Thanks for helping us find an eshakti replacement!! I’m really excited for these! Seeing so many people losing their money in this situation is disheartening. I hope we find another company to continue where eShatki left off.
I guess this is why I haven't gotten any emails from eShakti in a while. Lol. I'll have to check this place out. Although I've been checking out Holy clothing lately. They're not customizable like this, but they do cater to plus gals and I've been liking their chemises in their wide array of colors. And they're so soft! Plus, I'm a sucker for Renny and Medieval styles.

With the purple, could you make an inset for the neck, like a dickie, and maybe use the same fabric to lengthen the arms and reattached the cuffs on the bottom of the sleeve?
Thanks for the review and bringing attention to this new company. It seems they have either updated the pleated black dress to have inseam pockets or they messed yours up. The details on the dress below the customization section lists, "This garment has Inseam Pocket," and, "Number of Pockets: 2." Sad for you that it's not on yours though.
I just found your channel and I am in love with that black jumper. Would you say that the color representations were pretty accurate? I love your points and comments in the review. I also subscribed.
ooooh I see their menswear section...I wonder if they could make one of those to fit an AFAB body. I always have trouble upgrading my style because I'm not feminine and men's shirts tend to have trouble with my chest
These are super cute! With the purple one that's too big you could maybe detach the skirt part and then cut up the back following the lines of the neckline so you have kinda princess seams. Them reatatch the skirt bit.

I came across this video by chance. I am so happy to hear that you are a "dress," wearer. I have been a "girly girl as far back as 9-10 yrs old" pants never felt comfy as my waist vs hips never were the size I bought i had to buy per hip fit and take 2-3 sizes smaller for waist with how my body developed, 2-3 inch heels helped my lower back feel balanced out. In the medical field(ophthalmology field)my bosses always told me to get nursing shoes or sneakers and I told them why I wore what I did and their reply was,"as long as you can run when needed" they didn't care. For my own girly feel, I always wore a garter and stockings, no, they had gone out of fashion before my generation, born in 63. The feel it gives a young woman was empowering without having to wear low cut shirts or mini mini dresses. I was always in control of my sexual development. I became disabled in 2009 and have come back to sewing and utilizing many donated clothing too small or too big and set up up cycling to design my own dresses and skirts. I fluctuate monthly up and down 7lbs from meds and still want my 5 foot 3 inch(and shrinking) body at 225 is very hard on my pain level. So, thank you for your insights, advice, sharing of knowledge, from a kindred being. I will look for you daily.

G'day Rebecca, I love the purple dress as I have a huge soft spot for purple and the style is very similar to that of the dresses mum and I made for my brother and sister-in-law's bridesmaids way back in 1989. 😊 I'm not sure what you call it, but we have a long sleeve, high roll neck t-shirt we call a "skivvie",,, one of those in a Winter White, or off white/cream would look lovely under the square neckline. I don't think that the purple dress is a no no for winter. Most of my sleeves are 3/4 length. That way I can wear them all year long. It gets to be -20 in winter and 115+ in.the summer. I do layers for warmth. Try a scarf with the purple dress. The big neck line isn't an issue for me but then I suffer from hot flashes.
I am having a clothing crisis. Earlier this year, I finally found a clothing seller that sold cute dresses in my (plus) size, only to receive them and see that half the seems inside the dresses were unfinished. I tried to wash one of them anyway, and naturally, those seams shredded in the washing machine. The company took the dresses back and refunded me, but I was so sad because the dresses were so cute. I’ve been trying to sew my own dress but I struggle to find time to sew and patterns that actually fit my size. I’ve been living in the same pair of jeans for six months but I know I’ve got to do something about this! (I do wear scrubs to work).

