one of indonesian nicest food. in fact there are many types of sate in Indonesia..sate ponorogo, sate padang (spicy), sate klathak, sate itik, etc.. glad to see you enjoy n appreciate indonesian food :)
I have been in Indonesia for two months now and I can confirm that satay ayam is one of the best, most common food in indonesia. It is also my favorite along with bakso, or meatballs with various meats in one.
Victoria Lsaint also i am from yenmen but also if u coming ti saudi arabia they have amazing foods if want to come or want asking for the best restrant i will show u my email b7ali975@gmail.com my p.h 00966550164073
I love the way Mark smiles after he eats! But just curious, can anyone point me to a video where he doesn't like the food? Just want to see what kind of face he makes :)
Oh wow you brought back childhood memories!!! I grew up eating Sate ayam there! my mom was a nurse at that Hospital for 25 years. Can't find as good Sate here in the US. Awesome job finding the place!
You can never go wrong with Sate. Hey Mark, I came up with a great idea..... You said your going to smell like Sate all day... lets go in and invent Smokey Sate cologne for men... Us food lovers would go nuts on this. lol
When I watch this video, my mouth is watering. Of course I can prepare satay for 300 people together with lontong, gado f gado and many more dishes. But when you watch this video, you think to yourself,,,, spoil yourself with a beautiful woman from all these Indonesian dishes. Thanks for your video Mark Twins ❤
+Anime Fangirl lol.says who?in my personal experience,Jakarta is even greener than Bangkok, or Manila,New Delhi,Beijing,Shanghsi,New York, etc. polluted air is not really a problem. only traffic is the biggest problem. trash?have you ever been in Jakarta lately? its clean everywhere now. but Indonesia is not only Jakarta, there is Yogyakarta,Bali,Lombok,Bandung, and another 17.000 islands. if you're an Indonesian, shame on you. im German but i love Indonesia and Jakarta more than you?seriously? if you're not, Indonesian people will always welcome you again. Cheers
almost all (but ofc not all) street food vendors in Indonesia (Indonesians are known for heavy smokers) will be smoking while cooking in front of you, and they just dont care if you care about it or not.
Raxx Billions of people live long and healthy lives without western standards. They add nothing to culture, nutrition or health and it makes food more expensive. None of the food stalls Mark goes to could exist in New York or London, and those two cities are worse off thanks to their hysterical, unnatural, hygiene standards.
Raxx Its interesting that you should say this about Sate, which is producing an incredible amount of smoke, right on to the delicious food. A tiny bit of tobacco smoke, even if it touched the food, which it clearly doesn't, is in no way a "health hazard". Its great that people have proper concern for others; the question is what is proper concern, and the difference between that and hysteria. Right now, there is pure hysteria over smoking, and not alot of rational thinking. Then there is the cultural aspect. Everywhere in the world should not be the same. People should not be forced to live by the same standards, eat the same food, use the same medicine. Different cultures are all legitimate, and the differences between them are a healthy thing. I think its great that people smoke by choice. You do not have to eat at a restaurant where the chef smokes; go somewhere else. He is minding his own business and making delicious food, no one is getting sick and everyone is happy. What on Earth is wrong with that?
Indonesian living abroad here and this was my all time favorite sate stall in Jakarta! This video definitely brings back my childhood memories when I used to be a weak kid. Ialways spent at least one day a week going to that hospital in front of the stall and it was stressful. But my parents always took me to the sate stall afterwards. The delicious sate brought back my mood and it was like a gift after all the medications. A must go to place every time I visit Jakarta!
Thank you for reviewing my favorite dish, Mark! You know how we like to put name of a place behind a dish's name, like we do with Soto Betawi and Coto Makassar? The one you had there was Sate Madura, named after an island off East Java. It is one of the most famous variants of sate that can be found all over the archipelago. Of course you've also had Sate Padang. But even that could be either Sate Padang Kota, Sate Padang Pariaman, Sate Padang Panjang, or Sate Dangung-dangung Payakumbuh. What I'm trying to say is, there are so many sate variants in Indonesia that you could have eaten just different kind of sate's everyday during your stay and would still have enjoyed every bit ☺ Sakalangkong ('thank you' in Madurese)!
