From my own experience using a cotton blended with linen make for a towel/washcloth that is so much more absorbent than plain cotton. It is more expensive but weaving for myself I feel it is worth it.
My current weaving is mostly viking period techniques and products. Backstrap, card weaving and warp weighted weaving. Some spinning as well.
