I just recently started using mine again and loving it as a throw-in-the-bag everywhere camera. Paired with the TT-artisans autofocus f2.8 27mm pancake it's ace - heavy vignetting and all - and sort of has a film-ish feel. I took it to a birthday party the other night and coupled with the flash (which I would normally avoid in such circumstances if possible) the pictures had the vibe of an old disposable from 2008 that you've found and developed - but in a good way with far better quality of course!

This is crazy, this was my first proper camera, you use the lens I currently use on it, and the video is the same aspect ratio as my monitor. Right now I use it high iso B&W only, but I save the raws too. The grain on this camera is special to me, and I love the hybrid analogue digital look I get from it.

Been using one for a decade alongside X Pro 1 & 2: great pocket camera with short wide lenses but also a great tool for use with longer legacy glass and adapters; it's surprisingly capable with manual focus. The Samyang 12mm f2.0 is a beast on this body. Only real dislikes: the lack of full articulation on the screen so screen is always exposed to damage. Best buy after a Thumb rest: a Gorilla screen protector so you don't wreck the screen when it's in your pocket [keys etc].

I shelled out for the Fujifilm X70 because Ken Rockwell convinced me I needed the flash lol. Anyway, it's an amazing camera and I think it's even smaller than the X-M1. Fujifilm did a great job making their sensors, film simulations, and letting customers create and share their own film recipes. The megapixel wars have ended and it seems we've reached a bit of a plateau on practical image quality so photographers look for other features to give their photos that unique something. Kind of wish m43 had a similar film recipe like Fujifilm sensors...

@@hmmmnope2455 I haven't had any issues with battery life using my X70, though it is a smaller Fujifilm battery so a 2nd battery is probably a good idea. I do have to make sure to get a full charge the night before if I am going to be out all day with the X70. The nice thing though is it charges through the camera without having to take the battery out, so it's a little more convenient. Google says you can get 330 shots on a full charge, I dont shoot anywhere close to that much though. Hope that helps!

I was contemplating getting a grip extention, but I found that the little hotshoe thumb rest thing was a good enough for me. Plus, it didn't increase the camera's size or weight, which is great because I wanted this setup to be as small as possible.

@@TomCalton well I took it off there. And now it's much lighter. The grip combined with my Minolta MD rokkor 50mm 1.7 and the metal adapter made about as heavy as my original A7 which makes its kinda superfluous to my gear. My first Fuji, but I used it very very little. I learned everything about it, had the manual, and the Fuji guys on youtube had two videos on it which sped things up. But soon I acquired a T-2, used that sparingly, loved it, then bought an X-H1. Now, poking around with the X-M1, it drives me crazy how different it is in setting up things than the X-H1. You take a two year break and come back to this firmware, and you better practice in the house a while first. Worlds apart from the later cameras. Other than that, in my first week of that camera when I first got it, I took a shot of some succulents in black and white, square format, that is just astonishing. Only print I ever made from any Fuji pic.

I would probably recommend people actually look into the xa7/5 or xe4. Both are so much faster to shoot with and operate with more options for image settings as the custom setting menu in the m1 is very limited. The xa7 and xa5 both have this really lovely 16 by 9 lcd which is great for content creators. If you want a evf the xe4 has a really nice “rangefinder style” evf and is very powerful for its size. The grub kinda sucks out of the box (I call it the soap bar at work) but it is very easy to find cheap grips from Fuji and small rig for it. If u want to go even higher the xt50 is a very very compelling package that I have been loving to use. The 30mm macro makes that camera such a nice carry around and really works that 40mp sensor to its max. Fujiweekly’s xtrans 5 ektachrome sim is chiefs kiss. Only minus is you lose any selfie functionality that u have on the other two. If the rumors are true there should be another very compelling option coming soon

The X-T1 is an SLR style design, rather than the rangefinder styling of the X-Pro, X-E, X-A and X-M cameras, so it felt a bit odd to mention it. But, that's not to say I wouldn't make a video on the X-T1 in the future if enough people would like to see that? 🙂

The Panasonic LX100 is also one of these really pockettable camera , but with MFT and fixed zoom lens with a viewfinder (not great but usable for framing). They should give a furious back look at these type of cameras otherwise most will end up with an "always better" smartphone and drop cameras all together.

Now saying that it is the GOAT of Fuji X sensors is a bit of a stretch: noise at high ISO, and sometimes weird Fuji "greens" that were corrected later on have made the sensors of the Pro 2 and then Pro 3 better sensors hands down.