You could solve the issues with the purple dress being a bit plain and not matching a lot of your other things by doing some embroidery on it! That would make it more interesting and match the rest of your wardrobe better. I had noticed that black pinny in your other videos a couple of times and thought it was really pretty 😁.
Still would be nice to have a choice for custom-made denim skirts. Was planning to order a couple from eShakti. This company really has only one denim skirt and the style is so-so.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! We've added a few new Denim Skirts in our recent collections! You can also get any of our skirts customized in a Denim Fabric ✌🏻We can’t wait for you to try us out!
@@seamsfriendly Thank you! I'm more interested in maxi skirts, though; the denim skirts you added are shorts and midis. Us older women need options, too!
I didn't hear anything about eshakti.. and I was just on their site a few days ago. Kinda glad I waited on ordering anything. I just went and looked.. the website is up. Is there a chance they sold/reorganized since you last checked? It's odd they'd leave the website up, right? I'm also browsing the sewfriendly site, while listening.. popping back and forth. The height drop down's tallest measurement is 5'7" and above.. I'm 6'2". For me, I think they'd need to add another category.. extra tall. 7" is a big span for proportioning. Peel and stick velcro will help with stuff dropping out of that chest pocket. It's cheap and replaceable.
Eshakti lets you add to cart, but not complete a transaction. And when you do the custom sizes for SeamsFriendly, it's via email, so you don't have to worry about a drop-down (but that is weird that it only goes to 5'7"!)
Thanks for checking us out! We really appreciate your feedback on our size options. We’re always looking to improve, and having an “extra tall” category is a great suggestion. You can select the 'Custom Height' option, and we'll email you to get your exact measurements, and tailor-make the styles accordingly. If you have any more questions about sizing, customization, or anything else, just let us know. We can’t wait for you to try us out!
My employer had to file for bankruptcy in 2020. It totally sucks to be an insider, to see bills / obligations to pay, that you want to pay, but just don’t have the money to pay. And sometimes the downhill slope is fast and unrecoverable.
The black jumper dress made me think of this, because I want to make one for myself and just about fainted at the price of buying it. If you go to fabric wholesale direct you can get that fabric for $4.99 a yard, not kidding, actual stuff not polyester. You can make that dress in less than a day. They have this thing that the more yards that you buy the cheaper it costs, if you buy 10 yards they take 10% off your whole purchase, if you buy 20 yards they take 20% off, if you buy 30 yd 30% off. The more stuff you buy from them the less you have to pay. So if you wanted to make all of the dresses that she showed you would even pay less. I'm not trying to advertise the website I'm just trying to tell you where I go to get things. And these dresses are so basic each one could be made in 6 to 8 hours or less if you're a skilled seamstress. Then you won't have the fit issues that she's talking about either.
Thanks!... you might like to consider making a dickey to go under the neckline of the purple dress. I've used one from Designer Stitch that used to be free on her website (not sure it it still is) but i believe Simplicity also had a vintage dickey pattern reissued a little while ago. ... Is "cotton flax" the same as a cotton linen blend? Do you know what the percentages are? Jen!
Oh, a dickey might be a good idea! And it sounds like it's pretty close. This is from their website: "Cotton Flax is the perfect blend of Cotton and Flax. Flax fibers are derived from the same plant as Linen. Cotton Flax is absorbent, robust, and dries faster than regular cotton."
@@magnoliaweathershield443 what I found online was that "while all linen is made from flax, not all cloth made from flax is linen. Lower grades of linen may have more of the shorter tow fibers included and will be less lustrous and strong." Whereas linen is made with the longer fibers from flax.
@@magnoliaweathershield443 Have just copied this from the materials page on the website. "Flax Fabric is made from the cellulose fibers that grow inside of the stalks of the flax plant, the same plant that Linen is derived from. It is laborious to manufacture, but this blend of Cotton and Flax fiber is robust, absorbent, and dries faster than regular Cotton." Boils down to same plant different process to get the fibre.
Hi there! We completely understand the struggle-standard sizing can be so restrictive. At SeamsFriendly, we specialize in custom sizing and made-to-measure fits. We’re here to help you get the perfect fit that celebrates you just as you are.
This is nice, but I do need to note- you really, REALLY need someone to help you take accurate measurements. It’s not that important for dresses, but the jumpsuit I ordered from them was too short in the torso to realistically wear.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions Mix of both. I used the exact same measurements I had sent Eshakt (and that jumpsuit fit pretty well)i, but I guess their idea of where the end of the legs were was about an inch shorter than Eshakti's idea of it, and my attempt to clarify that I am indeed more of a long leg/short torso person than the norm somehow got me labeled as petite. And their returns policy is more than a little painful (you can't remove ANY of the tags iirc, basically if you do more than try it on like you would at a store they won't take it back) so I'm stuck trying to figure out how to turn the pants part into a skirt to make it wearable.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions If they can confirm it was a mistake entirely on their part and not on yours, yes. And the wrap dress I got in the same order was pretty much fine; it's just that skirts don't have the same "problem areas" that a pair of pants will. That's why I said you really need to be sure you have good measurements before you order- from what I can tell it's one of those things where if it's good, it's great, but when it's not good it's REALLY not good.

Apparently eshakti was possibly an embezzlement issue...
Cotton Flax is absorbent, robust, and dries faster than regular cotton."
if it isn't linen, but is from flax? Does that mean its a sort of cellulose? Can anyone explain?
@@magnoliaweathershield443 what I found online was that "while all linen is made from flax, not all cloth made from flax is linen. Lower grades of linen may have more of the shorter tow fibers included and will be less lustrous and strong." Whereas linen is made with the longer fibers from flax.
@@magnoliaweathershield443 Have just copied this from the materials page on the website.
"Flax Fabric is made from the cellulose fibers that grow inside of the stalks of the flax plant, the same plant that Linen is derived from.
It is laborious to manufacture, but this blend of Cotton and Flax fiber is robust, absorbent, and dries faster than regular Cotton."
Boils down to same plant different process to get the fibre.
@@nanettebromley8843 thanks!
Raising hand: also comparatively narrow in the shoulders, and ready to wear assumes I’m built like a linebacker. :-/
Hi there! We completely understand the struggle-standard sizing can be so restrictive. At SeamsFriendly, we specialize in custom sizing and made-to-measure fits. We’re here to help you get the perfect fit that celebrates you just as you are.
Wow! Aside from the video content here, this red is fabulous for you! ❤
😍😍❤❤❤
This is nice, but I do need to note- you really, REALLY need someone to help you take accurate measurements. It’s not that important for dresses, but the jumpsuit I ordered from them was too short in the torso to realistically wear.
Did you send incorrect measurements, or did they make it incorrectly?
@ApprenticeWriter oh interesting! Even though it was a fit issue? I thought they guaranteed fit.
