Exciting Leica M12 rumours: what's really going on?

- Leica M12 is rumoured already, it might have a bigger display, less buttons and a hybrid rangefinder / EVF.
Will that make it less of a Leica M? Or are we embracing progress?
One thing is certain: Leica is not sleeping on its past glories.

Here is how I see it, for one if they do hybrid like the X-Pro that is ok but I'm more excited about the M11 getting less expensive. I was thinking of getting an M-10R but I will try for an M-11 instead.
You'll be golden with either one :) me, I am still targeting the M10m but I have a personal thing with B/W (not just the conversion). M11m is not as fascinating imho despite, of course, technically superior
@@OneLensOnly I would love the Monochrom models but I can’t justify that much for BW. I tend to shoot BW film.
Me neither, but it's still on my wishlist :) I had some fun with the native BW raw on the little Pixii last year, have a look at those episodes if you want. Cheers
Although Leica is a great system, cost makes it out of reach for most of us. Remember luxury is designed to keep us poor!
Once invested, it's something we could - eventually - keep for a whole life :) but yes, there are other good products for a fraction of the price
Leica isn’t in any way luxurious besides the fact that it costs more. Look at their newest camera, it uses a mid range viewfinder from years ago instead of the best available like a luxury camera would.
With an EVF it is a change, With digital it is a change. Welcome to 2024. Times change but some folks cannot. Let them use the old, old cameras.
I heard Nikon, too, is working at a digital rangefinder (Zs but maybe it's just a rumour)
M12 ..... Finally (!!!!!) - the same height as the classic Ms, again...?? What a delight!!!!
It might still take some time for full development, but they are moving forward. How exciting :)
Would be a nice upgrade. My Nikon ZF can do that in manual focus, it still shows when you when the eye as example is in focus with the little box turning green. Nothing wrong with that
I would love to see that option on a M-mount glass I am serious about it, the rangefinder with impaired vision is really challenging and I zone focus most of the times for that very reason. The diopter adjustment I had on the q2 solved my problems
@@OneLensOnly haha tell me about vision, one reason that I still idon'thave the Pixii :)
They now have a diopter patch (magnetic), have a look at the new Pixii+. Cheers
I shall wait until the next major image quality upgrade------AKA 3-layer CMOS sensor similar to Foveon.
Just no more megapixel, please :)
Leica viewfinders are so bad though, sl2 is the most expensive camera body in its class and yet uses the lowest resolution viewfinder.
It has the same viewfinder that 2000 dollar mirrorless cameras had over half a decade ago.
I think the rangefinder is the only thing that makes Leica special, so they shouldn’t mess with it too much.
Camera body, the craftsmanship, is excellent. Eventually you can keep your Leica for life and it still hold up with decades passing by. Tech they use is not the latest, I have to agree, but the real difference is made by the glasses, imho: it is where Leica really excels. That's why I enjoyed the little Pixii so much, as it allowed me to use those beautiful M-mount lenses. Voigtlander, Zeiss, Leica. You can't be wrong with either one
I would hate an EVF, I love the rangefinder on my M11.
Hey man, my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance designer, I wonder would you be interested o have a logo redesign for your channel to have a logo that is more directly related to your One Lens Only theme of branding? I would love to craft it for you, let me know if you interested for further details!
Hi Johnny, thank you for your offer, not interested at this moment but I'll give it a thought. Cheers
@@OneLensOnly ok, let me know as soon as possible if you need it to be done, it take time to know what's your needs and time for me to brainstorm! :-)
