  • I kept track of my high scores in the early 90s, and wrote my time down to LN2 as well - 29:58. Not too shabby! But little did I know that it can be done almost three times as fast!
    I fumbled in the Sewer stage, but otherwise I am darn pleased with the run.
    Happy to leave it here for the time being.

      Nice, but stuff that, if you’re gonna emulate man use a gamepad and no keyboard! Simply because you can, like you’re playing it on a PlayStation or SNES. Select for virtual keyboard… it’s tremendous

      So do I but you’re still hitting the same keys, just more conveniently.
      If you’re emulating are you using a normal modern keyboard to hit the function keys? I tried that and it’s a nightmare! The best would be fitting a Retropie inside an original Breadbin or C-wedge, otherwise stuff it

    I'm in awe of this. Picked up some of the tricks in the 80s, but I never knew about the Sewers and Mansion wall glitches!
    Also, I'm coming for you 😝but my best time is 12.09 right now with some major goofs, usually involving getting round enemies.

    I just uploaded my own playthrough.
    Unthought the world record was 16+ minutes!
    Under 12 minutes! That is nuts!
    I feel like a loser having just uploading mine haha
    Ah well it’s an excellent game!
    What are playing on? Original hardware?

      More people running, the merrier!
      Under 12 is fast but here's a kicker, under 11 minutes is doable though very hard.
      I played it on VICE emulator.

      @@impossamole537 I don't think that sub-11 minutes is possible. I had a pretty damn-near perfect run (6 seconds lower entering The Office, but ended up with 11.30, due to goofs later on).

    I was too young to play this, but I remember my dad grinding through it. He completed the first one, but never got past the helicopter on the office level. Turns out you can jump off screen. Would have saved him a lot of tears. Amazing speed run. WD

    This is the best way to play. If you stop to fight everyone you die. That's why I could never finish this without cheats

      Nope. I've completed this game by not only fighting everyone. I KILLED everyone (meaning, they didn't revive). That was a chore on level 5 and 6. The last guard revives forever, though (level 7) .

    what is the paper in central park that we never use?

    • @foghornleghorn5882

      Apparently a map to the sewers that never works. I missed it once to see what would happen thinking it was a sacred scroll like the first, but it had no effect on finishing the game! So I asked the same question on another forum.
      Apparently it works ‘sometimes’ in the sewers if you hold it, the doors will ‘flash’ but only ‘sometimes’ and it’s never worked for me. I’d you miss the first key and go back for it holding the ‘map’ the key flashes

    • @azalea_k
      @azalea_k ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually an item map. It makes certain items flash, but if you already know where they are, it just adds time.

    • @hogne
      @hogne ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a map. If you pick it up,, all the items you need to collect will flash (except the ones that are hidden). The manual actually says so: This map is a bit flash. It can reveal a lot.

    • @impossamole537
      @impossamole537  ปีที่แล้ว

      Live and learn. I always thought the piece of paper was needed to write the computer code down -- a kind of memory aid. And because I always picked up the map anyways, I just assumed that flashing items was the norm. Reading the manual would have indeed been helpful back then, the problem was that English was all Greek to me.
