    As a corsetmaker, what I would have done to pattern the cups is to find a bra that fits like you want and do a duct tape pattern off it and then cut it into the shapes you want.

    I'm not a historical costumer or a cosplayer, but I have to say - watching you problem solve your way through to achieve your goals has ABSOLUTELY given me the courage to do the same. Right now I am in the midst of replicating a vintage dress from a museum for my company holiday party. It's a bit down to the wire but I'm getting there!! (I keep reminding myself that NO ONE is going to look that close and they have no idea what it's supposed to look like anyway😂😂)

    Watching to cheer myself up after the US election 😢. You look beautiful and sparkling! As someone not super familiar with the original costume, I think it looks finished and amazing, but I understand wanting to add final details.

    I used to play roller derby, and wore fishnets, and I didn’t think of it because it’s been since before Covid was the last time I played roller derby. I always wore Footy socks under the fishnets so it doesn’t grab on your toes.

    • @morrowdimtindomiel
      @morrowdimtindomiel 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I was thinking something similar. Maybe cutting off the foot at the correct place to sew it onto a footy sock. I know that Rebecca wears shorts under her dresses (brilliant idea), so perhaps dedicating a pair to sew the to of the stockings, as well, could add comfort. So, shorts up top, footy socks at the foot, and stockings in between, like Frankenstein hosiery.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was wearing these over other tights, so it wasn't grabbing onto my toes, but I think just having a texture under my foot when I was standing in such high heels for so long was what did it.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I was wearing shorts with these, but because of the skirt length, they were shorter than the ones I normally wear, so the fishnets were still rubbing together. I think for these specific fishnets, just taking off any of the higher up rhinestones is the key.

    • @bunhelsingslegacy3549

      I always wore sockettes under my fishnets, I don't like the feel of them on the bottom of my feet even when they're not grabbimg my toes...

    On the Amazon Package Issue: Probably every article was stored in a different storage house.
    Here in Germany almost half of the offered articles are Amazon Marketplace, some of them with shipping fee some of them with free shipping for prime user (but still not prime delivery) aka shipping is not by Amazon. So there is a pretty big chance that I order 3 articles and every article comes with a different shipping company.

    For future use, why don’t you set the stud tape on a slightly wider piece of grow grain or material that is black. Then the problem of the sticky back and the lack of width will be fixed. You will just have a slightly raised stud tape, but from, the front it will look like studs on black material. Just something to think about.

    • @tinasuarez
      @tinasuarez 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I was just about to say this. Visually the stud tape would have stood out enough and it would have been faster and easier than trying to find the perfect width.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Unfortunately the studs themselves were still too small, but if they had been the right size, that would be a good idea!

    A way to help with the pain of the fishnets on your feet would be to give them legging holes. Since your boots aren’t short, you could pretty easily secure the fishnets around the area at your ankles to a wide piece of elastic, and even encase that in comfy fabric if you don’t like the feel of elastic on your skin. Then you can just cut off the foot and you have legging fishnets! Just an idea! I love this musical and the costume is coming along well!

    Its a very striking look, it'll be interesting to see what it looks like with all the trims added - although i do NOT envy you attaching all those studs by hand one by one omg 😱.

    Boobs are indeed weird. We've made steel and aluminum costume armours and boobs are such a huge engineering problem! We discovered when making metal bikinis the most important part for keeping the cups from tipping up and letting boobage spill out the bottom was two small pieces about the size of your palms and the placement is if you put your hands on your hips then slide them up your sides till you wind up as underboob support.... those little pieces along the ribs made all the difference! And also in researching bust support structures my husband learned how completely borked bra sizing is... we were fitting a woman who at the time was a 23J or something unfortunate... but the bustier we made her was for clubbing, and she told us later it was the only thing sh oned where her boobs didn't move if she jumped around...

    One thing to remeber when it comes to how they do for example the cup go on the broadway one is also due to her size of bust and how it sit on her. If she had a more straigth ahead bust the cup had looked diffrent becouse she bow need it to end far out on the side due to she still has bust there. My dilemma as well on bustiers becouse they not made for a wider bust at all so it just get unfomfteble when it cut bust off. If your bust look diffrent then the person you make same custum that need to be adjusted and can't allways look perfekt the same becouse we don't have same shape

    Also in general if you're using a mainstream pattern company corset pattern you always have to size down because they add 2-3 inches of ease even to corset patterns, which need negative ease.

      I commented that before finishing the video, glad it's not an issue. For the tights, I usually wear comfy socks with tights just in case, and some chub rub shorts over them. Could shorts stop the rhinestones rubbing?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Looking good, so far. Other than your corset, I take it you were wearing your usual underlayers with this costume? When I look at the pictures that you show of the costume, I do wonder whether the performer has to wear special undergarments (basically anything other than standard underpants and bra). Also, do you put the dress on over your head, like with most shirts?

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have heard possibly that some versions of the shirt may actually be a leotard for the performers, but based on straps I've seen, most are still wearing a bra, and/or maybe a basic leotard underneath. And yeah, the shirt just pulls on - no closures.

      Machinists in the US often use decimal inches, so a scale divided into tenths of an inch and something smaller, often 50ths though 20ths here, is not so unusual. It does seem very odd to use it for fabric trims though.
      That chain is a aluminum which is very light, something heavier would drape better, maybe stainless steel or plated brass. Solid silver (not just plated) might be ideal as it is quite dense but it won't be so readily available in that sort of size and of course the price of silver will be a LOT more than aluminum.
