    my favorite AA light is a nitecore EA11.
    it runs everything AA sized; alkaline, nimh, lithium, lithium ion rechargable and it can even do 1000 lumen on an IMR battery.
    5 levels + strobe + sos + beacon and there's a red led with 2 flashing modes.

    Besides the Olight S1A Baton, does anyone know what other lights (even if not in this vid) have all of the following 3 features:
    1) Can also use 3.7 volt 14500 Lithium Ion battery. 2) TIMER for auto shut off. 3) STROBE or flashing mode.
    Like the S1A features, but before buying, want to see if there are options with a better clip like on the I5T, M1T Raider, etc. & with a tail switch.

    1-Lumintop tool AA 2.0 have in fact a strobe mode

    3-NI-Mh batteries aren't 1.5V. They're 1.2V

    One thing I'd say about the magnetic tail caps is you have to be careful putting it down or it will have a bunch of stuff stuck to it. Working on cars I use my pocket light for taking a quick look at something and have a couple magnetic work lights on deck

    Great video. Thanks for posting it. Personally I dislike lights with multiple modes that you have cycle thru. I like a simple on/off switch and if it has multiple modes then a separate switch for that. Mainly because in my line of work I turn on and off the light often and inevitably I end up switching modes by accident. You also can't do things like signaling and morse code with multifunction switches. Unfortunately most lights these days have only one switch for everything.

    Olight is always a number one pick for me. I do disagree on the Tool AA, that is a classic. They have made some slight improvements on the Tool AA over time but it remains a highly reliable useable flashlight.

    • @donaldstrader7241
      @donaldstrader7241 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Same here. Thanks Jiujitsu2000 for coming back and taking the trouble to insert the Olight i5T. A very nice AA flashlight, although I wish they sold the neutral white (NW) version instead of just crappy white (CW). A lot of manufacturers provide a choice. The Lumintop Tool is I think up to v2.0 which you might like better since I have read so much good about it. Plus you can get a kit that includes both the tailswitch or a magnetic cap. I put the Lumintop Tool 2.0 on my wishlist but did not get it at Christmas. I think everyone thought I had enough flashlights. LOL. Nice seeing a review of your AA flashlights and the battery line-up. Funny that with alternatives to alkaleaks now, and LED technology improvements that AA lights are now more practical.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love my Olights! But I like the new version Tool 2.0 AA I have the black cree version. Still lacks moonlight but with NIMH 3.7 lumen low mode its very low and last a long time. The battery life is really good also for a single AA in all modes. I live in a colder climate and during winter I really liked using the one handed twist head as the switch with gloves on. In summer I use the tail cap switch. I'm thinking of getting another one but the Tool 2.0 Ti version with the light up tail switch in Nichia 219C. For something so small for closeup work I think having a warmer tint with less lumen will be fine for me.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@donaldstrader7241 I got the Tool 2.0 kit with both tail caps. I tend to use the tail switch a lot and as a 2nd lock out to ensure it will not turn on in the pocket, but putting on the magnet cap and using it as a twisty makes it even shorter so that is great! I like the diffuser also it comes with. I use that at work in some electronic racks while doing wiring lighting the small area well. The only thing is the cool white does not have great CRI and some wires that are red and dark orange or navy blue and grey can look similar. I will order the Nichia 219C version I think as I said in my other comment and it will be better CRI when I'm in the racks and inside equipment.

    S1A Baton was the light i would keep from all the others. AA powered, magnetic tail, diffuser cone, great pattern and color temperature. Last week i bought an i5t eos StarDust and it become my favorite. I own flashlights from Nitecore Tini to Acebeam K75, including 3 very good qualiti headlamps. But nothing can beat a flashlight powered by AA.

    • @practicalguy973
      @practicalguy973 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's right. Heavy Duty or Super Heavy Duty are not close to the performance of Alkaline both in capacity and amp output. In some applications I've seen half the performance when needing high ampere like with D cells in my 2200 lumen Fenix TK70. I have Powerex 10'000mah NIMH which are best, then Alkaline, then Super Heavy Duty.

  • @rubixmarix

      The Thrunight archer 1av3 and the olight s1a both use both batteries. Your #2 is my #1. You also forgot to mention that the Thrunite Archer 1A V3 is the only tactical light you are showing. It has a tail switch which is important for tactical draw which places your clenched fist in the overhand position, and the memory which can be set to high for instant blinding when turning on. It also is large enough to protrude slightly from your fist if you need to strike someone with the slightly scalloped bezel. You missed a lot in your description but you know it's the best defensive flashlight on the table.
