From what I understand (and pay close attention to the lyrics) it’s about not only being stuck in a ‘bad romance’ or toxic relationship but also how her pop persona and music producers pushed artists into being overly sexual to sell themselves to a male dominated market, as well as being viewed as having to essentially sell herself to make it in the biz
Back in those days, Gaga used to have a different intricate outfit with deep meanings and references just to arrive at the airport, then a different one to arrive at the hotel, then another one to leave the hotel, then another to go to the grocery store, and finally another one to arrive at the studio. And then she would leave the studio with a different one! Every second of her whole life was a performance for the first 5 years of her career. It was such a high maintenance lifestyle, she had to slow it down before actually going insane. She still does it for events and some appearances, but she is not afraid to just relax and put on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt anymore.
I always find it interesting when straight guys who play video games and are into comic books and super heroes choose to be shocked, appalled, and confused by Lady Gaga, as if it's anything different... It's like their appreciation and understanding for art and design doesn't translate to other mediums.
He's not really shocked or appalled. He liked the video. She made the video to be a little shocking and provocative but entertaining. His reaction seemed to be about what she wanted. I'm sure he's playing it up for entertainment tho.
This reaction was the greatest, I can't stop laughing. Gaga is definitely known for many outfit changes, as well as showing a lot of skin and her videos are all very creative so you will enjoy yourself no matter which one you watch. That being said, she also has tons of really iconic live performances. You definitely need to see Paparazzi at the VMAs and I also suggest the music video to that song since you've already seen the sequel, which is Telephone ;)

I know you're new to the Gaga universe but she's a true chameleon. This era was epic and groundbreaking but my favorite era was during the jazz collaboration she did with Tony Bennett. Thats when she was less Gaga and more Lady... then she does another 360 with Joanne and adds some country/rock to her resume and THEN, just in case that wasn't enough, she turns around and stars in A Star Is Born and absolutely nails her acting debut! I can't wait to see what's next. Keep up the good work by, you're quickly becoming one of my favorite TH-camrs.

Lady gaga is a fashionista. We have high expectations of the wardrobes she wore in videos&real life. No matter what, she have beautiful voice. Not a gimmick.
I could see the resemblance however in this video the costume designer was Alexander McQueen and in the Fifth Element it was the designer Jean Paul Gautier.
If memory serves, the 'gold face' gut is actually a huge fan, and a Russian Billionaire. The story goes he paid her $1 Million dollars to be in the video.

There's also Beautiful, Dirty, Rich and Eh Eh Nothing Else I Can Say, which are good songs but not as popular, but they have music videos. The only other single from her second album (which have Telephone and Bad Romance) is Alejandro, which is on the weird side too. Third album has A LOT to work with. Born This Way is the title track and one of her most iconic songs (and another long music video), along with Marry The Night. It also has Edge of Glory, You and I, and Judas. Fourth album, which is her most underrated album, is Artpop with Applause and G.U.Y. Then you have with Joanne you have Perfect Illusion, Million Reasons, John Wayne, and a piano version of Joanne. She also has her latest single (the album got pushed back because of Corona) which is Stupid Love. There's also the entire A Star Is Born Album.
