Anxiously waiting for the sun to come up so I could meet up with my friends at the bus stop and continue perfecting our jumps. Ridin around with some of them on our pegs. Going to the corner store for Yoohoo and Now&Laters. Chillin at the house with everyone sprawled out either on the water bed or bean bags, munchin on Capt Crunch and playing Battletoads on Nintendo. I'd give anything to go back to those days❤
It took me 3 years to beat NES version, which I got around 94-95. Especially hard for me, except the speed tunnel, were the snake level and the speed roller, when chased by a huge nasty flashy circle. B&D was IMHO a relatively easier game. Still above most of the NES games (except Lion King and couple others). Many years after that, around 2017-18, I found that there are versions for SNES, SEGA, Arcade. I am still playing more casualty with friends from time to time.
The new game should have kept the original artstyle and used mechanics and gore from ARCADE. Nobody wants a kiddie beat em up. We want 90s edgy stuff from the OG Mortal Kombat era. My fave is Battle toads and Double dragon. Great gameplay variety, fun. Challenging, but never unfair. Quite possible to beat after a few tries even without savestates. It's all about the practice.
Most people never get pass the turbo tunnel for one reason - they hit the jump button while ascending the ramps, and they fall before reaching the other side of the "cliff". You don't hit the jump button because that way your wehicle looses momentum and you fall short, all you have to do is ascend the ramp, and DON'T PUSH ANYTHING. Then, and only then you'll land on the other side. Most gamers never get that and argue that they hit jump, and the toad still didn't make the jump, yeah, controversial decision, but you don't hit jump to get further.
It was an awesome surprise seeing and learning about Battletoads Arcade for the first time at the Galloping Ghost recently. The guy who played through it with me was plenty competent and we laughed quite a bit. I hadn't realized it was on Rare Replay so I'm excited to do another playthrough with my young sons, one of whom can't get enough of messing around in the original and B&DD on NES. Cheers
Battlemaniacs only has 2 bosses and might be the easiest parts of the game. Also 4 of the 6 levels are reimagined from the NES one if anyone couldn’t already tell. The bonus rounds are a nice touch.
I grew up with Battletoads Double Dragon, and I'm kind of shocked it's not higher on the list, I was under the impression that it was the most popular one, but I guess I could be wrong? I'm not sure where I heard it was the most popular... 🤔
Battletoads 2020 was a flaming bag of dog shit top to bottom and the fact that it isn't resting at the very bottom of the list completely destroys the credibility of this list.
Hey if you're a young zoomer dude and haven't beat any of the classic Battletoads, don't worry, we millennials can't beat them either lol. NO ONE CAN! (And anyone on TH-cam supposedly beating the game is just using optical illusions!!)
As someone who beat the classic games legit, I like the NES original the best followed by Battletoads and Double Dragon. Battlemaniacs is the worst (half the stages and no personality). Arcade is the hardest if you're not into credit feeding. Also, too repetitive. I don't care for it much.
I'm just one of the casualties the games left behind at the turbo tunnel, I only made it beyond that deal only once on the NES, but I got murdered by that game, I had better luck with the gameboy version though, made it to Robo-manus but couldn't take him down either... I'm just not surprised to see Battlemaniac that hard, it's Battletoads in it's tradition alright, best to describe the Toads on the NES and SNES versions like a big bully, once you get a trashing from the turbo tunnel, you understand why all too well... Beating those games are even worth giving a medal for that achievement... Congrats for making it past the turbo tunnel... Patience is simply not enough on this one..
Personally I think the Amiga conversion has the best music even though there wasn't enough disk space to include the 3 best tracks of the game unfortunately@@HerbivorousMuse
Let’s be frank here, The reason why the 2020 version of the battle toads game failed, Doesn’t have the violence and doesn’t have the swearing because of political correctness. Clinton is the reason why they made wokeness so popular now. No wonder these games today are pieces of shit!
I don’t know man, this video is weak. I’ve played all of these games. Beaten most. Played through the arcade a few times. At an actual arcade. With actual money. And it didn’t eat up a ton of quarters. These games are beatable. What kind of wimp can’t master the NES version or the Game Boy version?
I mean I agree, these are certainly beatable, but most players don't have the patience to practice the levels over and over again. Takes a certain type of person is all i'm saying.
Good for you. Obviously you’re the outlier and most people find them very difficult. So no need to sh*t on the creator’s video and call people names over a video game.
Obviously a large number of people who played the nes game 😂but to be fair most don’t have the patience to repeatedly play those games to master it I hear plenty of ppl who couldn’t even clear the third stage with the bike racing course if they don’t have the patience memorization of the course and the reflexes they not getting passed that
The Genesis port of the NES game toned down the difficulty. In fact, if you want a version of the original, that's the one I recommend.

It's my favorite too. 🐸 😎 🤜

Happily, srg320 is working on a Battletoads Arcade core for MiSTerFPGA, too 😲
You don't beat Battletoads, Battletoads beat you.
(But fr, just liking the games is enough to make you cool in my book heh.)
This is a pretty accurate statement. Thank you for watching the video!

Battletoads is one of those series I love hearing about, reading about and watching videos but I don’t want to play it!

It usually is very popular
The original Battletoads was so damn hard!! 😄
The new Battletoads had only ony major flaw - Dakr Queen's design. What's wrong with having attractive women?
She might be attractive but she's a complete sadistic psychopath...
The only one I played is the SNES, ITS HARD AS DAAAMN, it took me 18 hours to beat it

Where's the Gameboy game...

Silver Surfer on NES is the hardest game to date.
@@HerbivorousMuse I beat battletoads but not silver surfer lolol --- However I was addicted to battletoads :P
I got past level 3. After 11 years

Ive heard silver surfer is pretty tough
Great video! thanks for the info
Isn't there a genesis game as well? I think its a port of thr NES one, but I think it might be considered a superior version by some
Personally I think the Amiga conversion has the best music even though there wasn't enough disk space to include the 3 best tracks of the game unfortunately@@HerbivorousMuse
I never beat the original battle toad game
I think Ikaruga is harder than Battletoads.
might pick me up one it looks fun
I’m gonna be honest I haven’t been past the turbo bike portion on the NES
Same in over 30 years, might have kept the cartridge of Battlemaniacs but maybe it's just me getting masochistiic when ever I play it...
