A Silent Voice...changed me. Made me cry 4 times. I related to it hard. The bullying, depression,...the love. Fuck man...I've seen it so many times and now own it physically. Favorite movie for probably the wrong reasons.

I had some emotional attachments to that too since I was bullied too for being Asian when I was younger. But there is another movie that I had more emotional attachment with and for me is better than Koe no Katachi. It is Maquia for me. The parenthood theme in that movie and the ending just made me cry for so long that it became a gray area in my memories. It just made me think of how my mom raised me up and my siblings alone and the troubles she must have had. The troubles she had immigrating to another completely foreign country for her kid's future leaving her own family behind. She comforted me and stood up for me through all the bullying too. There are just too many things. After watching the movie I started appreciating what my mom has done for me and I started to enjoy more of the time we still have left together. Maquia holds such a special place in my heart because of that and many other reasons. I just feel like these type of parenthood type of themes isn't being shown enough in anime, which is also why I consider Maquia as one of my favourite anime.

Another one from FMAB was when Winry confronted scar and has him at gunpoint and Ed stops her and tells her it's not the way and she breaks down crying while Ed holds her and the ending song starts playing

I honestly cried the most in a random scene in Hunter x Hunter, the scene where Bloster I think his name was, took Reina back to her village and she hugs her mom and her mother tells her she will always recognize her even as a ant. That shit makes me tear up every time for some reason.

@Football Icons It's about a girl who was trained for nothing but war. When the war ends she suddenly finds herself without an identity. She gets a job as an Auto Memory Doll, someone who writes letters for others. She has to learn to understand others and make their stories translate well to the written word. On her travels across the country she meets a lot of people with troubling stories, these learn her to be more human and understand the human condition.
She also lost all her limbs in the war, which are replaced by metal ones. And we learn a lot about the war she was in.
It's a slow anime but very rewarding to watch. It has some amazing stories in it. I would definitely recommend it.
Violet Evergarden ep 10 is a god damn magnum opus.

@@Angel-mu4wm yes absolutely watch Madoka. It's probably my favorite anime of all time. Also, even though spoilers doesnt ruin the show, avoid spoilers like the plague. Also its not a show that tries to get you to cry like YLIA and Anohana btw. It's actually nothing like those shows. Just dont go in expecting a tearjerker

Plus at the time i watched koe no katachi 2days later and to this day it still stands being the only anime where a tear has left my eye (tears that dont leave my eyes dont count). Btw Fmab ending did leave tears in my eyes but not enough to leave my eyes. Funny thing is I've seen Anohana without feeling the need to cry at all, I just didnt find it that depressing (same with your lie in april ending, which apparently makes you want to cry)

“Never watch again” so true. I watched it like 9 years ago and I’m finally thinking of watching it again but I don’t know if I want to
Clannad: After Story made me cry so much.. I cried 11 times in total (yes, I counted). All the other anime seem kinda tame in comparison(in terms of cry factor). Another anime that made me cry a lot was Code Geass R2 (4 episodes). The latest anime I've watched that brought me to tears multiple times was Vinland Saga. All of these anime I've mentioned are masterpieces and I wholehearted urge you to watch if you still haven't.
The guy on the right mentioned Clannad and i highly doubt it included After Story. Season 1 is just a build up and character development and AF is where the true route is (if we go by the game routes).

To Your Eternity absolutely devastated my entire state of being. It basically speedruns emotional damage and by episode 5 I was full on sobbing, episode 13 I took a break cause I got too attached to this character that then proceeded to die on me.

in the most vague terms possible, i think the difference with a lot of sad anime and hxh is that it wasn't really portrayed as a sad thing at all. but the fact that komugi was so content with the situation just makes it worse. like it reveals more about her life than any of her monologues.

I haven’t watched it since my freshman year of high school, and it’s still in my top 5. I’ve never been much of a crier, but now that I’m more emotionally mature and real life has run me through the wringer a couple of times, it’ll likely destroy me next time.

Devilman Crybaby 8 and 9 are the most painful back to back episodes to go through. Its very depressing as it shows the evil within society and humans, with the death of certain characters and a father having to make a very hard decision + their realistic reactions. (I purposely left out spoilers)
I felt the same way bro. Those last two episodes made me Cry hard and even accept the Sinisterness and Evil in Human beings. Something I've always wanted to Write about in my Manga series.

Plastic Memories really got me even though I knew from the start what will happen. The "completing your list of dreams before you die" trope just hit me really hard.

Vinland Saga's last episode has still made me cry more than any whole series. Mostly because of that soundtrack. First that tragic yet conclusive music to one of the characters' deaths,, then the extremely hopeful music to end it off,, there were too many emotions to cope with.

When I started watching Angel Beats, people already warned me about how sad it supposedly was, and then I ended up not crying. I saw it coming, though. I was completely prepared to cry my eyes out if we were going to have every character pass on from the school, so when the energetic girl and the blue guy imagined the love life they never had, it got me almost crying. But then the shadow monsters happened and *then* most of them already passed on anyway? And I thought it was a shame.

We are both anime fans so we thought it was some light rom-com but it didn't take me long to figure out what was going to happen (I work with trauma and at-risk youths so in my wheelhouse). I just let myself cry throughout the series but it wasn't until the last that my boyfriend broke down completely but I knew it wasn't just for Menma. Kinda got to thank my coworker. The show helped us break down some walls.

Then, Meruem said “I’m just gonna take a short nap,” and I thought “he isn’t going to wake up again.” And the TEARS, they came like a tidal wave and swept me away. @@alexthefangirl6136 Yeah I found myself handling some sad anime pretty well. Anohana was sad, sure, but it barely made me tear up. I found Violet's struggles in Violet Evergarden harder to handle. The only show that hit me as hard as the Chimera Ant finale was Your Lie in April. This definitely is in part because I am a musician, and am a big fan of Romanic era piano, especially Chopin. So I think I was predisposed to strong emotional pulls from the music, but the ending to this anime hit me harder than anything.
I definitely agree that Chimera Ant arc finale is my standard for emotionally devestating anime. Maybe one day Re:Zero will hit that mark too, but definitely from a different angle.

1:46 episode 1 of steins Gate has such a strong visual intrigue/atmosphere/presence and does a lot to set up subtle and somewhat confusing mystery hooks right in the first episode, I really never got what people meant when they said the first episode is bad
Not gonna lie, but the first episode for me was really strange at first. From okabe's rambling, the chunibyo, mayuri's childish character, and taru's overall creep. I literally stopped watching just because of that. After a while, I gave second chance to the show and it was my favorite series of all time. And the first episode becomes one of the best introduction in anime.
in hindsight it's great, but for a first time watcher dipping their toes in, it's just really confusing and a bit weird, a lot of people dropped it and I myself almost did, but read some comments saying it's worth it to keep going, and it now remains one of my favourite anime and that whole experience was incredible

And the way everything was done was to such a clearly thoughtful and competent degree that it seemed ridiculous for me to not trust that it would be a great show with lots of great ambitious artistic merits.

Same here , I heard it was gonna be an emotional episode and thought „well i kinda think I know to whom the letters will go so I don’t think I’ll cry“, then the letters start and at the one for 18 I’m starting to really tear up, then with the violet scene back at the company I just start bawling my eyes out, had a mental breakdown and had to write down my feelings about the episode to deal with them xD (I still have the note saved on my phone) ^^
