- The 2024 College Football season is under 20 weeks from kickoff, and on Late Kick Live Ep 501 Josh Pate discussed something that seems to not be receiving much attention right now. Could we see a combination of NIL and added eligibility rules produce the deepest overall season of talent we've ever seen? Why are more potential early departures choosing to remain in College Football? Ugh, man, I'm gonna be glad when we are through with all the COVID year nonsense.
Teams like Michigan Ohio state Georgia alabama Oregon Tennessee lsu penn state texas auburn clemson Florida notre dame Florida state Oklahoma will always have 1up on the competition
So damn good we’re on there twice. Roll Tide
Thought I was seeing things there for a second lol 😂
RTR
@@brucewatson4994 you like that huh
Not bama and Auburn. They're NIL poverty. Teams like Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC will do better than the bama schools in the NIL era.
Pennstate will never be competition 🤣
Josh, your podcast has restored my love and enjoyment of college football! Thank you for your hardwork!
Looking forward to seeing OSU and all that money spending become the next TAMU 😂😂😂
As a Nebraskan who has had many conversations with SEC and others. I honestly think anyone you perfers NFL to College Football is weird. I'm a St. Louis Rams fan and think no owners care about their fans and all will move a team if they find a greener pasture. Obviously, the Packers are a different story.
The "covid year" wasn't handled right. It should have only applied to a select group that met specific criteria. But when you've got kids getting to exercise that "free year due to the pandemic of 2020" who were underclassmen in high school at that time, that's when it went BEYOND ridiculous
I was aware of players staying in college later, but didn't realize how it impacted the teams you listed, and a lot of those teams have talented coaching staffes.
This could be one of those years where no one goes undefeated and the top 5 have 1 or 2 losses. Would make for a fun 12 team playoff
I will say that one benefit of NIL is that guys are more likely to stay to improve their NFL draft stock if they are getting some money as a kind of insurance in case they get injured.
this covid year is gonna create so many busts lmfao
Very interesting good show
I like the idea of NIL, players should be able to profit. I just wish the adults in the room, i.e Conference Commissioners, would put some guardrails and caps on it so that most all Power 4 can have a shot at competing for players. Transfer portal windows and number of times a player can transfer needs work too.
Now people can feel guiltless when booing a college player. Juss sayn.
I like the name Nagy, sounds like a smart guy 😂
Not going to the NFL but also not always staying with the same school. While my school has benefited greatly from the portal recently {FSU} it still unnerves me that transferring just doesn't seem right. Too easy to do IMHO.
What bothers me is not transferring, but doing it 3 times. There is no structure , no limitations to speak of , from the ncaa.
LSU be like: 🤤🤤🤤 week 1 😂😂😂😂
it's not the point of this segment but as far as I know the NFL has not increase the number of players they take every year. I know there's a supplemental draft and they can always take undrafted free agents. It just makes me sad in 1-2 t years he NFLs gonna keep doing their thing, but a l lot more guys than normal will have gotten their hopes up for nothing.
UFL is pretty cool so far though !
RTR
That's a non story until the next draft.
Uh oh, watch out for Rutger
what are you even talking about
How could it possibly have been more clear?
@@JoshPateCFB how do you have a platform

Onward Notre Dame
I suspect that the Michigan Wolverines 2023 football team was the most under rated team in college football. A team that may end up having the most players drafted into the NFL, by a single college football team. It had no one with a 5 star rating. It didn't have the best QB. Or the best RB. The best wide receivers. Or the best linemen. Now in 2024 Michigan may prove itself a surprise team. But still not appreciated. Will we see an undefeated national champion in the future? Will Michigan be the last to do it? We will see.
All they had to do was cheat and they could get it done. So respectable
@@FreezeBlindpsst the only one cheating is your women
@@RadicallyOptimisticpssst the 2022 Michigan team beat OSU.....
And lost to TCU while OSU nearly beat UGA. Btw OSU was favored by 7 over UM. They were better all year. 2023 was the first year UM was ahead of OSU.
@ncaafan225 😆 🤣 😂 just a fan of NCAA, which will be no longer shortly. OSU should have never made those playoffs, are you a TCU fan now? That's your chirp? I don't remember that after JJ Natty...would the next dumb OSU fan please stand up...please stand up!
