved the video btw!

    • @IAMHER_NurseTee

That’s so true there are just a few things we aren’t to do without the RN for example the initial assessments and push certain medications maybe there are a few others I just haven’t crossed that path yet. And we do team nursing here so usually I’m paired with a RN. I haven’t seen much of a difference yet minus those things 🩺

Okay, when I say you uploaded this video at the right time. YOU UPLOAD THIS VIDEO AT THE RIGHT TIME. I graduated from my LPN program in August and passed my nclex earlier this month. I applied to a hospital in my area and I have the option of working on either a Telemetry, Med Surg, LTC/ rehab or Acute Care unit. Personally I think Med Surg would be the best fit for me because I still don’t know EKGs. My clinical experience due to COVID has been minimal. So do you recommend I start on day shift or night shift? Also which units would you recommend for a new grad with only 1 month clinicals. Thank you so much

Update: I now work night shift on the med surg unit. For about a month now I’ve learned so many skills already and the pay is pretty good. I’m so glad you recommended nights because days would’ve been too much for me.

I think it depends on the setting your wanting to be in but I’ll tell you now if you go staff as a lpn in hospital they want pay as much if your travel of course but if that’s your end goal start there to get the experience and maybe get a prn job else where that way you already got your foot in the door.

Don’t say that! U know way more than u think! I have 5 weeks left of my lvn program. Im a cna. Some of the best MAs in my program who have been doing this work for 10+ years are barely squeaking by academically. But when they are on the floor they are on fire, know way more than people like me who are doing well academically. Had in friend in the program who had absolutely no experience, worked at Walmart and was top of our class, would have been the best nurse, but passed away unexpectedly. All u need is God and to hush your worst enemy: yourself. Of course I gotta take my own advice lol. I have the same issue, listening to my own little negative voice inside. But deep down I know with the Lord on my side I will be ok. You can do this! ❤️🙏