+Eve Tand +Eve Tand Ajo Ramon's is Sate Padang Pariaman as indicated by the reddish-brown gravy. But if you know your Minangkabau, even the fact that they call him 'Ajo' instead of 'Uda' is an evident of his heritage. I am also a fan of Sate Ayam Madura, but...Sate Babi Manado? Are you talking about Ragey?
I like that you actually went all the way through all of these street places and not solely sticking to indoor restaurants. Not only you got the real glimpse of the original culinary taste but also the feels of when you're eating them are definitely nowhere else to be found!!! Always loving your spirit of culinary adventure. props for sticking to dem real adventures!! also, that might be my friends 0:56
this is the best Satay Stall in Jakarta!!! i've been enjoying this for two decades now. It good that you are able to try this dish while you are in Jakarta.
Hi, Mark. A fellow TH-camr and Food-Travel lover here! A suggestion for you: Try to visit Bangladesh some time. Don’t miss Sylhet city and Old Dhaka, the food there is amazing! You will find the people really warm and welcoming. Bangladesh also has the largest mangrove forest (Sundarbans), longest natural beach (Cox’s Bazar) and a wonderful coral island (St Martin’s island).
I always waited for a little to-the-right-neck & shoulder movement from him. It indicates how much he enjoyed and how good the food is, it's like a signature movement from Mark. Nice work MW! Keep it up!
I love you so much, Mark. its really an honour for us, Indonesian, that you made 50 Indonesian Dishes. Its like you're in love with our foodies. Just like us.
guys, guys, sebelum nyaranin suatu makanan ke Mark. Mendingan buka dulu deh blognya, ternyata Mark udah makan se Jakarta Raya. edan nih orang kalo masalah makanan. hahaha.
Mark, I started making it a routine to eat while I'm watching your videos so that my stomach doesn't growl from watching you eat all those delicious meals! :-)
Yup.. Instantly recognised the area. Mum used to work in that hospital as the head of Medical Check Up section before retiring. She often brought that satay home. Defnitely one of the best satay in Jakarta.
Mark, you make my mouth water looking at the satay that is my favorite my wife is from Indonesia and every year we go back and that is the first thing l eat and then meatballs love it thanks mate
Food is fabulous in Indonesia and very understated...and the sate is definately some of the best in the world and always grilled hot coals...unbelievable.
Mark, the one that you eat is sweet soy sauce version. Sate Kambing is usually served with 2 options of sauce, sweet soy with shallots and tomatoes and the peanut based sauce. You can choose what kind of sauce you want for it and both of them are superb!
I've seen many videos you've made. Its awesome, you really enjoy what you eat, and fortunately I like it a lot. But now, i have a serious question for you, no offense lol. But how can you be able to eat without getting fat and how about the health of your body caused by the foods you eat. I mean, you look a little bit skinny but all i see you are so healthy. Can you tell us what's your secret... it is not a joke, i mean it :)
+addinpa Hi Addinpa. it is kinda pricey compare to any other street food sate in Jakarta. But they have the best quality sate that I have ever found in Jakarta. The meat is full in one skewer, really worth the price.
+D.R.D. Returns (Now with Better Wifi) It's actually strands from the banana leaf wrapping left over from peeling the rice cakes. It's cool that they notice and pick em out though.
shushhh.. enoughhh.. he knows better now that it's banana leaf fiber.. i get annoyed by all the notif emails.. sighh.. how do i unfollow this comment??
man I usually agree with the fact that most asian food that are extraordinarily good are the sketchy and somewhat dirtier ones. But this one is too much for me, and the fact that they put the meat directly on that grill covered in I don't even know how many years of black coal and burnt stuff, too much for me to handle lol
hy mark... i'm faudra from indonesia (bengkulu) ...next time if u go to indonesia, you must go to padang, medan, yogyakarta, solo,n all of place in indonesia...😊😊😊 i love sate madura n padang
Mark, there is a lot of authentic foods in Indonesia and you won't never get bored to explore them.. And don't forget to try Indomie Goreng too ( Instant fried noodle ).
