Given her background, Michael would probably be aware of the similarities between Trill joining and the Vulcan mind meld. Adira needed to open up to it in order to fully connect with Tal.

I think that the two friends were on one of the last historical starships. Perhaps the USS ENTERPRISE E - Preserved as a historical Starfleet Museum ship - but quickly brought into full operating conditions as part of the re-establishment of the Federation and Starfleet, a hundred years ago. The only way to find HQ is for Adira to link with the Trill Symbiont and Burnham and the Discovery crew know that.

Has Stargate Sued Them Yet, or is the lawsuit for copyright infringement in progress, or pending? They must have hired old writers of Stargate, because the storylines are the same too. Things dont behave as we humans are used to.
And with that the ONLY problem from this show comes the fact that the guy said he had no idea what was going to happen, and when she disappears he had no idea what did happen, but IMMEDIATELY they say she needs to establish a mental link .
Where did that come from? If it never happened before and you dont know what could happen, how does mental link be the FIRST thing you think of?

Burnham is going to be on our face just like Picard was
She will be saved by crew. She will kick ass when needed. She will be smarter when needed or stupid dumb just so she can learn a lesson, only to become ingeniously smart again to solve said problem ...all because she is the main character.

@@GaryGyarados so you're saying first and second season had nothing about tilly or the gay doc being smart what with spore jumps and shit? And no matter the evil captain, before all that, he made shit happen. Not Burnham.
Point is she's the main focus. Picard was main focus. So didn't matte the actual few times others solved. a problem it was mostly HIS orders that led to it.
Of course others did it. But who's getting shine?
Capt picard for being such a great Capt who orders a great crew.
      That's just understanding.
From there you just got to sit he very VERY basic action if understanding the dynamics.
Picard was on a ship and the whole show was episodic. Each episode meant to teach a lesson. Made in a time where we honestly needed fthoselessons cause of the era we were in.
Discovery is made in a time where traveling to Japan to learn about their culture isn't as exciting because we..WE..tou and I...have that information ready. Or have met enough in our own real life. Or can easily get on this site and look up anything. As well as a dating site and talk to any of them..INSTANTLY.
So exploring strange new world isn't going to resonate with us well..time to explore more things. Ourselves. Individuals. People. Working together. Unity. Community. Species relations. Especially with those you wirl closer with.
So we still have a main character that will need to be worth being the main character. Focus will be on them.
Either they will solve the problem or create situations which problems get solved. That's how main characters work.

Idk what your problem is. I'm 35. Started watching TNG in like 92. Have been a fan ever since.
I remember all the way through voyager and enterprise that I wanted more personal stories. People didn't speak normally. What with explaining what they meant a lot. Or things got shrugged off in the very next episode. Having no impact.
While I enjoyed the show, I still wanted more impact from the choices...lime real life does.
Having joined marines directly out of highschool..I've seen ALL , in way of mannerisms, that star trek has ever shown even up to now..which is FAR more in tune with in what I actually believe the older shows wanted to do, but main stream audiences weren't ready for.
There will be conflict even between ranks. I know. I was almost twice and was actually demoted once.
There will be disobedience in the name of doing the right thing. Had I and a few others unfollowed our mstsgt on a patrol..his orders that is, we'd all be fucking dead. Instead we, being the most experienced in that route at the time, ordered others to follow us. And here I am typing this, having survived what was an ambush, but we got the upper hand.
There will. Be crying and emotions as people get fucked up after losing members. I had to stop my patrol to calm down another marine who lost his partner. They'd been there at least 4months before I was there. In my 3ed month walking the perimeter I heard a noise and investigated. And this marine was broken down. Tear in my eyes now as I remember not knowing what to do and trying to make sure he didn't reach a point of suicide. Which another marine I did survived with, ended up doing. A bullshit Facebook message from his mother noted me and a few others of that. Anf I'm still angry with him.
What we saw in TNG were people in a position it's how civilians look at enlisted people.
What we see in Discovery are the actual people beyond their positions. It's what you see working close together every day. Living your life in the same vicinity but from different backgrounds yet having to work together and yet still in different positions.
It's allccomplicated and full of emotions.
      Discovery is going great.
It's like star trek grew up with me.
Tng and forward. With its childish storytelling.
Problem, solution, the end. Next book. All of 5 pages with big words to easily get to the end.
DS9 played with some serious stuff, and I hated it when I was younger. But I rewatched it recently and I can appreciate it.even though I still hold some nostalgic hate lol.
Discovery is like a young adult book. All the fun of the kids stories but on chapters where you get more details and learn more about the people..and it's all connected. Or adult novel..as it has all of that, plus the ideas that we adults understand should be fleshed out and it touches on that.

Yep, emotional trash. Unbelievable and painful to watch. But Season 3 is the end of this anyway.

I'm in agreement. There is melodrama in some of the scenes, and I'm seeing the crew crying most of the time, and getting self-indulgently sentimental.Discovery tries hard to be emotional and profound -- but is overly melodramatic compare to even old Trek. Its not natural speech and behaviour. Too many speeches instead of pep talks

@@dark_lord_0169 bro what do you think it does to an intelligent mind when you go through all of this shit this crew went through? I always asked how it could happen that they lost people and all and it didnt had any impact on them in voyager, ds9 and the others. I like discovery because it shows that you can overcome all bullshit in life and move on, even getting stronger because of what you go through. For me discovery is a story of hope for all who are a bit lost.

@@annikawollert8078 They are supposed to be the finest of the Federation. Gone through years in the Academy to prepare them for what is out there. More years and plenty of experience to even get to where they are now, on the bridge of a federation starship.
But that crew is a bunch of whining pussies you could hire for taxi service between Earth and Mars, provided they get emotional support during the journey and the weekends off to visit their parents. They are all emotional unfit for service anywhere. The only normal person is Georgiou, the rest belongs into safe spaces behind a desk somewhere, each with a shrink on standby to help them deal with their personal issues.
It's utterly ridiculous and painful to watch. Without the ability to skip entire scenes, it wouldn't be watchable at all. It's ST for teenagers working through puberty, and even than it's too much of utterly unbelievable emotional soap.

They just had to shoehorn in a trans storyline

Was that the actress that was transgender?
The Trill have always been pan gender in Star Trek since introduction. Crusher had the hots for a male Trill that became female.
Dax, old man, was now a hot chick (and I mean hot) on DS9 to later become a Mary Ann sweet little girl next-door.
I pretty well ignore the oddities of actor lives. Takei was gay but Sulu wasn't necessarily. Half the men in drama are probably gay or bi.
A later found it funny that Rock Hudson was gay and Tony Randall was as straight as you could get, opposite of their portrayals in Doris Day flicks.

it's a good show, but it throws away the star trek idealistic and happiness

This is not only the worst Star Trek, but the worst show ever produced. If I was one of the writers, I would have kms already.

No but when a girl kissed a boy, it was disgusting. What's next? Pedophiles in the spore drive? BTW I loved the love story between stamets and Hugh
