    I owned a foton tunland and it's called foton thunder here in Philippines after 18000 kilometer of running I had only 2 complaints. first the intercooler hose on the cooler side blow-up at 180km/hr speed. second the aircon is not so cold. Engine is excellent, Brake is excellent, body built is excellent, suspension is excellent. My call for foton and I wish youve read this please provide a mass intercooler hose for tunland because sooner or later it will burst as what happens to mine and I strongly suggest that you integrate Panasonic air-conditioning to your vehicles and I'm serious

  • @russellgaskin7995
    @russellgaskin7995 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I brought one 18 months ago. I have a couple of problems with it.
    It has a hesitation in the throttle on take off (common with all turbo diesels? No it's not). I have driven many different make and none have had this problem. I am told that the latest ECU update will fix this.
    After about 10000kms it developed a bad clutch slip when it is under heavy work load in hot weather. I had it adjusted by the dealer and other mechanics but still slipped. I noticed that as the hydraulic system got hot the fluid seemed to push back up the lines and force the rod behind the clutch pedal back till it was hard against the stopper and because it couldn't go back any more it would operate the clutch to the point it would slip. I adjusted the pedal freeplay to about 40mm and that seems to have stopped the slip. Now the clutch and flywheel could be damaged and needs to be replaced. Why the dealer and Foton couldn't have worked this out begs to be asked.
    I'm not a mechanic and I can work it out why can't they?
    There seems now that there is an issue with the vacuum assist on the clutch and it won't hold vacuum as well.
    If any one is having this clutch slip problem, when it happens pour cool water over the slave cylinder and cool it down. If you get your freeplay back your having the same problem I am.

    • @russellgaskin7995
      @russellgaskin7995 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Just to add, I do like the vehicle. It must seems to me some dealers want to sell these but don't know or don't want to do any investigation/warrantee work.
      Once these issues are fixed I'll have a great car.
      They are not the best quality but they are pretty good that's why they are priced where they are in the market.
      Ford's, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Holden all have issues too
      They have to start somewhere

    • @TheNiekerk
      @TheNiekerk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You may have air in the system. They are a pain to bleed.
      These have a clutch disc and pressure plate fom a Nissan Patrol. Really strong.
      Can not remember what type, just know it is bigger than Land Cruiser.
      Some models had a bad batch clutch vacuum cylinder. Easily fixed with a new one.
      Pricey at dealer but I order direct from factory and is a lot cheaper.
      The throttle is a dark area for me.
      Maybe get a obd2 scan tool and measure the % of the throttle as you drive. Maybe a faulty pedal.
      Also I had software update on mine and it was lazy as can be.
      Went to Cummins and demanded my old software back and they did do it.

    Typical American question, but what is the difference between a ute and a pickup truck? I've been told they are totally different as well as the same. In America, the Tunland, if it was possible for us to buy it, would be a pickup truck like a Ram 1500 or a Ford F150.

    • @gde1989
      @gde1989 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In Australia, basically a "ute" (short for utility) is any pick-up truck in American terminology, however here's where it may get a bit complicated. Technically, the term ute referred to the car-based utility in the guise of the Holden Commodore Ute and Ford Falcon Ute, but has become universally used to describe any utility such as the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger. Now that the Commodore and Falcon Utes have now been discontinued, Ford have began marketing the Ranger as a "truck" and trying to rid the "ute" moniker which has caused a bit of controversy here. American trucks, which are very rare in Australia (only imported in privately and converted to right hand drive and cost over $100,000) can either be called a ute or truck here. I personally call them a truck, because they are just too (unnecessarily) big to be called a ute.

    • @robertbaratheon9289
      @robertbaratheon9289 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, okay. Thanks for the information. I always believed a "ute" was a car based vehicle with a bed instead of a trunk, but I heard regular pickups called utes as well so I was confused. I just was never able to get a good answer as to what a ute was.
